  1. I probably should have said 40% of people that enjoy watching the news, and that's based on my rough perception of hardcore-left, hardcore-right, middle road split. I'll restate: Fox has the "monopoly" on right-leaning cable news. Several other outlets run the spectrum from kinda-middle to rather-lefty, and as such split up the remainder of the demographic. I'll use a tech example: For awhile (and maybe now) Apple was the leading manufacturer of smart phones even though far more Android devices were being sold overall. Apple is the only manufacturer of iPhones, whereas Samsung, Motorola, LG, HTC, and others were splitting up the Android Market.
  2. FWIW, Fox speaks to, say, 40% of the population (I'm spitballing here, someone have the Neilson numbers?). The other 3-5 large news channels and broadcast news divvy up the other 60%. Assuming they all use similar-sized staffs (I wouldn't think # of viewers has an effect on operations), I'd be shocked if Fox wasn't making more profit.
  3. Then, suddenly the man thought to be Martin Mull pulls off his glasses and exclaims, "Gene Parmesan, private detective." Powell Carter uncharacteristcally screams like a little girl, "You got me again!"
  4. Whomever lives adjusts the facts to put them in the right.
  5. Kovalchuk? Where's DeLuca? :) (DeLuca was right, I think Kovalchuk turned out better for NJ than I expected. But this is just silly.)
  6. Just like we don't readily tolerate trolls here, that woman was going about things the wrong way (even if I agree with her position). That'll just be more bait for the conservative blogs to bleat "Look! Those silly liberals are rabid fools, we have to save the country from them!".
  7. I forget that Dethklok is a real thing now.
  8. The previous user of "Glass Case Of Emotion" finally caught up with you and he wants his username back? :)
  9. :w00t: "Screw this, back to drinking and eating wings."

Thoughts? Someone will get bent out of shape. I personally think that person is way too sensitive and needs to get a grip, but they'll make a stink about it. Probably after it's been in place for awhile and they didn't know what diablo translates to. Change the names to White Snakes and Blue Balls. :)
  11. I know it won't last too long as my tolerance for this style is way down, but the "Viking Metal" Pandora channel is pretty epic. I'm rocking out like Toni and Hank.
  12. My little niece and nephew love this song. It's catchy.
  13. Nope, just you. Hahaha.
  14. Makes sense. Since I was only watching while getting ready for the day, all I saw was a batter protecting the stakes and sometimes running; I always had to leave for work before the end of the coverage. I seem to remember a batter just kinda "giving up" or retiring. Is that a thing too?
  15. The Sabres have successfully set my expectations. I'm tried of seeing teams that are OK and never get top-5 draft picks. I'm fully on-board with a horrible season and some high picks.
  16. There was a England v Australia match going while I was in Portsmouth in.. 2007 (one of those multi-day matches). I got a handle on the scoring after watching it in the mornings for awhile, but never got a chance to see how batting order and sides work. It's also odd to watch a sport but not know whether the score is good, bad, or normal.
  17. I wouldn't have been standing that close, but I would have watched it. I'm a sucker for experiencing things most people aren't likely to.
  18. I get your financial analysis, and it make sense. Except, who were they going to spend all that money on in UFA? Doesn't seem like there were many players out there that would be worth it, especially with Buffalo into even worse contracts than those players got since they'd have to offer a lot to get people to look here (as the prevailing wisdom goes).
  19. That's not what was ocuring in the Toronto video, this one was holding pressure until the water came through. The Toronto lid was releasing all the pressure.
  20. I have seen it, but not in this thread yet.
  21. It's venting pressure, so probably not that far, and straight-ish up if it does. Mostly likely it ends up on edge releasing all the pressure, or just barely off to the side.
  22. Looks like Eid al-Adha is generally in that time frame. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_holidays
  23. I heard they used a Compliance Buyout on him. Hahahaha.
  24. NYC (to differentiate from WNY) pizza is lame, not nearly enough structure and crust. Most Philly pizza I've had is a poor imitation of NY pizza, but the Sicilian style (thicker crust and usually square) is the better of the two options. Measuing the servings is the key there. As long as you're honest with yourself and have soime restraint it's not *that* hard to lose weight. Speaking for myself, at least. Once I got serious about paying attention to what I ate, I lost a similar amount of weight as you mention, eventually totalling 70 lbs in 10 months.
  25. Thanks! Yeah, that stuff is pretty good. They have it at the Wegman's here, always tempted when I see it. Thanks for the Dechutes tip, my wife used to live that way and Black Butte Porter was her go-to. Seems Deschutes is setting up distribution on the East Coast so you'll start seeing more of it around. A pretty good list of places, I've been to most of them. Damn, now I want to go out tonight.
