  1. 🤷‍♂️ Who could have possibly predicted this!?
  2. Probably depend on the player. North American players probably value the Stanley Cup for the most part. Everywhere else, most players probably had NHL players or teams they liked, but their real passion is their national league, and country. The FIFA World Cup outshines any of the national leagues there, I don't see a difference for hockey.
  3. Tuch-era postponed...
  4. 82 points probably is a good goal, really. That's "the Sabres played for 2/3 of a season at a playoff bubble place". Given some of the current roster, I'd be pretty happy with that result.
  5. Had a little flood over here, had to throw the wet blankets somewhere. 🙂 (just in case, no actual flood, just a poor joke)
  6. 9 points equates to a 11-12 game winning streak, or 11-12 games above average for the rest of the season. How, you ask? To be on playoff pace, you need to capture 1.2 points per game (give or take a few 0.01s depending on the year). Each win is 0.8 points above that number. This isn't insurmountable, but to hit 0.600 points per game (which Boston and Pittsburgh are pacing at right now), the Sabres need 1.37 points per game. Over a full season, that paces 112 points meaning the Sabres need to be one of the top two or three teams in hockey for the next five months.
  7. What I see there is if the Sabres were to play the Leafs every game and maintain their .598 pt%, they'd make the playoffs. Badly worded. There's list which the Tweet calls "most beaten lest", of which the Jest and Eulers are tied at 29.
  8. I think in this case there's merit. Not Khudobin's merit, but the Sabres really do need NHL-level G and this might be an option. You'd be right if this were a JAG-replacement-level forward, we have metric tons of those already.
  9. Ah, much better.
  10. Jabra 75t work well enough for me, use them for work (although the mic isn't as good apparently as the built-in Macbook mic), and work well enough for doing yardwork and other stuff. I don't sit and just listen much, but no complaints there either. I have a decent pair of wired IEMs too, and I rarely use them since the Jabras work well enough.
  11. Team performance? 50/50. UPL's getting shelled in his first NHL game this season? Almost rather play Dell and give UPL the next start.
  12. Will they really fly him there and with no practice with the team start UPL? That seems like a a recipe for a poor outing.
  13. I agree. Good is a relative term, this team isn't, but it's not a tire fire. Maybe I have some PTSD from all those years people would be saying "We can still make the playoffs!" when the math said they have to play 30 games at a 120 pts/season pace to get to where the bubble would likely be. 🙂
  14. NARRATOR: It was too soon to think there were good. It's certainly possible, but the math is tough. 60 games remaining, Sabres are at 19 points. Figuring 96 points gets you into the playoffs most years, that's 77 over the next 60, 1.28 pts/game. Over a full season that's 105 points. Not unreasonable, but that's a pretty solid pace that the Sabres haven't shown any ability to match.
  15. Kinda disappointed the Paisley Pirates' sweaters aren't paisley. But congrats, Steve!
  16. What if it was Joel Lomurno named GM, still good with that plan? He's an ECHL GM too, just not with the name recognition around here Briere has.
  17. This is not a Fugazi post.
  18. I think a player can waive their NMC/NTC whenever they want, but I'm not sure how many GTs waive unless it's Buffalo or the AHL (which may well be the case in Dallas). For that matter, I wonder how many teams are waiting to see if Dallas ends up facing waiving someone and will low-ball offer a low pick.
  19. Technically, he was banished to Missouri. For that matter, maybe we've been looking at the O'Reilly trade wrong; that was balancing out the Miller trade which went badly for the Blues, IIRC.
  20. Back at it today, apparently. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/hockey/7293175-Omaha-Lancers-resuming-hockey-operations-on-Monday
  21. I'm not sure how "great" this is without know how many buildings Calgary had before. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calgary_Fire_of_1886
