  1. Yes you tipped your hand by exaggerating something he might have said. Even if he said Hitler did some good things, it doesn't make him a Nazi supporter. I think Trump did a few good things. I don't support the MAGA movement. You mean Russia state media during the Cold War might have made up a story to make an American sports icon look bad?
  2. Is speech free if exercising it results in your cancellation?
  3. Do you think a midget can consent to being choked out with suspenders? Nazi supporter? Now you're showing your hand. Hull sued that particular publication BTW.
  4. Close to the playoffs and trying to get better at some risk to the future? Is this allowed?
  5. Hasek was a Sabre for 10 years. And I can show my work. If I have to.
  6. It's a tough one. What if Rick's been engaging in midget wrestling all these years and ArtVoice prints the story?
  7. Bullfrog marmalade.
  8. There's no ***** way Rasmus Dahlin is coming into our building and winning the Conn Smythe again! Has anyone even won it twice in a row in a losing effort?
  9. As a fan of self mutilation and self shame, I looked back 11 years to see if we're truly in uncharted territory on this date in the playoff-less Pegula Era (see how nice I've become?). The only times we've been close to a playoff position on January 30 were in 2017 (20-19-9 and 7 points back) and 2019 (25-19-6 and 3 back). In 2012 and 2020 the records weren't terrible, but they were FAIAP out of it. The rest will not be spoken of again until 50 years after our deaths. (In 2021 the season had just begun. The Sabres were 4-3-2.)
  10. I was off a little. Ted called the Forum and had them patch WGR radio into the live sound from the arena. WGR folks then mixed arena sound into Ted's call over the phone. Ted was watching CBC presumably as his son Joey used headphones to listen to the announcer and tell his dad about time remaining, penalties and the like. The attached pic is from Budd Bailey's History of the Buffalo Sabres. An open question is whether the game was shown on Channel 2 with Ted's call synched.
  11. One of the more impressive ties ever. Montreal was a machine. They finished that season 60-8-12! I might dig up some more info on the following... Ted Darling couldn't make the trip and called the game from home. There's more to the story. As I recall his young son helped him produce a rather sophisticated show using arena sound from Munreal.
  12. Semantics? Something happened to his brain for sure. If it happened to you on the street, you wouldn't go right back to your office. Right away or the next day IMHO. You'd be in the ER.
  13. In 2023 America you are tilting at peppermills (which have microchips), my friend.
  14. To put things in perspective, since 12/7 when this thread was started the Sabres have gone 14-6-3. That's a 110 point pace for a full season. They've made up five points on the final playoff spot. What they're doing is impressive and shows how hard it is to stay in a playoff race after getting off to a slow start. And they'll have to continue to stay hot the rest of the way, although not 110 point pace hot, to make it. 33 games to go!
  15. So fans of a franchise that has been out of the playoffs for 12 years are taking shots at a highly successful GM whose team is right with us in the standings? Time will tell if Lou is old news and the Sabres are avant garde.
  16. I gotta say despite not liking OT or the SO and would rather just have a tie... That goal by TT was a Whoah! moment. The turning on of the jets and then the laser shot... whoah! Double whoah! Whoa. Whoah. Woah. I hate our language sometimes.
  17. Not for his well being? Are we over Damar already? Of course he suffered a brain injury. Of course in a civilized world he'd get ample time to recover.
  18. It is. Treat these men like human beings, not slabs of beef. Not sure what that means lol. Always wondered about practicing in the morning when most games are at night.
  19. I think we feel connected to Buffalo. We're 2, 4 and 7 country. We knew Irv, Rick and Tom. We fly out of Buffalo and go to the Galleria and the accent is closer to Buffalo's than Pittsburgh's. A touch over an hour up the 219 and we're at Rich. An hour to the south is the PA Wilds. Deer. Bear. Pittsburgh is 4 hours away. This is solid, rock solid, Bills country with a lot of Steeler fans of course. As for hockey it's more Sabres than Pens I'd guess, but the gap is narrowing with younger fans going Burgh for obvious reasons. Oddity: we are in both the Sabres and Pens TV market.
  20. Flashing light gif is missing. Uh oh.
