  1. Why can't the Sabres find these gems in the rough?
  2. I looked at the others, they seem like frankly average (for this area of SE PA) messy highway interchanges to me. A Wegmans I frequent is in the middle or this one. There are a lot of ramps coming and going but you get used to it. https://www.google.com/maps/@40.0835564,-75.4001734,16z This is the Hanger Lane Gyratory, which just seems like a really big traffic circle to me. It's often at the top of the UK list. https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5304657,-0.2935158,395m/data=!3m1!1e3
  3. I suspect you'll be disappointed. This has all the hallmarks of something that'll be resolved behind closed doors (one way or another) which will allow people to steer into whatever prejudices[0] they already had. [0] that's 'little-p' prejudices, not a race thing; things like "stars get preyed upon", "athletes are womanizing jerks", etc.
  4. There are 25 ahead of him, and 16 in the same place, right? Wait, I forgot NHL Rule 314.15pa: If a Buffalo player is tied with other players in any stat, the Buffalo player loses the tiebreaker. If two or more Buffalo players are tied in any stat, they are ordered in terms of increasing salary behind all other players tied in that stat."
  5. Without looking, are spots 26 through 42 all the same number of points? It's equally disingenuous to say he's 26th or 42nd if that's the case.
  6. That's nice and all, but: 1> did he grow up on a farm? 2> what glove size does he wear?
  7. I'm sure serious cookeryists will argue, but the $15 knife I bought from IKEA is sufficient until you're really good. I'm not.
  8. The Magic Roundabout in Swindon, England, was constructed in 1972[1] and is a ring junction consisting of five mini-roundabouts arranged around a sixth central, anticlockwise roundabout. Located near the County Ground, home of Swindon Town F.C., its name comes from the popular children's television series The Magic Roundabout. In 2009 it was voted the fourth scariest junction in Britain.[2] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_Roundabout_(Swindon)
  9. IT was light last night at my house, probably 150-200 kids rather than the 300+ in years past. Strange too, because it was a gorgeous night. Maybe one of the newer developments are syphoning off the commuters. I dig it, take a couple beers out to the driveway and give out candy for 2 hours. There are rules in my town that it's only from 6-8, and since it's constant we don't bother with answering the door. Oh, and play this album on my phone the whole time:
  10. These lines are scary good.
  11. I developed my love of cooking watching Alton Brown's Good Eats. I dig the science-y approach to cooking. The cookbooks based on the show are good too; you can usually find the episode on youtube so you can watch someone make the dish and then try it at home. Most of my cooking lately has been Instant Pot, since it's easier to manage a 4-year-old while doing it. I have a pretty good Instant Pot Cookbook at home that I'll share if anyone is interested.
  12. It's not the North American style of rough and tumble (see, Bogosian as of late?), but he's not afraid to mix it up in front of the net, hit people, and occasionally fight.
  13. The Peterman era begins again!
  14. It's a little section of this. Getting into the Halloween Spirit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triptych_of_the_Temptation_of_St._Anthony
  15. Yep, you got it. The season-point-pace is 97Rock (96.9). OTLs lose a little ground, but only 0.15 points as the team needs to average 1.15 points per game to hit 94. To put it another way, the team could go per 10 games 2-0-8 for the entire season and hit 98 points. Similarly, 4-2-4 would yield 12 points per ten games and hit 98.
  16. Quinoa and kombucha are both awesome. I'm not sure I buy some of the more outlandish health claims for kombucha, but it's good and a bunch of good gut bacteria can't be bad for you. I'm just sad that I screwed up my SCOBY last week because I was in a hurry so I need to get a new one.
  17. Went to a game in Philly with a friend. I wore my jersey, he wore a Roenick 97 that he's had forever. You may remember the game, Sabres led 2-0 at the end of the first, Kassian fought Sestito and won. Sabres lost 7-2. Nothing bad happened in the stands. Some half-hearted smack and chuckles was all. http://www.hockeyfights.com/fights/109943 (I forgot how bad the announcers were during that era)
  18. I've considered resurrecting the charts, but I don't think I'm committed enough to keep up. For now, this is probably the best you'll get. ? Realistically, until the last maybe 10 games of the season, "The Pace" is as good an indicator as any. We pretty much know the #8 seed will have between 92 - 96 points, tracking the nearby teams in the standings is fun, but not really required.
  19. I have to say I'm surprised and happy. It's been a long time since I'd even consider it possible.
  20. Does that change anyone’s view of the matter? I still think it reflects an antiquated view of offensive foobaw. Not much, due to the bold part. Most modern coaches would be talking about a balanced attack to keep the defense off-balance. This quote is "it's a pass driven league, but I'm still only passing when forced".
  21. Sleepy Hollow, I'll watch that in the next week or so. Young Frankenstein is a good one too, thanks for reminding me, @Sabel79
  22. I never really believed this until I started doing the math for Lost Point. A few bad games early, and even winning two in a row the Sabres still need the next one to get back to a playoff pace. They're in the wildcard slot right now, but on pace for 91 points which is safe to say *not* going to make the playoffs.
  23. I'm wary of the NHL environment for 2 or 3 of Vanek's first 4 years. So many points to be had those years.
