  1. I always took that as gallows humor, but I may be projecting my own feelings onto those posts. All last year, I'd be mildly happy if they won, and just kind of neutral if they lost. It's actually somewhat nice in an odd way, none of the post-loss hangover that I'd get when a Sabres loss mattered (most of the previous 5-6 years). If anything, GDTs weren't very cluttered last year because there were so few posters. :)
  2. I'm thinking your sarcasm meter is misaligned. Or at least that's how I read it, understated humour from our overseas friend. :)
  3. No one has suggested the team and coaching staff are actually tanking, as in throwing games. Ted Nolan walks in on day 1 and says, "We all know the situation we're in. We're not expected to be good. We're not expected to win. But we're going to work our ###### off and play hard. Let the wins and losses fall where they may.". Is this really so hard to understand? Bolded: No, it can't. The last time it happened was the special case of the Sedins. If I read right, Joe Thornton is the only player that was picked #1 that has been traded during the salary cap era, and no team has actually traded the pick itself. If you get the #1 overall, you make the pick.
  4. The poll could have done with a "somewhat" option, or something less than "pissed".
  5. Hurting his feelings it is then.
  6. So I haven't been following this very closely, what is Bohener talking about suing for then? Hurting his feelings?
  7. Are there Primo's Subs up in that way? They make a really fine sub; crusty bread, good cold cuts. I generally rate Primo's at the top of my list, so Primo's > Wegmans > usual Buffalo places[0] > Wawa > Sheetz >>>>> Subway. Also, despite having a sub two days ago I now want more subs. [0] I apparently haven't tried any of these new sub places in Buffalo, I'm referring to your average pizza-shop sub (Picasso, Pasquales in EA, etc.)
  8. It's been awhile since I took "Social Studies", but I could have sworn we were taught that you can't sue the president.
  9. At least you recognize that example is apples and oranges. :) Stop thinking about the specifics, and try to look at the big picture. Based on this ruling, a "Hindu" company could refuse to pay for treatment of various aliments that one could get for eating bad meat (because they're vegetarian). Deathly ill from eating some questionable hot dogs? Sorry for your luck, you shouldn't have been eating meat. Bio's example of Scientologists not paying for any mental health care is a great example. Better not eat bacon (the HORROR!) if you work for a Jewish company or Muslims, they're not going to cover your bills. They've opened the door to anyone's religious whims become exceptions to the law, and that's bull-######. My only hope is that the Supreme Court has ###### up in the past (see: Dred Scott) and eventually got their heads right. Hopefully drastic measures aren't required in this case.
  10. I didn't! http://forums.sabres...-gm-of-coyotes/
  11. Interesting that no one has tried to refute this. This is exactly the issue with this ruling, not the details which folks are arguing.
  12. Go check out Wanderlust King.
  13. Sorry folks, too good to pass up.
  14. Darren Dreger ‏@DarrenDreger 1h Former Sabres GM, Darcy Regier has been named Sr VP and Assistant GM of the Arizona Coyotes.
  15. http://sabres.nhl.co...s.htm?id=725371 Either this is minor enough to not warrant a thread or all the usual suspects have taken the day off from posting.
  16. They should but Rhinehardt in the AHL, he'll learn a lot more there. ;)
  17. It would make sense to start at 5 or so, but I don't know how you fill up the rest of the time. Starting at 5, if the #4 team is announced that means someone made a big jump forward and people get excited because they don't know who and won't until it's announced. Of course, if they put more spots in play in the future it'll be more exciting with this format.
  18. And another, Cary, named after the star of Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
  19. Not new thread worthy. :)
  20. As seen in countless Facebook memes: If Hobby Lobby were citing Sharia Law as the basis for this case, most of people defending the decision would be flipping the ###### out.
  21. This is exactly what he should have been for *this* team of young players. I wasn't nearly as down on him as others either, he made the best of what he had. I don't mind Cody Mc, but no one is going to think twice about doing something that requires answering the bell to him.
  22. Heh, DK's "Holiday in Cambodia" as the lead-in music.
  23. It's just a little Canada day fun, eh? (I heard he was released this morning, so it sounds like a "go home Claude, you're drunk" arrest)
  24. Nope, cap hit is cap hit. total money/years. What you might be thinking is cap recapture, which involves contracts that end after the player is 35 and are front loaded (more money early). In that case, if the player retires before the end of the contract, the team that gained the benefit (paid more than the cap hit) in penalized.
