Playing GM or even one layer lower, studying the salary structures of the teams, might be part of fandom. But it's so far removed from what a sports fan is it's asinine. The real issue I have of course is that Sabres fans have been reduced to this, the actual product having been so unconsumable. By doing this, you're not enjoying the sport. Sorry. You're enjoying how the sausage is made.

Good idea.

It almost seems like it's baked into the business model. When Cliff Benson and Terry looked across the street soon after Terry bought the team, what did they really envison? Harbor Center. Developmental hockey at various levels. Scouting combines. The draft. It's certainly a way of keeping costs down. I pondered something the other day. Maybe it could be its own thread. Is it crazy to think the worst owner in NHL history could go into the HHOF ... as a builder?

It's puzzling to me why the broadcasts have changed in that way. If you're into the game, you don't want to hear the banter. If you're new to the game or just tuning in for a minute, you really don't want to hear the banter. Who wants to hear it? I don't get it. Does anyone really listen to it, much less enjoy. And if you're trying to use the broadcast to sell the sport, what does it say to the listener that even the announcers aren't interested in what's happening on the ice?

Individual development over team development. The fans have bought into it. The young players love it. Learn to play with no pressure to win, then hopefully write your ticket out.

My beefs with Dan are chiefly: He can call a good game but only does so when it fits his mood apparently. Maybe the perfect guy for this group of Gen Z slackers. Worse, he gaslits. Big time. Almost comically. Maybe why Dudacek likes him. "Buffalo now down 5-1. And here they go again looking for another one to get right back in it!" See also: going from 3-0 down to 3-1 is not cutting a lead in half.

Only some of them. Enjoy mediocrity.

If summer never came would people go mad? Because I can kind of feel it in the air, literally. Depression is setting in already. Come on, summer. Let's go. I need to bitch about your sunshine, heat and humidity.

What are our top tradeable assets really worth?

Dahlin is gone. Does your imagination not allow you to see a Sabres franchise that is better? Or one that is about the same? Why would the wheels fall off (wheels? what wheels?)? Why are we married to Rasmus Dahlin? I honestly don't get it. -

Dahlin is the cat that Jerry and Elaine were referencing when one of them said something like, "Cats? I don't get it. What do they do?" -
Sabres say seasons ticket sales rising, Ruff a reason

Sorry. I blew it. Rabid antimeddlite. -

This is a straw man. Like ink said, good haul means good NHL players in return. See trading Turgeon for reference. This franchise has literally nothing to lose. -

Dahlin should bring a nice haul. -

Save us, Master Guelli. You got Ruff in here. Now let's clear some kid trash and bring in someone fans will love, like Tkachuk. As an avowed antimeddlite, I say meddle, Pete! Bring back NHL hockey to Buffalo. Trying to fill the seats and make the customers happy can go hand in hand with actually winning. -
Like, kids are tweet bombing.

I'm sorry. Me too (my job, not yours). But for me it's one of those "the toughest job you'll ever love" deals. IOW the sausage making is unpleasant, but I feel good walking out the door (duh). Can you do any mental gymnastics like that? Or do you truly hate the job and find nothing redeeming about it? In the end are you doing something important for the world?
