  1. WGR has set aside the 11-noon slot Sunday after Shopp and Bulldog for Brian Kolziol to discuss 38's bender last night; there's hope that 38 will do a phone interview. For those thinking 11AM is early for a post-bender interview, remember 38 is on UK time so it'll be 4PM there. It's entirely possible that Pat after resigning/being fired/storming out texted his old boss "######, I just left my job at the Sabres." "Come back and work for me, bro, it'll save me the trouble of finding a new person."
  2. I had it on while reading a book. They're still cool and all, but the NHL has over-egged the pudding. It still ends up being a hockey game between two teams I don't care about, so I suppose it did it's job in that I probably wouldn't have had it on at all (I like hockey and all, but I rarely watch random games). That being said, this one was neat because you could watch the snow-trails of the puck as it moved around. Oh, and I dig the wire-camera as the main shot. I wouldn't mind seeing that more-overhead view it provides as a regular feature for indoor games.
  3. They're in a lot better shape than the Sabres.
  4. Why exactly would Jagr, a guy looking for that last kick or two at the Stanley Cup can, sign with the Sabres for any amount of money?
  5. I'm somewhat on the opposite side as you. I'm really surprised how little it bothers me that the team is terrible, and how not mad I am that Miller and Ott (and Vanek) are gone. I don't know if it's a change of perspective with being married and whatnot, or just all those years of watching the Bills has trained me for it. Years ago, I asked around here if people would rather have a competitive team year in, year out but never win it all, or a terrible team that led to a cup. I agreed more with the former at the time, but now I'm fine with the latter too.
  6. I'm hoping he's named captain ASAP!
  7. I wonder how this actually works with the NHLPA, CBA, cap, etc. Does he get a vote at the meetings now? Also, this happened in Toronto at some point, but I can't find the link. (EDIT: it was early this year, but I was actually thinking about an article about the guy in DC in 2008) Also: http://o.canada.com/...t-in-spotlight/
  8. Of course. Only Pegula regularly makes line-up calls over Nolan.
  9. Yeah, she sounded disappointed when I said no.
  10. Nothing seems fantastic since I decided to give up beer for awhile. Turning down my wife when she asks "Do you want to go to Victory?" yesterday (despite her not drinking) was one of the hardest things I've ever done. ;)
  11. No kidding. I *hate* the laziness of just posting a video. I can't watch a video at work, and you're right I could scan through the text in a minute or two. Maybe the NHL read the transcript of his post.
  12. At least if the amputations were arms you wouldn't have to draw the hands.
  13. Did you say the same thing about the last Godzilla movie? :) Recently found these, I can't stop watching:
  14. Word. My office used to used to be less than a mile from a Naval Air Station. Didn't get a lot of work done the week of the air show due to looking out the window. Same thing when I was working for a week near the Farnborough Air Show. There were two planes in particular that everyone just stopped what they were doing to watch. The then-brand new A380 (seeing one do controlled stalls at a couple thousand feet was something to behold), and the Su-35. The Su-35 just does things that are unnatural; flat-spins, flying backwards (for short periods), and falling vertically on its tail to name a few. I always felt bad for the plane that came after (Typhoons, maybe) since they seemed so pedestrian.
  15. It only has one role, and that's it. With budgets being what they are, there's a lot of pressure to move to multi-role aircraft. It makes some sense, I'm sure everyone would love to have a sports car for fun, an economy car for long trips, a pickup for hauling, and a big sedan for everything else, but most of us pick a car that's in the middle of all those things and live with the compromise.
  16. Ignore me, I get my power forwards that start with T that fade down the stretch mixed up.
  17. Once! (Thornton). So yeah, we should bet on two of the three to come back.
  18. Not zero, from the wikipedia page: "Four A-10s were shot down during the war, all by surface-to-air missiles. Another three battle-damaged A-10s and OA-10As returned to base but were written off, some sustaining additional damage in crashed landings.[" And another in Iraq later, maybe 5 shot down total? It's tough to tell how accurate the wiki information would be.
  19. Dude, don't mock the yappy dogs. http://www.examiner.com/article/packs-of-feral-chihuahuas-terrorize-arizona-town-animal-control-overwhelmed
  20. I read that as the Carolina guy said it.
  21. The Bruins with Rask/Thomas (until a couple years ago)? Vancouver with Luongo (despite his failures in big games)?
  22. I'm out! Woo! I can stop worrying.
  23. I think you'd get a majority of NHL fans, and maybe a few "outsiders". I mean, curling is pretty popular during the Olympics, but I've *never* seen a mention of the World Championships that happen every year (every other year?). The World Championships start in a month, what country is it hosted in this year? (without looking it up... I had to look it up already to see if there was a curling championship!)
  24. I don't think nearly as many people watch a yearly or less hockey tournament. If they did, I think you'd hear more about the world juniors. Just like bobsledding, luge, curling, it's something that people will watch as framed as part of the Olympics. Tell people there's a hockey tournament in September? Snore. Perhaps there's a 10-year-old asking, "Dad, can we go to a hockey game?". Agreed.
