True, although in year 8, barring LITR injury or a complete nosedive, Skinner will sign somewhere for at least 1m. It's not a bad gamble to leave 1m on the table betting that you'll pick up an extra 2-3m in year 8.

The Sabres now need another 10-game streak to get back to 97-point pace, then need to win 5 of the remaining 8 games to maintain. 15-2-1. Who knows, maybe this is the first year in a few that someone sneaks in at 93 points. That's a cushy 13-4-1 from here.

Am I the only person that, when someone is an @#()*% to/around me I quit trying for that person? If you can't be a human being to other people, I ain't got time for that. The late 1st is probably overrated, there was a post here in the last few weeks showing the "knee" of the pick success odds is around #23, meaning picks 23 to 31 aren't much more likely to hit than early second round. It's sticker shock, but in terms of results this wouldn't be much different than giving the Sabres (presumably early) second round pick*. There's just a cachet to "1st round pick". I haven't been paying attention, did @jame flame-out? I figured he'd be all over this thread. * I don't know if the Sabres actually have a second this year, it's just an example.

And yet, people here continue to complain about Svbotka getting ice time. I don't have an opinion on his play as I've been letting my NHL.tv subscription go to waste for months, but if the coach did demote people that weren't trying, the fans here would just complain about that.

The Sabres season, in terms of points per game can be summed up as: mediocre, the streak, sub-mediocre. That's not going to change this season.

The 10-game records help too: 6-3-1, 5-1-3. That's a lot more wins than losses.

Taxes aren't done yet, but that's what's looking like. I must be in the goldilocks zone where the new standard deduction isn't as much as what I was deducting before but my marginal rate is the same.
