  1. That's OK, some are setting it rather high. Are Swedes known for bombast and hype? Newly appointed national team coach, and former bench boss of Sweden's U20 team, Rikard Grönborg referred to Asplund as the new Henrik Zetterberg, saying that they have the same mind for the game.
  2. There are two of you?!!?
  3. I will admit the thought occurred to me. :) Nice work, Josie!
  4. Loving the R9T and R1200RT-Ps in that picture. (those are motorcycles)
  5. You're right; Royal Wedding has a novelty to it; there probably won't be another for a couple decades. Sadly, the same cannot be said for Kardashians.
  6. Generally speaking, I think it goes back to the Jewish calendar, which predates solar calendars and the Religions that grew out of Judiasm, Christianity and Islam[0], kept some of the lunar calendar structure. It's easier to count lunar months than solar years for early civilizations. The Mayan calendar is decidedly non-Lunar, though, but they were accomplished astronomers. It was a bit of an eye-opener when I was in Thailand, as they use a solar calendar using the same days as the Gregorian Calendar, but they use the Buddhist Era as a start point so it's 2561 there. First time I encountered non-CE years. [0] I hope I'm not offending anyone here, but those three are closely related

    Bobby Hull

You're right to be skeptical. It's also not impossible that no one in the western hockey press would dare write a take down piece on a Canadian National hero. I'm stereotyping here but, being an old white guy from rural Canada, I'd say it's a higher-than-average chance that "Crazy Uncle Bobby" holds some views that are deplorable. Maybe he could run of office in Illinois..
  8. This is part of the normal flow of pre-draft hype, right? It seems like (almost) every year people start to scrutinize the likely top picks and someone always writes about how the consensus #2-3 pick might be as good as #1.
  9. I'm not sure if that's a typo, but I love it.
  10. Very cool! I have a big bag of Genmaicha tea at home, which is a mix of roasted rice and green tea. It's an interesting taste.
  11. It may be worth noting there's a power dynamic here; Friedman (I'd think) ranks way higher than Mike Harrington. Harrington is likely going to be on best behavior around him so he doesn't alienate a more powerful "colleague" in the media. MH seems like the kind of guy that sucks up to his superiors and talks down to anyone "below" him.
  12. Bring Nick Lidstrom in as an advisor or scout. :)
  13. It was the second round, so seems right.
  14. I'll really getting the feeling Brandon was really tight with the TBN guys. Maybe he brought the hookers and blow or something.
  15. That sounds like a great oppurtunity, even in "Region 11" sounds like some shadowy government agency in a Sci-fi plot.
  16. My neighbor has started leaving the light at the back of his house on 24/7. It's gonna be great enjoying a nice evening looking at the stars with a 100W equivalent bulb shining into my yard. The houses are close enough to be really annoying.
  17. Two Decades.
  18. I "noticed" earlier, but my brain often substitutes words so I figured I was seeing things. I shouldn't doubt the power of my mind, LOL.
  19. I used to travel to another site and do some crazy IT stuff in support of experiments; "Pizza Night" was code for "we're staying until midnight. I do miss it though.
  20. I'm sure you could, but scoring 7 points per game for a (small) stretch against your peers is still incredible.
  21. I can't believe it! No one could have predicted this!
  22. LOL. Garbage Plate belongs in the garbage.
  23. On the flip side, a bottom-pair D like Nelson would have to wonder if bringing the a new hotshot D pushes him into the pressbox or AHL.
  24. Buffalo will have the better roster when they're ahead of Toronto for a number of games in the standings, or ahead in games in a series, and not a moment before. Fool me once, shame on you Sabres; fool me twice... you can't get fooled again!
  25. A quick look says he's an Ops person, so probably not. Ops is mostly getting widgets out and supply chain stuff. It's entirely likely he hasn't written a line of code since college (and that's only if Industrial Engineering in 1982 including writing some FORTRAN on punch cards).
