    Please. Every player on the Sabres was either drafted by the team or brought in from another team (maybe not Rudy, but he's only playing when other players are hurt). They're not signing players off the beer team over at Leisure Rinks. Sure, the Sabres picked up a few on waivers, but I seem to remember the Islanders doing the same thing last year and making the playoffs. The only players they traded away (other than McNabb) were UFA at the end of the season (unless I'm forgetting someone). And watching the games (as I am), the team is not good, but they're clearly trying to win games. The only option they could use would be to bring up some of the prospects, which based on the beginning of the season, would be even worse than what we're seeing now (coaching change is clearly a factor there, though).

    If you resign the RFAs, that cap hit doesn't take effect until the next year, though, right? They're still playing out the remainder of whatever contract they're on for 14-15, and the new salary will take effect in 15-16.

    I have to believe that earlier in the year, you keep Leino playing with good players and pray that something flickers and he starts scoring making him attractive for a trade. Now, I suppose you could make the same argument but with a pre-draft trade. I can't imagine that they'd let compliance-buyout day pass with Ville still on the team, though.

    We have a split house here, I love Fried Doug, she loves Funnel Cake. Somehow, we make it work. Had Paczki the other day for fat Tuesday, but really peanut-covered chocolate or E'claire are my jam. Jam, however, are not.
