  1. The Sabres need to pick up 16 points every 10 games for the remaining 23 games, it's fire-sale time. That's 8-2-0, or for all 23 something like 16-5-2. He's bad at math if he does.
  2. I think you answered your own question. ? Upthread pi2000 sounded like he knew (and has "connections"); Bogo did the math and he *should* have plenty of money in the bank, so losing out on ~$1.5M is worth the gamble that he'll end up on a playoff team as depth, something good will happen, and he'll have a contract next year rather than being retired. I give him credit for believing in himself, and I even hope it works out for him.
  3. I hadn't run the numbers in awhile, ugh. Sabres need to pick up 15 of 20 points per ten games for the rest of the season. Somehow, I don't think 7-2-1 for the rest of the season is going to happen.

    Relegation

@MODO Hockey IIRC, MODO (the team, not the poster) was relegated a couple years ago. I don't remember the league names over there, so I'll use NA hockey equivalents of roughly what I remember - The AHL does a whole playoff structure - The best two AHL teams play the worst two NHL teams 7-games - If the NHL team wins the series, they stay in the NHL - If the AHL team wins, they're in the NHL; player contracts on the losing NHL team are largely voided and the players become free agents
  5. Thanks for ruining my dream that we'd actually be able to trade $CURRENT_WHIPPING_PLAYER for an actual bag of pucks. Thoughts above on players and data: I'm not too surprised that the star players aren't asking for the data; they're already doing something that works, so the have no motivation to look at it. It's more likely some bubble guy would be interested as an advantage to stay in the league. But really, that's not necessarily the players' job. It's up to the coaching staff to look at and synthesize the data into Xs and Os to improve individual player performance or the scheme. That being said, I suspect before long you'll have players that do analyze the data and use it, and it may be an epiphany much like Brind'amour and his workout ethic changed the game in the 90s.
  6. Sure, just come up with very valid historical facts.
  7. I think ideally it'd be the Browns or Steelers if you're going for history, since the other old NFL teams are all NFC.
  8. I'm working an overseas telecom project, and the customer won't let us leave anything connected overnight (for them), so I have to wait until the folks get on-site, start up a laptop that I can remotely connect to and then quit when they leave. With the time difference, that's been roughly 4AM EST.
  9. No worries, I'm sure you went right back to thinking about them after you posted.
  10. I could get behind getting rid of place-kicking. Start post-score drives on the 20/25, and there's no reason to punt from the opponents 45 or so. I think without punts the games would look far too one-sided.
  11. So how does this work, for instance if it had been Ehlers, would you still have yelled "EHLERS!" or would be be "NEXT_BEST_MOOSEHEADS_PLAYER" when talking draft? :)
  12. The Sabres need 1.37 PPG for the rest of 39 games this season to hit 98 (Taro-Pie .600) points. That's 10-game records of 5-1-4 (that's that streak we all excited about), 6-2-2, 7-3, or better. Playing a whole season at that pace would net 112 points. Do the 2020 Sabres have it in them to be among the best teams in a decade? (Answer: really unlikely)
  13. Completely give you that one, I think I'm on the wrong track; I was working on the "the NFL didn't want Baltimore or KC to have to face the Bills" tangent.
  14. I'm bad at math, see my update; 716+585 is almost the same population as KC metro area.
  15. If we're going purely on population, you have a point with Baltimore, but the KC metro area is around the same as Buffalo+Rochester (not counting Lower Ontario). What possible reason would the NFL have to prefer the Chiefs over the Bills?
  16. Taking off your pants after wearing them all day.
  17. Welcome back, XC! I saw your name back in another thread and thought "Hey everybody it's Falco Crosschecking! Crosschecking is back!" Anything back in the past is all water under the Peace Bridge.
  18. I'm not sure I buy that. I love me some kombucha, but what I've had (and made) is way sweeter than any beer. It's a substitute for pop, and you can make mixed drinks out of it through.
  19. I agree. Iron Hill's food is pretty good but their beer isn't elite. Root Down in Phoenixville is fantastic, BTW, as is Bluebird Distilling.
  20. We make the house smell of elderberries using a pressure cooker. 2 c of dried berries to 6c of later yields around 7 cups of liquid after straining. We experimented with adding stuff like cinnamon and honey but have gotten back to straight juice.
  21. I've been to a few games here, it's generally not too bad. Some ribbing but nothing too bad. I was walking around with a friend in a Philly Roenick jersey, so that may have softened it some.
  22. I disagree, but I do like No Doubt's version.
  23. "You can't tell your mom about this." "No."
