  1. Probably easier to just say: 53 games, 26 wins. That being said, They're in a pack of teams in the East where 3rd through 7th are 66 or 65 points (with some odd ordering, I assume based on divisions), and better than all but the Moose in the West. It's hardly a terrible record. I suspect the people talking about "woe is me, more losses than wins" are looking for something to be upset about. Their point % is fine, as is their place in the standings. Or, "The Amerks have the second-fewest Regulation losses in the AHL with 13. That's one behind Toronto with 12. The team knows how to compete and get points."
  2. How about a Tops paper bag to put on your head?
  3. Side note: 1970s: ugly decade, or ugliest decade?
  4. I noticed on the last couple games that it seemed like he did say scores on the opponent goals. Leaving those notes on Pegula's doorstep must have worked, well done! :)
  5. Can I guess? Obama Hometown Sports Team Stifles Free Speech. Subtitle: Why don't the Democrats do something about these attacks on the second part of the First Amendment. (The first and third parts, Religion and Free Press, Eh, maybe those are suited to a different era)"
  6. I was kinda hoping there'd be a few games on the precipice.
  7. Not in 3-on-3 OT. You lose the puck and you might not touch it again for 2-3 minutes. There's too much space out there to assume you're going to break up a pass and get the puck back. I'm no Xs and Os guy, but it seems like on 3-on-3, you can kind of dump the puck to where your teammate can get to it and essentially never give up possession. I thought "Bad Hasek" when that goal happened; good to know I wasn't alone.
  8. True. I'm not completely up on the RFA rules. I think the Sabres have to qualify him, which would require a slight raise, right? $4M/yr is about the max I want to pay him, any more looks like wasted cap space.
  9. Fun fact: Taylor has a better career QB passer rating than Foles. Foles in 2013 has the league-leading rating, but otherwise his best season rating is less than Taylor's worst (for seasons with more than 100 pass attempts, i.e. a starter). Foles put together a string of 6 good games as the Eagles starter this year that happened to take them to the Championship. Betting on that to continue is dubious based on past performance.
  10. Oh, I think the body count matters to the people involved. This attitude is part of the problem. Upthread: criminals and inspection: of course they're not going to. It will slow down the rate at which legal guns "disappear" to become illegal guns. If you can't produce your gun, you better have a paper trail to document where it went. There's not going to be some magic solution that solves everything. There are going to be a bunch of little things that help. Similar to Mork's suggestion that there are classes of guns that an 18 year old can't buy; it's not going to stop things, just make it harder.
  11. A journey of a 1000 miles starts with one step. The solution is still the last owner of the gun is responsible for it. If some guy in the militia issues a gun to someone, they better be sure they're not a psychopath.
  12. Any crimes committed with a gun are applicable to the last known owner. If you "lose" a gun, you better report it immediately. If you sell a gun, you do it at a notary. You don't give someone a gun, ever. This gets some of the guns out of the illegal supply. I'm leaning towards yearly inspections, too. Every year, you have to produce the weapon, just you do with a car.
  13. Side note: I think the CC companies still offer a service of temporary card numbers. Find something you want, go to visa.com or whatever, get a temporary number with a limit, put those into sketchyweb.com's site and get what you want.
  14. Precipice extravaganza!!! I wasn't going to update, but the math is really easy now: Games played: 57 Points: 44 Games remaining: 25 Win Streak to get back to 94-point pace: 25 games. Points per game to reach 94: 2 Season Points at that pace: 164 (82-0-0) Record per 10: 10-0-0
  15. No kidding.
  16. :w00t: My friends, we are on the precipice. The Sabres have 44 points with 25 games remaining. The math is pretty simple: win the next 25 games, and the Sabres will be in the running for 8th place with 94 points. MUST WIN!
  17. Nope, he's smiling.
  18. I'm sure they're jeggings.
  19. I'm curious to see how PA feels about this. Employers are missing out, they could make the employee power their computer using the pedals.
  20. Chester County is one of the more expensive in the country. A lot of that is driven by the really expensive old mansions (railroad money) closer to Philly, but it also affects the outer suburbs too. Once you get away from Philly, it's not nearly as crazy. That being said, Philly itself is relatively cheap for East Coast. You can actually buy houses in the city on a normal person income.
  21. I don't love them either, although it's entirely likely my next house will be one. Personally, 2-story > ranch >>>>>> split foyer. That house probably runs $130k in Buffalo, don't worry. If you'd like some more sticker shock: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2597-Charlestown-Rd-Phoenixville-PA-19460/54739195_zpid/ This is house is just up the street from RosePIe's preschool. We're looking to move and thought, that'd be perfect, it's in a much better school district than we live in, Phoenixville is cool, and it's way closer to work for me. Completely not in our price range.
  22. Even since I was a kid: why are there style points in Ski Jumping? Whomever gets furthest down the hill wins, full stop.
  23. I think at even sniper distances it's minimal. http://dizzib.github.io/earth/curve-calc/index.html?d0=3&h0=6&unit=imperial If that's accurate, standing at 4 miles (6 feet tall), you'd be able to see all but a person's boots. It goes downhill (figuratively and literally!) quickly though, at 5 miles you'd miss anything below the groin, and at 6 miles, you'd miss an entire 6 foot person entirely. I really think getting up high is about getting over ground clutter and hills.
  24. There's an interesting place over in Amish Country that looks like Nebraska. When I'm there, all I can see in any direction is flat fields. I'm pretty sure it's actually a very shallow bowl, as the area around that is pretty hilly. Because I'm at ground level I can't see over the slight rise that surrounds me. If I were probably 10 or 20 feet up, I'd see over the rise and see the mountains, farms, and everything else around me. If you're at ground level, anything more than 6 feet tall is going to block your sight line past that.
  25. Royal Farms Fried Chicken. It was a weak moment; I fasted for some blood work and after I was done, I didn't have enough blood sugar or actual blood left to resist. It was worth it.
