  1. I recall one of the BBGs (I think) where Kim told a story about getting through a rough stretch of Sabres hockey and remembering that her husband said something like, "It's OK, we still have Jack." I bet Terry will be a hard sell on pulling the trigger. Folks should also remember Perreault wanted out circa 1978 after several frustrating playoff ousters.
  2. But they kept the lamb wagons open!
  3. Always have hated games at MSG.
  4. This would suggest very wealthy people buy hockey teams to make money year over year. What has happened to the value of the Sabres franchise since Terry bought it?
  5. Dust on the Handrails: The Pegula Era of Sabres Hockey By I.P. Freeley Available at Borders summer 2021
  6. Exactly! Not sure of your point. The Sabres haven't had Buffalo-born owners since the Knoxes.
  7. I can tell you the turning point.
  8. I wanted to give that more than one emoji. SDS, can you program that option in? (Kidding.) Also, let's make it a separate thread.
  9. I don't want him or his sister to "run" the team either. I want them to be smart CEOs. But if Pegulas running the team is inevitable, I'd take them over who runs it now.
  10. I think you've got it! See also: the rain on Main falls mainly on McLlwain.
  11. The claim that RaKru didn't know Jack tweaked his ankle in Jersey is dubious. I have no idea what the warmup injury claim and horrendous answer last night are all about. But there's no way the coach didn't know about Jack's jankle.
  12. Michael Pegula, Buffalo-born, is 42 and lives in Los Angeles. He was (still is?) an assistant coach at USC. In 2018-19, he was a coach for Orange County Hockey 18U AA. He played in the ACHA for one season in 06-07 (College of the Canyons). His Instagram account says he owns a fitness business, coaches the Jr. Ducks, and is a personal trainer, podcast co-host and actor. In a Buffalo News story when Terry bought the team (no one mentioned Kim as co-owner at the time), Mike was described as a "compulsive Sabres follower." At quick glance, there isn't mention of the Sabres in his Twitter and Instagram accounts. Let's crowd-source this. Next up, Laura. Her dad said in 2011 she'd make everyone in "this room" (the arena atrium) look like Moscow Dynamo fans by comparison, she's such a big Sabres fan.
  13. Selling is shooting for the stars, the kids taking over is landing on the moon. Or however that old saying goes. (And by kids, I mean the two older kids, who are said to be hockey fans and most likely both Sabres fans.) Would they want to do it? I don't know. If there were to take over operational control, would they be smart enough to not meddle? I also don't know. The hope in this Plan B is that even if they meddled, they would somehow have the hockey sense their parents clearly don't have, and the meddling wouldn't be destructive.
  14. I mean, in reality, it's /thread after that post.
  15. Maybe analytics is trash.
  16. True. They spent most of the afternoon trying to set themselves up with the prettiest goals. Sheer lack of respect.
  17. We don't have the right emoji for this. No mouth agape.
  18. They've quit. Coaches get fired for this.
  19. Marty says it's all about layers. Oh, we'll be comfortable. (I know, it was levels.)
  20. Borgen skated his beehind off to try and get back to prevent a goal. He'll get a talkin'-to after the game.
  21. Not only do I believe in Hockey Gods, I believe there are God assistants in charge of certain things, one of which is puck special effects. A Sabre shot hit the side of the net and got stuck there. The Flyer goal gets stuck in the back of the net. Cold!
