  1. It was a breezy 30 here in Buffalo, with a little snow in the air. Back in your box, we don't want to hear it. Buffalo pizza and wings: F'N Fantastic.
  2. I think originally is was the alcohol companies that pushed to have it banned. Why buy a Bud when you can grow some bud in your yard?
  3. Vegan Jerky acquired, haven't tasted it yet. I'll not it's not made from tofu but seitan (pronounced "Miro" :)). I'll try it over the weekend while in Buffalo. I mentioned at I got it to a vegetarian friend who remarked, "awww, that's so sweet that you were thinking of me." Uh, yeah of course I was. ;) Thanks SabreSpace!
  4. Oddly enough, this came up over the weekend. When done in a blind test, it turns out the bottle actually makes the difference. Mexican coke on cans rated lower than HFCS Coke in bottles. I'm not sure if the participants knew about the bottle, or if it's actually related to plastic and aluminum coloring the flavor. Word. I was skeptical since I had them at a friends house in PA and not Buffalo, but he was right that they are pretty good that way. Siggi's (I think, they have it at Wegmans) has a orange ginger flavor that's pretty good. It's also $2.50 per container though.
  5. The sexualization of candy is never a laughing matter.
  6. Spinach salad, and then a Wagner Valley Oatmeal Stout while riding the bicycle on a stand. Might have a spoon or two of ice cream.
  7. Had a productive day at work, that's all I got for today. Oh wait, friends ordered a wild boar rib roast for the weekend. F'N... you know the rest.
  8. Hmm, they apparently have it over at Whole Foods, I'll report back...
  9. Man, WGR is trolling the board for Off-topic stuff now too?
  10. I'd give it a shot. Baked, marinated Tofu is pretty good, I'd think that's not that far off from what we're talking about. I also make a pretty mean Chocolate Tofu Pie. you wouldn't know it has tofu in it, it ends up being like a less dense fudge. I suspect some here just revoked my man-card. But, as a self-respecting man myself, I couldn't care less for what someone else thinks is appropriate for me to eat. :)
  11. True, true. I eat a salad daily consisting of 3oz by weight each of spinach, carrots, and broccoli. Fills a 2 quart bowl but doesn't fill me up for long. The trick I've found is to eat a small portion of something relatively healthy shortly afterwards, like a dozen triscuits or a spoonful of peanut butter. The PB does an amazing job of keeping the hunger away for a couple hours.
  12. We had some pretty heavy rain last week so the salt is largely gone. This time of year, I stick to the main roads where I can anyways. Too much crap on the back roads.

  14. Oh, I'm talking abuot the lazy-bike, er, motorbike this time. :) I do live 30 miles from work in a pretty hilly area. I've entertained thoughts of riding the bicycle to work, but there's just no way it's feasible for me right now unless I'm prepared to get into much better shape *and* leave the house at 6am.
  15. Riding the bike to work and lunch in January is awesome. I'm going to ride at least one day each month this year, I can feel it.
  16. The only thing in English on the bottle is Kitaya, so we'll go with the former.
  17. Last night: Seared Salmon with Old Bay seasoning, spinach salad with Japanese vinaigrette, and some sake. If I had planned ahead, I have wasabi powder and soy sauce, I bet I could have done something more Japanese than Old Bay for the salmon. Today I'm working for awhile, so I probably won't make anything special. I do need to eat up some sweet potatoes and a salad tonight so that's probably dinner right there.
  18. My Sabres playoff beard. I started it January 3rd. I'm not shaving it until the boys win three in a row, climb to 8th in the standings, or I feel like it. :)
  19. - Swapped the summer tires onto the car. I'm hosed if it snows, but at least I'm not on the donut any more. - Going out with a few people tonight for Chinese or Thai food and then some drinks. - Cat checked out fine at the vet this morning. - There's a thread in which chz is talking about nipple clamps.
  20. Far less insipid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrffDM3hHk8 (Nice hair, Jeff!)
  21. LOL. Maybe it's one of those rugged Verizon smart phones. Heh, that reminds me of a friend's answering machine message in his dorm room. "You've reached the high-pressure containment lab at the University at Buffalo. If you'd like to leave a message for Ray, please do so after the beep.". I guess my complaint is I dialed it three or four times before I figured it out.
  22. Slid my pretty, pretty car into a guard rail in the snow on Friday night. Estimate is $5300 (although insurance is paying it). The main complaint is I haven't heard much from the insurance company since Monday, and I can't drive around on the donut spare all the time. I busted the rim with the snow tire on it, so I either have to do 3 snows + donut, 3 snows + 1 summer time, or all 4 summer tires (which two of the rims are beat up on as well). I think the summers are 'close enough' in height (1.6mm different), but that's right at the limit Subaru recommends (2/32"). Not to mention two weeks ago my cat was sick and I had to take him to the emergency vet. I was a few hours from being -1 cat. :(
  23. Some basic barley I made yesterday for lunch (pearled barley and stock simmered until the liquid is all soaked up). First time making it, it's a little bland as is, but I can see it being a good base for some more interesting dishes. Similar texture to risotto, but a bit more chewy. Finished up some spicy pork meatballs the other day, those will be made again.
  24. Cool, thanks for the tips. I had a really strong bottle awhile back... Booker's. That bottle was 126 proof, tough to drink without some water.
