A good lesson about sports. Seasons like last season are rare. It was the Bills' 2005-2006. Like the Sabres' run it should have ended with glory. The follow on season was a letdown and the Bills are following suit. The lesson makes the Sabres' current "plan" all the more laughable. Instead of having a reasonable shot every year of winning a ticket to the dance, and every so often having a real shot at it, they choose to be one glorious Cup machine... in 2031.

Admirable that you own yet another terrible preseason prediction. Are you really doubling down? The Sabres will get back to a 96ish point pace? Or do you mean starting from scratch once the two saviors return?

A very good coach. And one who has had many, many kicks at the can (deservedly so). No surprise he can have success again. But he is what he is. A very good coach who's had up and down records since leaving Buffalo. And most importantly precious little playoff success.

I hope he got to retire off of his bonus for the Where's Perreault? idea. People think I'm a hockey guy. I'm a football guy. There just happened to be a hockey team for sale first. If he's slowly smothering the Sabres with a pillow so the team can be moved without anyone caring, don't be shocked. I'm glad people are starting to question what's really going on. I'd say it's flip a coin as to whether there's a real plan to win.
