  1. That's the thing about Risto, he has this fearless creative streak at times. Hopefully, the previous coaching was hampering that and we'll see more of the razzle-dazzle at the right times. Let's not forget this one:
  2. While I'm not as negative as this, it is looking like the Sabres are a .500 point team with a stretch of wins for a few weeks.
  3. I think most of the time it's not a big deal when the divisions are fairly balanced. Not so much when the series look like 1-8, 4-7, 2-3, and 5-6.
  4. Also, welcome Wrangsie!
  5. 1, pi2000. I think he's the only poster here that played a high level. I assume he potted 20 in a season at some point. Oh, you meant we including the Sabres?
  6. That breaks up the streak. I'm not opposed to that view, but you can also look at it as: 1 thru 15: 80-something pace 10 wins 1-3-2 These last five games make me think games 1-15 were the "real" team. I hope I'm wrong.
  7. That's optimistic until proven otherwise. The Sabres were not playing at that pace before the winning streak, it remains to be seen if they'll be suddenly better now. Actually, if they'd played 12 points per 10 games all season, they'd be in a playoff spot regardless.
  8. 1> More like they *caused* a bunch of Indian burial grounds 2> IIRC, the nuns were from LA, just happened to be a Philly news site that was linked.
  9. Oh right, lawyers. That makes sense.
  10. Speakerphone? Maybe because he's not a psychopath.
  11. FWIW, a football field is 53.33 yards wide (I looked it up), so 160 feet. Add in sidelines and having a 200 ft rink set in there sideways makes sense. As the article mentions, there are moving fields (like in Arizona). Roll the grass out to one side, have ice below in the "endzone", and build-in seats on the side that there aren't already seats. I'm not saying I like this plan, but I do see the draw.
  12. Initially thought this was about large headphones (as for music, just like your dad had in the 70s but not brown), and voted normal. Then I realized it we were talking about the passed-trend of single ear units, only for work. If I'm on the phone with someone, odds are I'm also typing something to break whatever it is they're talking about. Some sort of single-side headphone is nearly a requirement. I have a USB wired for my computer, a similar thing for my desk phone in the office (that I almost never use; voice calling through the computer 95% of the time). I have a boom BT unit at home for work when I got sick of moving the USB one back and forth. That was a mistake, the BT connection to the laptop doesn't work as well as my phone; should have gone with USB. The BT unit does work with an 1/8" cable though, so I use that far more than the actual BT. Thanks for joining me in headset chat! Subscribe on your favorite podcast app or on the web! I'm working on a telecomm system at work right now where 70% of *homes* in the target country have fax machines. At least once a week I hear the dulcid tones of a fax machine sync.
  13. No order: The Ref White Christmas Christmas in Connecticut Santa Claus Conquers the Martians Die Hard 2 (just kidding, the plot summary is stupid)

    I have issues counting.

I need to update the Lost points, but this stretch of 0-4-2 has almost wiped out the lead they had on the playoff bubble. They now need to play at a 94-point pace for the rest of the season to get to 94 points, and *maybe* make the playoffs. That's something they were not doing before the streak, and it remains to be seen if they can now.
  16. Welcome! You're completely right, other than the scoring part; I'm not sure I'd expect that from that line no matter how long they're together. There's a great post recently by Randall Flagg discussing how good that 4th line defensively, but it keeps getting broken up for some doghouse player. The end of the post comes down to: keep Skinner - Eichel - Pominville together, keep 28, 22, 81 together, and cycle in healthy scratches and guys in the middle two lines until something clicks.
  17. It'd be interesting to find out if part of that is the (presumably) good drive starts teams are getting against the Bills' sub-mediocre offense. Your D can be good in yards per game if the opposing team only has to go 40-50 yards each possession to score. ?
  18. That third line looks terrible.
  19. This one goes out to @New Scotland (NS)
  20. She posted to the team, that's where I heard about it. Oh, awesome:
  21. Hey, a friend of mine lost her neckalce at the Sabres game (section 112) or Labatt Brew house the other night. It contains her dad's ashes so understandably she's hoping to find it. If anyone happened to find a necklace with Dad 1943-2013 inscribed on it, let me know.
  22. I'm loving the KC Chiefs -> KFC Chefs joke.
  23. Maybe this belongs in Music, but: I'm listening to At Folsom Prison (the 1999? version with a lot of chatter between songs). Twice, someone comes on and announces names that have to be somewhere (One inmate is "Batshelter", awesome name). How much would it suck to be in prison, listening to Johnny Cash live, and have to leave?
  24. I don't disagree entirely, but there are a sizeable set of STHs that view their seats as an investment. They'd be foolish to pass up their greatest profits of the season.
  25. Carolina wouldn't sell tickets to non-NC-ish zipcodes for a few days when they made the playoffs in 2006; luckily there were still plenty of good seats available when that ban expired. That's about the best you'd see, but then some enterprising Buffalo residents will capitalize on that and re-re-sell them. It's just one of those things, I think. Leafs fans are passionate and with the high prices in Toronto (the GS), there's going to be high demand for Leafs games in Buffalo.
