IIRC, he was UFA so canned seems like a pejorative term in this case. The Blues didn't resign a rental that didn't work out.

Hmm, I wonder if I should adjust the Lost Point Countdown next year. :) Also: I love how the NHL makes it nearly impossible to find the regular season standings now. I had to Google it, and the NHL site didn't come up.

Movies / TV Shows - I Have Watched / Plan To Watch
MattPie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not sure about power fantasy, but RPO and Armada (another of his books) follow similar scripts: teen kid who games too much is vindicated. I chalk that up to "writing what you know", but I've never been one to read a ton of subtext into things so I'm sure to be missing things. Haven't seen the movie, read those two books. They were fun enough for what they were but they felt like a teen writing with a bunch of cliches (see: Eragon). You can release just about any fantasy or video game movie and a certain population will eat it up. :) Armada Spoiler below. -
The Season Finale GDT Buffalo at Florida 4/7/18 7pm MSG GR

Man, I had to look that up. Been a long time I did anything in Java. I do like the first Google link is, "java - When does System.gc() do anything", LOL. As for scrap and re-implement, we're in the process of re-writing all our Ansible playbooks/roles anew using the things we've learned to make them bigger, faster, and stronger. We could take what we have and tweak, but clean-sheet seems the way to go. The first part has been to build some stand alone systems entirely using the playbooks. It's strangely gratifying to do a minimal install on a piece of hardware (which I think I got the custom installer working tonight so we don't even have to install that by hand), run a command from another machine and 30 minutes later you have a fully configured system with 10 VMs running. A second command on the host itself and the VMs are all configured 30 minutes after that. -

Maybe not in machinery, but there are certainly times in software where it's more effective to throw everything out and start from a blank slate. I'm not ready to apply that to sports, though. -
You know, by this logic you'd make a perfect #1 for the Sabres.
-
I'm kinda surprised you didn't vote for yourself. In the "hate to see" portion of the poll.

24 hours kid-puke free! :)

Nice LTS. Good to see the Sabres draw a good matchup for one of the last games of the season.

LOL! RosePIe update: It's probably a combination of things; she did have her daily ration of 3 pieces of Easter candy this morning (that's why it was molten chocolate, and she usually wats them later in the day). She also now has a fever and is miserable, so she's sick too. Ugh, can I stay at work until after bed time?
-
That seems to be the area where it's hit or miss. I'm not sure of the stats, but I bet it's less than 50% of players picked there play a large portion of the next season.

I don't think so this time; we were in traffic that was moving slowly. She has had car sickness issues before, but not often the last couple months I've been driving her to school in the morning.
-
Yesterday, halfway to taking RosePie to preschool, she starts complaining that her neck and/or throat hurts and her stomach hurts. She's been around her sick cousin and an indoor playground this week so it's entirely possible she's actually sick. She's also out of it, so I drive back home to drop her off. She's OK when she's at home. Faker. This morning, we get about halfway to preschool and the same thing happens. I tell her she's fine and she shouldn't lie about being sick. Molten chocolate lava puke all over herself 30 seconds later. I do my best to clean up on the side of the highway and then back home to drop her off. Primary complaint: the person who designs car seats that simultaneously collect molten chocolate puke in places that are impossible to clean up and yet have enough holes in the bottom that plenty leaks out. Luckily, I have a tray-like thing under the seat that managed to collect it before it got further.

OK, so stay away from Josh *AND* Jake Allen in the draft/trade?

GDT: Rochester Ameri... err Buffalo Sabres vs Sens 4-4-18 7:30p EDT
MattPie replied to pi2000's topic in The Aud Club
Hey man, that's not the SabreSpace inclusive atmosphere we're trying to foster here. I think people can hold their breath in any manner they like. If they have the willpower to actually do it, they'll just pass out and start breathing again. -
There's a node.js version on Gitlab, maybe that'd be easier.
-
Can I have it play when either team scores? I'd like to hear it more than a few times per week.
-
And, BLOCKED.
-
Hey man, don't try to saddle all of WNY with the garbage plate. That is Rochester's Shame alone.

That's some double awesome right there, nice Josie! I passed the Red Hat Certification Exam for Openstack Cloud Administrator earlier this week; this is the first weekend I haven't had studying hanging over my head in months. I still have lots of work hanging over my head, but that's different. :)

I'm trying to think of the ramifications of not using this system. There's have to be a cut-off for the roster (presumably earlier in the day) where you couldn't add a player. I guess this would affect skaters too, get hurt in warm-ups? Too bad, skate with 19. So you'd start the game with one goalie. When that golaie gets hurt, everyone twiddles their thumbs for like 20 (?) minutes while one of the skaters puts on the gear. Now you have a skater that possibly never played goal in his life out there trying to stop pucks. If he doesn't twist of sprain anything, odds are there'd be a number of goals scored while this guy flops around. Style points for teams that try to intentionally injure the goalie if there's only one left. Yeah, this seems like a good way to decide games. Let's do it. This is way better than an awesome story about the league being fun.

Wait, wut? I'm pretty sure several of the anti-tank aren't millennials. Did I miss some sarcasm here?

A minivan is a vehicle is vehicle for people that aren't so vain that they need to drive a large SUV. Do it. I was curious at one point, Van-dor the Unstoppable is almost exactly the same size inside (150cu ft, maybe?) as a modern Suburban, but you can put 4x8 sheets of stuff and 10 ft lengths of lumber in the van.
-
That seems a bit obvious considering GM literally picked Pu. FWIW, it seems like we're starting to see GMTM's strength in drafting with Borgen, Pu, Asplund, and (that D.. Davidson? that seems pretty good), all from not-the-first round. It seems like the guy couldn't make a good trade to save his life but his picks seem OK.

Sabres streak: 448 consecutive games without being above .500(inc OTL)
MattPie replied to matter2003's topic in The Aud Club
I'm guessing that if you use a meaningful metric like points per game it's shorter?
