Is this one of those rules that the NHL made up but didn't disseminate to the clubs? "When Brett Hull scored his series-clinching goal in triple overtime of game six, his foot was in the crease but the puck was not. During the middle of the season, the NHL sent out a memo clarifying the "skate in the crease" rule that allowed goals in instances where the goalscorer established possession of the puck prior to entering the crease."

All the talk about Middlestadt reminds me of what was being said about Tage Thompson a couple years ago. Patience people, he's a highly skilled player who has a 200' game. He's young enough that his ceiling is still much higher.

Easy fella. Not only have you moved the goalposts but you've widened them. I could just as easily state that the one game this year that we basically tied our opponent in hits that we lost. The Sabres seem to have been taking the puck away from their opponents on a regular basis without having to expend the energy to crush them physically with hits. They've been wearing them out by making the other team chase them. -

In order to legally hit a member of the other team it is necessary that the player has the puck. The Sabres are winning, not because they are out hitting the other team or doing anything else but for the sole reason that they are out scoring them. -
What is different this year so far, through 4 games...

It seems like the Sabres (in general) settled down in each contest this year and found their game. They seemed to find it quicker and quicker in each game. -

Wow. Every forum needs a Debbie Downer but do you have to make up an imaginary friend too? What things do you see that will get exposed soon? I'm not saying there aren't any but if that's what you believe then you should take the time to explain them rather than just do a drive-by. -

Getting hit with a pick is a major penalty and usually something more serious than a few stitches. -
Oh, I thought this was going to be a Derek Roy thread.

Easy fella. It's early. You act as if you'd get rid of your car because it ran out of gas and couldn't tough it out and get you home. I've been a fan since '72 and even the great Sabres teams took a good deal of time to gel. -

General observation: When the Panthers had the puck, especially in the offensive zone they had what I call "firm possession". When the Sabres have had the puck they invariably had what I call "tentative possession". Nervousness?
