  1. So from the sounds of it, the "kids" don't care as much about Castro as being able to visit their ancestral home and whatnot. That's probably fair, friends of my parents were weirded out that I went to Cambodia for a couple days but it didn't really phase me since I wasn't alive during the Vietnam War.
  2. We already have a reasonably solid second line, we don't need another. :) Luke Adam!
  3. They should really make the backup GTs take a run at it. If you've gone 18 rounds, why not?
  4. Come on, d4rk, they're right on this one.
  5. A center that would likely be at least a 2nd line player to start. ideally someone that could push Girgensons down to the third line assuming Reinhart or this years pick is the #1 center. The Sabres are just now getting to the point (as others have pointed out) where center isn't a liability for the team, let's not mess that up.
  6. "Talent Analysis D’Amigo is a strong, powerful forward who can motor at both ends of the ice. He has a tireless work-ethic and leaves everything on the ice but has not yet produced at a level matching his energy and competitiveness. He’s a proven defensive player and provides offense in a supporting role. D'Amigo is a valuable player at the AHL level and has performed well in a lower line role when called-up. Whether he has the skill to stay in an NHL lineup on a permanent basis is not yet known. " http://www.hockeysfuture.com/prospects/jerry_damigo/ Youtube has one goal and him being the recipient of two headshots.
  7. He was so mad he demanded a trade.
  8. I think it's time for MattPie's Second Trade theorm: the more pieces you need to add to a trade idea to make it look balanced, the less likely it's going to happen. If Edmonton sees Hall (for example) as their 3rd best player (for example), they're not going to take 3-4 of Buffalo's 7-12th best players and some picks in trade. They're going to be looking at Buffalo's top few players and start from there with one or maybe two add-ons. In this case, they'd be looking at Risto, Zadorov, or maybe Grigs. EDIT: In short, ss the differential of the number of pieces in a trade proposal increases, the probability of that trade happening decreases.
  9. NOOO! Luke didn't use enough force, I guess.
  10. Hmm, you might be right' I thought I saw facial hair the at first glance but I think I'm wrong. I'm not sure if that's an indictment of my vision or the style of Buffalo Gals.
  11. If they're anything like motorcycle clubs (the friendly, non-SOA types), then yes. The few women there are generally "with" one of the guys. There's probably a handful of women that are genuinely interested that attend. They're revered as "most awesome chicks on the planet" by the sausages. (Is any of this sounding familiar?)
  12. Old guy with fro: "I'm Rip Freaking Taylor, and I couldn't get seats in the first row. At least the guy in front of me didn't show up."
  13. As much as it's nice to see the Sabres being tough, if a Boston player picked a fight after a clean hit we'd be asking why players have to defend themselves for playing hockey.
  14. Wait, JJ (unless I'm mixing you up), aren't you rooting for the Sabres to be the best they can be this year? Why would you take a few months off when you got what you wanted?
  15. I was thinking about this as an epic-level long-term group bet between the tanks and the jets (er, anti-tanks). Tanks bet wings and beer that the teams that get McDavid or Eichel win the cup before the Sabres do, the anti-tanks bet the Sabres win first. Meet up somewhere, and the losing side splits the bill. Bet is null if Sabres get one or the other.
  16. My bad, I was scanning the thread and must have missed that, didn't mean to pile on.
  17. I think it's pretty probable (as in 100%) that they get one of McDavid or Eichel if they finish last this year. Future, not so much with the upcoming changes. These two statements contradict each other. Using all the resources includes "ripping apart this roster" if only to trade away most of the UFAs. A well-run organization doesn't let assets walk away, and how many do you think would sign back on (and how many do we want back)?
  18. I haven't seen it in the book, but we have a few. Rocket, Niagara, surprise, blowout, and whole-grain mustard to start.
  19. Or a Ranger for that matter, due to the NYC-media influence. Pat's wikipedia picture is in a Rangers uni.
  20. I'm not sure I follow. You want to deal away a D to get a 5th center (of those you listed which didn't include Larsson or McCormick (yeah, I know)), but then you'd need another D to shore up the D? The only way this makes sense is if you just don't like Myers.
  21. Time Management for System Administrators. It's a page-turner. And the Mayo Clinic's guide to the first year of childhood.
  22. Someone decided that having an opinion that isn't the same as his own is sad. I'm still pro-tank and I don't think I've said anything that would constitute wavering at the benefits. I'm wavering a bit that the Sabres a winning too many games at the macro level, but I've enjoyed every win on a per game basis.
  23. My 4-month-old daughter was playing on the floor earlier while I had the replay on from last night's game. When the Sabres scored and the horn went off, she instantly stopped playing looked at the TV. Same thing at the end of the game. I'm doing something right.
  24. Man, first my daughter today starts turning towards the TV whenever the Sabres goal horn sounds and now I have a theorem named after me? It's a good day!
