I'd see it this way: Larsson in 22. Grigs is 20(?) and would appear to need some time in the AHL to develop. I'm not going to say Larsson wouldn't benefit from the AHL too, but his likely place seems to 3rd line center, so if you're going to bring up someone to play 3rd line center (behind Ennis and Reinhart), you might as well bring the guy up that fits better. If he plays well, you can slot him in there for awhile. If Grigs comes in at 3rd-line center and doesn't set the world on fire, you still don't really know what you have.

Jericho and Revolution are on Netflix, if we expand into TV. I'm apparently mildly broken then. I love my kid and all, but when I'm at work it's not distracting that she's not here. But apparently the lack of father bonding is fairly common for the first few months, so I have that going for me. http://pregnant.thebump.com/new-mom-new-dad/your-life/articles/secret-thoughts-of-a-new-dad.aspx

The more interesting question with all the new picture taking devices, how does that work with photos? I know there's some issues with this is various places: * 16-year-old guy takes picture of his wang * Sends it to his 16-year-old girlfriend * I think right now everyone is good with respects to the law * As soon as those two turn 18 and haven't deleted (or destroyed if we're talking pre-digital) the picture, is it child porn? * Is it child porn for the girl to have it regardless of age? How about the guy, is he producing CP? (Legal disclaimer: I have no pictures of anyone sans clothing that's under 18)

Thanks, I thought I read this up-thread somewhere. If that 50% PK stat is correct and Cassidy put everyone and anyone on PK, that explains a lot. Anyone know if there were set PP units or was that a Musketeer affair as well?

Last I looked, the Bills would have the bye in the first week of the playoffs too. I can't think of a better example of the perils of basing predictions on a small sample set.

That doesn't sound all that different that what I was doing, but mine was a bit more regimented. Based on Alton Brown's "Live and Let Diet" Episode (look it up, it's on Youtube in 2-parts). Went from 300-ish to 225 in 9 months, almost no exercise. I'm up around 235 now which is a function of me not being strict and having a social life (wife), and now eating whatever I can when the baby isn't making demands on my time. :) I'm really at a wall, I need to start exercising. As for counting calories, I didn't have much luck with it. I was using the "Lose It" app on my phone, which I'll admit is really slick. You can scan bar codes or search of stuff in their database. It's surprising how much was in there (Wegmans 7" Italian sub: check!). The problem I think I had was it's tough to really measure stuff out unless you're making everything yourself (which I was for awhile), and "oooh, I still have 200 calories left, time for a beer!". Sometimes saying, "I don't want to know" is better (for me at least).

That was last year, wasn't it?

Seemed like the entire thing was, "we're trying to find crap to say about Buffalo, but we're the one city in the country that can't really call names".

Is there a joke I'm not getting about Niagara Falls, or can the author not read a map? http://www.wingingitinmotown.com/2014/9/15/6125431/how-to-hate-the-atlantic-buffalo-sabres

I do get what you're saying, but you're wrong (haha, a little joke). It doesn't seem like the problem is that the correct and wrong information are both out there and someone chooses incorrectly, it's that the wrong information is the only story out there. At least those failures happened enough now that many people I know understand the stupid cycle and adopt a wait and see attitude to any breaking news. Pre-cable news, the publishing industry had a few hours to try to get the facts right (even if some journalists didn't try very hard to find those facts). There's an old saying that if you ask 10 witnesses what happened you'll get 10 stories. Same thing with reporting, the journalist could interview people and probably get a fairly solid set of facts. With Twitter and whatnot, you have 10 witnesses that all just post what they saw and opinion. I'm not trying to sound as "get off my lawn" as I'm coming off, but so be it.

Faster isn't always better, since it can generate a feedback loop. And that's discounting outright mistakes in the rush to be first.

Man, that's gimmicky. Can't they just name a new captain each month?

I have a recipe somewhere for a poblano-potato gratin in a crock pot. Essentially, you layer sliced potatos, cheddar cheese, and poblanos and dump some heavy cream and garlic on top while cooking. It's pretty good as long as you up the peppers and spices in the recipe. That entire cookbook has some good ideas for recipes, but they're all pretty bland when I make them. Either I'm doing something wrong or the author has very bland tastes.

Same here, I rarely eat them in any fashion. In this case, I think the fat from the bacon and (if I remember right) cream-cheese filling really mild-ed them out.

I think my neighbor once made bacon-wrapped habanenos in the smoker, and they were delicious. I've seen Alton Brown make a smoker out of a hot-plate and cardboard box, so it doesn't have to be an involved thing.

That's odd, further north (MD/VA/NC) they just hang out in the left lane in case there's a merge coming up. It does seem like the style is to only change lanes when required, never pre-emptively. If you end up in the left lane, you're going to stay there until your exit comes up. If you pass someone on the right, you end up staying on the right until you come upon someone slower. Unless you get into the mountains of western NC (although it might just be on a bike). Whenever I ride down there, they are the very courteous about getting the hell out of your way. If you come up on someone on a twisty road, they'll almost always pull over or slow down a ton so you can get around them. I don't know if they're just nice or there are PSAs on local TV (moto-tourist money is a big for them), but it works.

I'm with you Hank. I wouldn't bet that there are a significant number of potential hockey fans in the Greater TO that aren't already watching the leafs. The team would succeed, the building would be full, but it would 90% former Leafs fans so the league isn't adding new fans to the numbers. A team in the PNW or midwest would be bringing in new fans; I'd guess that there aren't that many "active" hockey fans there, but some would becone fans if there's a team in their own. (Active means buying gear and/or tickets to games)

Nice try, I don't believe it. -

How about a Colossus of Rhodes-style statue next to the 190? -
Prost! I haven't been to a game in the past year or two, but I usually make at least one of the Philly games, and I've been to games in Raleigh[0], DC[1], and MSG[2] in the past. Sad as it is to say, I don't think I've been to a game in Buffalo since it was the MMA in the late 90s. [0] Game 1 of the ECF (the original rape and pillage game, I think I still have one of the glasses. "It's in our Blood" hahahahaha) [1] There have been a few, but one was the game after Mike Grier was traded to Buffalo from DC [2] Rangers scored 4 goals on Miller in the first half of the first period. :(

So you're arguing that Democrats are interventionists (by getting involved in wars), but FDR should have been more interventionist in the early 30s (when the nation was skewing very non-interventionist)? I'm not sure where you're going at this point. I don't see a way that anyone was going to "stop" Hitler short of going to war. Obama seems to be skewing non-intervention (out of Iraq, trying to get out of Afghanistan, trying to stay out the ISIS stuff in Iraq until it was clear the Iraqis weren't going to save themselves) but he's being painted as being weak and wishy-washy on Foreign Policy. I'm so confused.

I guess this belongs here, I don't think it's worthy of a thread. Three sleeper teams, one of which near and dear to us: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/emily-cornelius/3-nhl-sleeper-teams-that-_b_5760566.html?ncid=txtlnkusaolp00000592

Wiki lists the Metro area at 1.1 million. If you take the entire area it's 2.3M (including Provo and Orem), which I guess it nothing to scoff at. That being said, Seattle metro area is 3.5M people (which includes Tacoma, which is as far from Seattle as Provo is to SLC). So the question is, why would SLC get a team before Seattle? I'll admit I don't know much about SLC. Are there any big businesses in the area that might reap some sponsorship dollars? I know Novell is based in Provo (and it seems like there's another high-tech company out there too).
