  1. I'd rather finish 9-7 or 8-8 and not ruin yet another 1st round QB pick. I'm all for playing the long game here, not making decisions that hamper the team in 3-4 years.
  2. I read something awhile back about a "green burial" movement. None of this embalming and burying you in a hermetically sealed box, just do a normal wood or canvas bag and done. There are concerns about all the embalming chemicals getting into the water table.
  3. What are the odds the Sabres can keep the season series to under 10 GA?
  4. I have almost no confidence any QB that's in a position to be taken in the draft this year by the Bills will be better than Tyrod. As people above have pointed out, I don't think any FA QB will be enough of an upgrade that they're worth their salary+Tyrod's dead cap hit. I think you draft this year, have NewQB backup Tyrod and learn the ropes, and go into 2019 with (hopefully) your long-term solution. The Bills have rushed too many QBs into the league and it shows.
  5. If that were the case, every time the Sabres call someone up, that player should suddenly be nearly the best guy on the ice, no? The gap between the AHL and NHL is big. Matt Moulson had zero points in 14 games this year in Buffalo, and has 18 points in 13 games in Ontario.
  6. By all reports, Housley's system preaches skating speed, so slower players aren't a natural fit there. That being said, I don't think his speed is that bad, there's just a ton of dysfunction going on so it's tough to figure out which parts are system issues, player talent issues, or malaise issues. I'm still not sure there isn't a fair bit of Bylsma-hangover though; I see a fair number of passes from the defending zone to the far side of the neutral zone which sounds more like last year than what was hoped for this year.
  7. Outside of this, the only other merit-based system would be going with a relegation/promotion based system (as European hockey and soccer(football) leagues do). Make the "National Conference" with 16 teams, and their championship is the national. The last two teams in the National have to play winners from other conferences to be in the national conference the next year. BTW, Penn State should in the middle-PA conference, 10 levels down from the national playing teams like Mansfield Tech and Harrisburg A&M (I made those up). They can win their way back up in 15-20 years.
  8. Even he plays lights out, he'll go back down when Lehner is off IR. Having a good Amerks team is probably more important for development than him getting NHL games in at this point.
  9. You can try to make it black and white all you want, but it's not the reality. There are some players that work better in some systems and that doesn't mean they "suck" or "don't care".
  10. Nicely done. I'm starting to like my "take a QB with 21 and 22" idea even more; get two kicks at the can, LOL. I think with all the video and scouting and metrics, like hockey it's going to be harder and harder to find diamonds in the rough. They'll happen, but it won't even be as common in the future as it has been in the past.
  11. Frankly, if there are two of the top 5-6 QBs left at 21 and 22, I'd be tempted to take both (assuming the Bills don't find a FA QB; maybe even if they do). If they both pan out, trade one. The Bills need a long-term QB so bad that I'm willing to break the pick-bank on it.
  12. I'll have MSG Go running on my phone (hopefully) and CBS on the antenna. That might flip if the antenna craps out.
  13. Half-way extravaganza!
  14. It'd be awful if Belichick was in the NFC. Just awful.
  15. If nothing else, I'm pretty sure the NFL doesn't do evening Sunday games in the playoffs, it should have been a 7PM start.
  16. IBM spent a lot of time working on things like feel, and for the old screens, font legibility. They went way further than "does it work? ship it!"
  17. That's awesome Josie! Find an industry that's under-served and bring something unique to it; great idea! I dusted off my favorite keyboard today, and I forgot how much I love this thing. I haven't had my desktop set up at home for a few years and have been just using whatever laptop has been around (mostly work-issued). The only bittersweet part of this keyboard is it's a PC101 (no Windows keys[0]) so it's a little annoying as I've gotten used to a few keyboard shortcuts that use them. I think I'm in the market for a new PC104 USB version of this same keyboard. [0] This keyboard almost predates Windows (it predates Windows 2.0). It certainly predates many posters here. It predates Thurman Thomas being a Bill. It remembers the Bills being great. The day after it was built, the Sabres lost to the Minnesota North Stars 5-4 in the Aud. Phil Housley and Scott Arniel scored goals early in the third to tie it up, but Minnesota scored a PPG with 8 minutes left and didn't look back. Sabres Captain Lindy Ruff had an assist on Arneil's SHG. This keyboard is 30 years old, and still works like new. https://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/198711130BUF.html
  18. Make sure to keep an eye out for the season half-way point Lost Point Countdown thread retrospective extravaganza! (Just kidding, I will do the math after the game, however).
  19. Maybe the Sabres could pry an Orca out of Marineland. (I may be dating myself, does that place still exist?)
  20. Heh, sharp-shooter Parros. I thought MythBusters did a segment on this too, but I can't fnid it.
  21. Gorges is likely gone, Johnson, Moulson is kinda-gone (he counts as roster turnover even if he's still on the cap). Kane, Lehner (?), and who else? It may be easier to figure out who stays. :)
  22. Points aren't the only measure of a player. A 55-point player that cannot play a lick of D and a two-way forward that also generates 55 points are of different value. ROR is closer to the latter than the former.
  23. The Jack-trick vs. O'Reilly's roof would have been a tougher decision.
