Because for certain groups, your brand is nothing if you can't put it on some crappy products. All the DB bros will eat that ***** up. (pun totally intended)

First, my post came off way more adversarial than I meant, mea culpa. Second, unlikely I'll see you in the GDT. I gave up a couple years ago for a number of reasons. Maybe if the Sabres get good again before I die (I'm in my mid-40s, so I give it 50/50 odds) I'll be able to care, but it's not right now. I only really come here because I like the people.

I don't disagree, but prime-time national games aren't aimed at an NFL-savvy audience, just like the Stanley Cup Finals and Superbowl are not broadcast like regular season games. Just mute and move on, I guess.

On the flip side, why be a fan if nothing turns you on and everything boils your blood?

I'm wondering (but enough to go look) if he's like Joe Buck, where everyone thinks he's rooting for the other team. Which probably means, as a national broadcaster, he's doing his job.

Is the Allen Hurdle going to be like the Soupy Campbell spin-o-rama, where every once in awhile he busts it out and everyone can't believe he did it and it worked? I can live with that.

Dreger: Eichel situation may be shifting, multiple teams involved
MattPie replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
I haven't been following closely, there's the "usual" surgery, and the one Jack wants. Since neither seem to want to budge, could he heal on his own? Or does some surgery have to happen or he's LITR for the next 5 years? -

ROR: was a healthy 1C on many teams, terrible return. Eichel: injured 1C on most teams, anyone thinking another team will trade the same as a healthy Eichel is dreaming. I seriously doubt any team is to pay full value (as defined as a healthy Jack). There's risk to trading for Eichel because he may not come back to 100% (or at all); that's going to downgrade his price. The only way Jack draws full price is if he heals up (one way or another) and proves he's 100%. Otherwise it'd be incredibly dumb for a GM to bet the farm on him. -

Surgery: $35000 Voided Contract if goes wrong and he never plays again: $50,000,000 (or something like that) As others have said, there are a lot of moving parts. Jack, the Sabres, other teams, and probably most of all, insurance. No one wants to eat/lose $50M on a gamble. -
Sabres Send Jack Quinn and Brett Murray to Rochester
MattPie replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
I was reading something earlier around Binghamton's team (FPHL or some odd league), and there was a guy that played a game or two in the NHL that put up like 2-3 points per game and more than a goal a game for a season. We do take things for granted but all the bubble guys are still pretty incredible at their sport. -
Most likely: someone legitimately changed something and broke, either Facebook's network folks or their upstream provider. I was just talking a friend at work, and she mentioned that even if you're working on something that's not right at the edge between you and your ISP, the errors can propagate to the edge router and mess things up too, so may have been something deeper in the network. It's entirely possible someone did it on purpose to make a statement too, although I'd *hope* that at this level there are good controls on who can make changes, right? RIGHT? Insider threat is always the hardest one to protect against.

I think you meant "you can't tell me what to do, you're not my real dad" because that's all I'm hearing from those two right now.
-
My distaste for the Sabres is becoming a distaste for sports in general (I'm a token Bills fan and that's about it now). I find myself coming here mostly for the OT stuff, since I like the people; including you!

I read that it's a BGP issue, Facebook's routes are no longer on the network. (BGP is a routing tool where network operators can advertise "I have these networks, you can send me traffic destined for them"; if your router stops advertising those networks, you no longer get the traffic)

I think Morgans are the only cars left using wooden frames. https://www.autoweek.com/car-life/classic-cars/a31118918/are-morgan-cars-still-made-from-wood/ If you're into lighter-weight transportation, there are a few people making wood and bamboo frames for bicycles. https://booomers.com/ https://www.epoxyworks.com/index.php/a-wooden-bicycle-frame/

Bulgaria also produces the cars in the wodden IKEA train sets!

Uh oh, the Packers beat the Steelers, and the Steelers beat the Bills, so that means the Packers are better, right?

I'm betting I'm still in the Sabres market here in Ithaca. I'm pretty sure I was 20-ish years ago in Binghamton too, although that town splits some for the Rangers, especially when the Rangers AHL team was here.
-
I agree, and it's dumb. I guess get YouTube.tv or something that carries TNT may be an option. Are there no games on local TV any more (previously NBC?)
-
In market? Get cable. I doubt the new rights package is giving up the cable channels' exclusive right to show games. Streaming with a cable-provider login or using the quaint RG59 Coax attached to a "TV" is, I'd bet, your only option.
-
The "Out of town" feed for US south of the border would likely be HNIC for any game they cover. Based on last time I had CI/NHL.tv, you'll probably get 0 HNIC over ESPN+ (or whatnot) since those are broadcast locally to your TV/Cable. That was always the rub, when the Sabres were good, you almost had to have cable because a bunch of games would end up on the national broadcast and not stream for 48 hours after the end.

Have no captain for the year: olive branch to Jack in hopes things can be fixed (unlikely, but a 100% and happy Eichel playing for the Sabres is probably the best long-term for the Sabres) Name someone else Captain before the regular season: reasonable; probably burning a bridge with Eichel but that may already be done anyway Name someone else in a big to-do earlier than that: big FU to Eichel, makes the franchise look petty Somewhere around Oct 10th, Sabres just need to name captains like any other year. Anything else is petty BS.

Kevyn Adams has botched the Eichel situation horribly
MattPie replied to dudacek's topic in The Aud Club
That's true. Adams is in a tough spot. If all the offers are something equivalent to "Psysk, Lazar, and a 4th" I'm fine with waiting. If Jack gets to healthy, and refuses to play, maybe it's time to cut bait. But we're not there yet. -
Brian Duff and Marty Biron to Take Over The Instigators
MattPie replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
Agree with this part entirely. Not sure Peters has much chance outside Buffalo-related hockey. Rivet has a couple other teams he could try to latch onto. And I'm not sure there's a making a living wage path forward with their own podcast, although maybe they could float for awhile tapping into the Negative Buffalo Fan market and bad-mouth the team for 2 hours an episode. Not sure what sponsors are up for that though.
