  1. It's like a low-formatting printout of twitter with more ads.
  2. I'm guessing Scandinavian populace didn't let Russian trolls (and a certain prolific tweeter) convince them that mask usage was weak and wore them even if not mandatory. AITA: I've been riding the bike a lot this year (for me, ~300 miles since April) and I don't wear a mask. Most of that is on streets so there's no issue maintaining distances as I pass pedestrians. I was on a bike trail yesterday and due to the size of the trail and people walking 2-3 wide even after a alert them or ring the bell, I'm passing closer than that. What would Ann Landers tell me?
  3. That's actually a really cool concept. I applaud them for giving it a go.
  4. You need to cut out that "retard" stuff. Bad look.
  5. Damn it, I was thinking this all through the thread and you beat me to it.
  6. And for a more soft reason, teams will want to know their UFA/RFA and desires based on the post-season before drafting (or trading around draft picks for players).
  7. I mean, this is hockey. It's not unusual to require emergency dental work. Do you want to be searching the Boston phonebook for a dentist after taking a puck to the face in the morning skate? Actually, now I'm wondering if the dentist travels with the team or are they in the office/on call whenever there are players (home or opponents) in the building. So if a Bruin takes a puck to the face ol' Doc Croglio patches him up.
  8. I've been fading away for awhile now, and if the team is heading towards a grinding game I'm out. I do realize you can play fast and skilled AND have all those "blue-collar" attributes, but those players are pretty hard to come by.
  9. The Lackers And Done The Residents of the United States of America Uriah Meep The Meatles Mage Against the Machine (I see some awesome 70s van-art album covers from that one) Manthrax Reel Big Dish Legendary Pink Pots
  10. Ah, cool. There's a path/trail on the top of the flood barrier all along US15 in Williamsport too. Around here the Schuylkill River Trail is the place to go if you want to hit longer distances without a lot of road; it's in sections, but from here it's complete-ish all the way into Philly (+-20 miles). The parts I've seen are mostly flat, other than a moderate hill right here near Phoenixville where they couldn't follow the river. https://schuylkillriver.org/map/
  11. Make sense. Many people aren't going to commit 3-9 hours of football on Sunday and 2-3 NHL games the rest of the week.
  12. I'm been riding a bit lately too, and I did 12 miles in around an hour on Monday. Paved and gravel fairly flat canal trail and streets, on my (I guess) vintage 2001 Trek 4900 MTB.That's way more than the usual 4-6 mile quick ones I do most of the time. Around here, the bike trails are generally pretty flat since they're rail or canal, but the roads you can end up in decent hills really quickly (think southern Erie County).
  13. Voted No as well. There have been shortened seasons before. There are been seasons where 2/3 of the teams were in the playoffs. This is a strange one, but not so far outside the lines that it needs special recognition.
  14. I've kinda told myself that if I keep this up for a year or so I'll spoil myself on something. I've had a few bicycle starts that didn't take; I'm a few weeks into it. Nice thing is I picked up a Burley Piccolo on CL for RosePie and she seems to dig riding. We did 4 miles today on mildly hilly roads. When I do ride alone, not pulling 60lbs of kid and bike around is a revelation, LOL.
  15. If I were more daring, I'm sure the good motorcycle roads are a treat right now. I remember friends telling me about the Blue Ridge Parkway during a government shutdown. It was open (like, the gates weren't closed), but at the first parking area they saw a ton of ranger vehicles parked. That road is OK at 45, great at 55-60, and would be spectacular when empty and at higher speeds. Complaint: I missed that trip. I'm not riding now. Even a minor mishap would result in a trip to the hospital, and they have enough on their hands. I have been bicycling a bunch, which has it's own risks but short of getting hit by the minimal number of cars probably won't land me in a hospital. Complaint: I'd love a better road/gravel bike. My 20-year-old Trek MTB is fine and all but is a lot of work to pedal around.
  16. That'd be a lot of fun. Back around that time I was looking for something sporty to complement my BMW (which is no slouch on the street but can't hang at a track day) and the Aprillas were on my radar. IIRC, they were more compact that the usual competitors (not a plus for me being relatively large) but that sound of the 60 degree V. I love naked bikes (or "standards" as they used to call them). Far more comfortable for the street than a full-blown sport bike and 99% as effective. If the price is right, go far it. At 12 years old, it's past most of the depreciation curve so even if you sell it in a year or two it'll probably be nearly the same price.
  17. Got a link other than "my friend's phone"? Meanwhile, PA Gov closed schools for the next two weeks starting Monday.
  18. PA Gov Wolf has closed all schools for 10 business days. Not surprised, we've been kinda prepared to have RosePie home for a couple weeks. We're lucky; MrsPie doesn't work and I'm able to be full-time telecommuter, so this isn't bad for us at all. In other circumstances, I'd take some time off and go somewhere.
  19. Huh, don't know why I thought that. Thanks.
  20. Besides, that was attributed to Vitamin E Acetate. If nothing else, those vape deaths would have infected people around them if it were a coronavirus. https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2019/11/11/20959198/vaping-vitamin-e-acetate
  21. Tax season, right? It's April 1st in Canada I think.
  22. I know of the studies you're talking about, but I'm pretty that's predicated on the students also being a full day of class. It's not homework or independent learning that negative, it's that kids are expected to do it after spending an entire day in school. (I'm happy to be proven wrong though)
