I'm guessing this is all on cable, right? ANything on broadcast TV? EDIT: ah, there are a few games on weekend afternoons that are on ABC. Which my antenna doesn't pick up (and I'm not going to carve out time from my weekend to watch somewhere else). Ah well.

You're right that it's all a gamble, but gambling with what will be at least 10% of of your cap space (in the worst case, and if the cap is $100M by then) is a pretty big gamble.

He easily could. Or he could have a series of knee injuries (a la Drury) and call it quits at 34. That could happen here, but the Sabres could at least convince him (hopefully) to play it out on LITR (like Pronger) and not kill the teams cap. Another team may not give him the option or actively encourage him to retire to screw the Sabres. I'm in the keep him or buy out, but not trade camp.

I messed my thumb up over the winter (luckily it didn't make me any worse at volleyball since I rarely set), but I still don't have (and probably will never have) the same flexibility in it that I used to. You might want to get it looked at.

I think there's a certain lobby that would flip out "Obama is trying to take guns away" regardless of who was holding them. Semi-automatic (I think) covers almost every handgun since the Single-action Colt (mid-1800s) and a lot of shotguns. I don't see that as a problem, unless people are afraid of the word "automatic". Unless there's a subtlety in there I don't know about (and I'm not a gun person), semi-automatic is one trigger pull, one shot.

Don't tell Sabres Fan in NS that, his head will swell up. :) (he's ahead of the curve partially because Ehlers places for his local QMJHL team, and he's a giant homer! :) :))

Oops, got 2014 and 2015 mixed up, my bad. I guess it'd be the Sabres 2nd rounder (#31). In any case, I don't think I'd make the trade as a Sabre, but it would be temping for EDM.

NHL to Implement Coaches Challenge Replay System
MattPie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Aud Club
I don't think I agree with that one, the Captain is even less likely to see something or have access to a replay. How many times do we see players motion that a goal was scored with a kick or high stick when the replay shows it clearly wasn't. I doubt coaches want to blow their only time-out on that. -
Well, if I'm Edmonton, the conversation starts with one of Buffalo's defensemen. Ehrhoff? Probably although I doubt EDM takes him straight up. You'd probably have to do something like Ehrhoff and Myers/Pysyk for #3 and maybe a young forward prospect. I might make that trade. EDIT: need to add the Buffalo pick in the 20s too.

What's funny is Pandora's Boxx will get through the filter.

NHL to Implement Coaches Challenge Replay System
MattPie replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Aud Club
It'll be interesting to see what reviewable and what isn't. Reviews in the NFL make a lot of sense since the game is much more beholden to measurement and boundaries (were his feet in, did the ball cross this line, etc.). The NHL has far fewer of these situations, and most aren't "that" important. The only one that really matters is the goal line, and that's already covered. The only other one I could really think of is if an off-sides directly leads to a goal. -
I like to say I look like a million bucks: despite my wife and I being the same age (9 days apart), I look 10 years older and she looks 10 years younger; people must figure I'm rich.

BOLD: you could even say acceleration is the definition of a rapid change in direction. Fairly, even in high school when I was 175 lbs I wore a 44 long jacket (I'm more like a 46-48 now, although that's determined more by my middle than shoulders). My finger tips are around 3" from my knee caps.

If he speaks up, don't listen to the jerk on here that told me I was making a mistake. Being married (and impending parenthood) can be a little tough at times, but I wouldn't trade it for anything.

I'm OK with these prisoners being treated as prisoners of war. It's a very slippery slope though if you define "war" as this "conflict" and not actual military operations. If you go by that rule, the US has no right to ask for the POWs in Vietnam back since the government there may still consider that conflict as on-going. Once we are out of Afghanistan, we have to repatriate those prisoners back to their native countries. That's the way Geneva works. Maybe those governments release them, maybe they charge them with something. That's the way international law works (even it may suck for "us"). Otherwise, we're the rogue state that doesn't play by the rules. Recent conflicts the US has been relatively lucky in that not many of our soldiers have been taken prisoner. In some future conflict, if there were American POWs in a camp somewhere, we wouldn't be fine with "those men are prisoners until they die or America ceases to exist".

Based on the pictures and this fixie statement, you may be the oldest known hipster in existence. :) http://buffalorising.com/2014/05/the-stiletto-run-finds-a-new-home/

Show off, I can't do any (or at least couldn't last time I tried (and I can't imagine that has changed)). For awhile I was getting close (40% of body weight with one arm), but ended up hurting my left tricep and fell off the workout wagon. I like to "blame" my long arms for making the leverage less advantageous; I'm 6'2" (74") but my wingspan is something like 81". Go go Monkey Arms.

(OT) Confirmed: Bowe Bergdahl for five Taliban leaders at Gitmo

It's June and the home team hasn't played a game in 2 months? -
If the clunk varies with speed and is rhythmic, could be a CV joint or half-shaft gone bad.

We all knew you were a dude; "were" being more accurate than usual based on the video.

So today may be the day this goes over 10000! That's a lot of bitching! Complaint: meetings. Normally I don't mind meetings since I almost always sit at my desk, but now I have a bunch more work to do away from my desk in the lab *AND* a bunch of meetings to talk about that work so I'm suddenly at 4-5PM and haven't gotten my lab work done yet. At least I have work, I guess.

The explosion of domestic surveilance started with PRISM in 2007 (and ECHELON before that in the 80s), you can't exactly hang that on Obama. The only question is whether the program was ramped up in the last 6 years or the *reports* of it have been ramped up. The FISA court was a product of Post-9/11 paranoia too. "Enemy" probably a bad term on my part, I was trying to think of something succinct to express "people who you disagree with and want to prevent the country moving towards their viewpoint". Well, one of two things jump to mind: these people didn't want to say anything bad 5 years ago to smear his name (we know how some groups like to clam up when investigators come knocking), but for whatever reason aren't worried about it now. The second is the Army did hear this testimony and dismissed it as hearsay, opinion, or otherwise unreliable. Cable news isn't as picky as what it puts on. -

You know that only the far right considers Obama a left-wing extremist, right? No true left-wing extremist (or even basic left-wing) signs the Monsanto bill or allows the internet to become segregated by who can pay enough to the ISPs. Obama is far more moderate than Fox News gives him credit for. But it makes sense, if you're way over on either side anyone even remotely close to middle looks like the "enemy". -
A friend of mine who's very well-trained in firearms (son of a cop, serious practice, classes, etc.) will tell you that the *only* time you pull a gun is if you intend to fire. Waving it around escalates the situation tremendously which if you're not planning on firing probably won't go well for you.

The as far as the New Testament goes, that all seems pretty anti-sword. Or, if I want to be glib, people are allowed no more than two weapons (even I'd read it that those are for the class and not per person). The Old Testament stuff is far more history (and ancient "laws") than endorsement of owning weapons. Also, the disciples come across kind of like thugs in those, too. ;-)
