  1. If you resign the RFAs, that cap hit doesn't take effect until the next year, though, right? They're still playing out the remainder of whatever contract they're on for 14-15, and the new salary will take effect in 15-16.
  2. Ssssshhhh, no one is supposed to know where we are yet. Forget that, just keep all the 2nd shift there running the lines until the roads are passable again.
  3. 65 today, 16 by tomorrow night, 55 Saturday.
  4. Anyone know if there's a prenatal program for the USA Women's Hockey team?
  5. I'm calling it now: Bills will go 6-10 (+-1) this season. That's the prediction I've been making since 1996.
  6. If you're a Maiden fan, make sure to wait until 2:20 or so for the second part. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucDQlnvU5FM
  7. I have to believe that earlier in the year, you keep Leino playing with good players and pray that something flickers and he starts scoring making him attractive for a trade. Now, I suppose you could make the same argument but with a pre-draft trade. I can't imagine that they'd let compliance-buyout day pass with Ville still on the team, though.
  8. Max would seem to be an Apple Fritter, frittering away the puck and whatnot.
  9. Oh how I wish they'd poll for what song the Sabres should skate out to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=-kqAfffOfHY#t=25
  10. We have a split house here, I love Fried Doug, she loves Funnel Cake. Somehow, we make it work. Had Paczki the other day for fat Tuesday, but really peanut-covered chocolate or E'claire are my jam. Jam, however, are not.
  11. I'd say the only thing it really affects is if there was a plan to flip him at the draft. Would have been good to see him play hard for some weeks to pump up his stock.
  12. I'd say the *only* reason would be he has a burning desire to play for the Sabres. While I think that's possible, I wouldn't bet my SS-bux bankroll on it.
  13. Fixed that for you. I kid somewhat, but it seems to me that other than a few years, Sabres teams start terribly and get better after January. Hell, this year is an example just that the scale is even lower than most years.
  14. OT! ;)
  15. In Maryland, most of the local crab places had Soft-shell crab sandwiches when in seasons. Essentially, it's a whole crab, battered and deep fried on a bun. The crab itself is roughly the size of a burger patty, so it works. It's pretty good, but I usually get crab cake because there's more meat. So this probably belongs in the awesome thread, but: went to the Philly Flower Show over the weekend. now, I know what you're thinking, but it's interesting to walk around for a bit and it's good points with the wife. Two years ago, there was a "Man Cave" with a bar, recliners, and TVs (unfortunately playing college hoops). My buddy and I were kinda disappointed that there wasn't one this year, until we got to the "Wine Tasting" area. Free with admission to the show, there were probably 30 tables with samples. The thing is, I didn't have a drop of wine. About half of the tables had booze. Sure, you're only getting a little at a time, but it doesn't take many littles to make enough. Four roses, Lavauglin (Spelling!), Gentleman Jack, local Gin, Rye Vodka, Absinthe, and whiskeys, the works. I'll have to get my booklet out and make some notes on stuff to try again.
  16. Murray needs to contract the Fucillo Ad guys to make one for him? "Have a bad contract? Need cap space? We will buy your terrible players from you! No reasonable trade refused!" Essentially, OtherTeam trades useless player (ideally with one-two years left) and a nice pick/prospect for our lower-level pick. Other team gets help, we hit the floor, and maybe one of those players likes the change of scenery and we get a steal.
  17. I think Tallinder signs again to a short-term contract as a bridge. Scott too.
  18. Now he needs to lock up John Scott, and we're set.
  19. I'm not sure about that, it's not like we *have* to trade Stafford next year at the deadline, he might be an attractive piece in the offseason (if he continues playing well) for a team looking to make a run next year. This year, a good team doesn't want to disrupt too much. At the draft/summer, a good team may want Drew to replace an outgoing UFA. Plus, in the last year of his deal it's not as much of a risk.
  20. There's already another dedicated and being discussed in the free-for-all thread! :)
  21. According to someone at WGR, "The Hobby" is worth a couple hours of radio on Saturday mornings. :) Back when the Rehaume thing was current, I remember a friend of mine gushing over it. She was a rock-star Field Hockey goalie and played on some Buffalo club ice hockey teams, but I don't know if she got very far with it. Guess not, she's in the Air Force now. But this is pretty cool from her pictures:
