With a win tonight, a chance to reprise 05-06 holiday surge
PASabreFan replied to PASabreFan's topic in The Aud Club
Of course they ain't going 14-2-1. Probably. But if this group really wants to make a statement about ending the drought, 6-2-1 at home and 4-3-1 on the road would work nicely. -
(Of course they can still do it with a loss, but just play along.) The 05-06 Sabres were nothing special before their road game on the Island on Thanksgiving Eve. They were 11-9-1. They did sit in the last playoff spot. Buffalo dipped the Sticks in their own tartar and went on a rip of 15-3-1 through New Year's Day, ending up just three points out of first in the East. The road was tough with 8 home and 11 away. With a win tonight the Sabres will host the Wild on Thanksgiving Eve with that same record of 11-9-1 and in a similarly uncertain playoff situation as Drury Briere and the boys. While in 05-06 the home and road games were fairly spread out, this time it's 7 of 8 at home and 7 of 9 on the road. The holiday sked culminates in Dallas on NYE. 14-2-1 will suffice.

Great moments in Sabres-Sharks broadcasting history. -
A good, clean hit is a great part of the game and something that in and of itself is meant to shift momentum to your side. Why should a player have to answer for it and perhaps suffer a TBI? If you think that hit should be avenged for some strategic game flow advantage, why wouldn't you support grabbing a guy who just dingled and dangled and put it top shelf and beating the everloving ***** out of him to teach him a lesson and take away the energy boost of the goal? Of course the league would come down hard on it. It wants goals. Apparently it doesn't want good clean hits.

I'm sure mom has talked to Jose about it.

I'll own it. I want 14-4 losses every time out until Terry is forced to sell. Suffering is the path to joy. -
Hint: He cackles.
-
Kevyn has said he talks to Terry every day. Does that seem normal or healthy?

Inkling you say? Someone smarter than I in stats will have to explain how the current playoff cutoff line can be maintained thru 82 games. -
Nate Silver says TP has a 33.156% chance of not being the worst owner.

It's not Meatballs or any other ethnic slur Buffalo sports fans want to come up with, it's the Gortons Fisherman. -
That's a good call.
-
I mean, they're not above planting posters on message boards.
-
I think I like Chris Brown. Still haven't been able to track down the full call of The Run.
-
It was an obvious hard no to have Levi start the season as the starter. Alas... Just listen to PopPa.
-
If I were a nasty poster, I would call up the Levi poll before LAST season. Oopsie.
-
Am I OK? From THN... The reclaiming of James Reimer off of waivers last week gave the Sabres the opportunity of giving the 22-year-old some regular work in the AHL while the veteran backed up Luukkonen this week during a three-game road swing through California, and on Wednesday, head coach Lindy Ruff announced that Levi was being sent down to the Rochester Americans.

I've looked down my nose at the idea of great players in recent Buffalo sports. It always seemed desperate and manufactured. Hell, I never thought Ryan Miller was great, so I wasn't going to apply that mantle to rookie Dylan Cozens. I wish I was still the kind of Bills fan I used to be so I could truly revel in something so rare that came along on a Sunday evening in November: an authentically and indisputably great play by an authentically and indisputably great player. You won't find many greater moments in the history of Buffalo sports. Sabres, were you watching?
