Official Jason Karmanos Hired as Sabres Associate GM

And then the rehabilitation of the tank will be complete, like Richard Nixon's return to public life. It will be the reason we are good. -
TIL I don't care about Jack Eichel. I took the bait, uttered a soft "wow" and that was it. As I was about to click on the title, I noticed the small number of replies and I realized I'd been had. But... for those 10 seconds... nothing. Self-preservation, I guess. I'm not hitching my wagon to anyone associated with Sabres hockey. They can all fall into meat grinders. (I'll pull Cozens and Bryson out of the way though, but they're on short notice.) Don't you have to hose off your driveway and tighten the screws in your mailbox again?

Mogilny ended up yielding Peca, McKee and Warrener. That one, ostensibly a salary dump, worked out pretty well. Actually, Muckler was honest about short-term suffering in 95-96 but said the rebuild would be a fast one. He then predicted, after getting shitcanned, that the Sabres would win a Cup within a few years. So close! -
What do we get for Hall? When does he get traded?

LGR is not just another poster when it comes to prospects. He's like our prospects editor. So there's a higher standard. And, unless I misread his analysis, he wasn't saying Bedard is a generational WHL player. The jab was about Dahlin, duh. Again, it was a Dahlin jab. I desire to see your cohort spreadsheet.

Go on...
-
This is where you go off the rails. Scout the player and tell people like me how he's performing at that level. To anoint him a future generational player is insane. Your track record is poor. People rely on you. You should be more responsible.

I clicked. It's solid reporting.

Changing logos and colors could be debated as smart, but it's a non-starter. If I were Rutherford arriving on the job, I'd think about changing so much of what the players have been seeing and hearing every time they've taken the ice. It's almost Pavlovian at this point. They keep hearing and seeing the same things, they lose, they cry. At what point do you hear and see the same things and cry automatically? Y'all know my litany. The anthem, the P.A. guy, the horn, the goal song, the organist, the people who coordinate the atmosphere in the arena, even the crummy banners that players like to look at after missing empty nets. I'd throw Sabre Dance in there. Put it on hiatus. And the bench. Break it up and have a bonfire after the release of a bat over at Canalside. Change the style of the red line. Cancel culture took care of the intermission announcer, so there's your start. Desperate times... (One more if you'll indulge me. Buffalo has to have the worst rink in the league for delayed announcements of goals and penalties. For the love of God, stop announcing opponents' goals four minutes in real time later while the Sabres are hemmed in their own zone. And stop saying, "Pittsburgh's first goal scored by...")

Jeff will have to figure that out. I'm not up to speed on the latest excuse for why Jeff isn't doing anything with more ice time under Granato/Adams. -
It's what's really behind the complaints.

Maybe it's not the name, but the idea of it.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Yes, based on the title. Historically, you might think small-market teams have wanted to suppress offense to keep player costs down. Or... the players they can afford are not suited to scoring goals (think Dom-era Sabres). Or both. You'd think that went out the winder with the arrival Terry Dad Sneakers.

I seem to recall some talk about a white buffalo and the spiritual significance to indigenous peoples. Spurning the goathead seems to be turning point in franchise history. It was all downhill after the return to blue and gold. Presidents Trophy? Sure. It was fools gold.

A new LTS is born!

Based in... Pittsburgh.

Not sure, but it was spectacular. It was Vaudevillian, maybe even Keystone Kops-ish. Whatever it was, it needs some music set behind it.

Are we doing this again? Is there any fan base that overrates players more (before they get here, when they're here and when they're about to leave)?
