Seems like I remember it being taught when I was in high school (in the early 90s), but I could be wrong. Apartheid was a "big deal" back then though, ending the same year I graduated.

Show your math.

While I don't really remember anything about actually working with Diff Eq, I do remember finding it a easier than Calc 2 and 3. There's hope for you!

I'm curious what happened in those 2 minutes in January 2013 that you were "Marchand's Rat"

How about a family setting? This is the same as your neighbors discussing your family issues and telling you what you should and should not do. You may agree with the neighbors but it's none of their business and they don't need to talk about it. (I'm not sure this is the best point I can make, but whatever) Essentially, yes, it'd be wonderful if I can do and say whatever I want with no backlash. But since the world isn't that way (and never was, and never will be) we all just have to put our big-boy (and girl) pants on and realize that sometimes you just have to let things go. Or just not say negative things or judge others. Be happy and content with your life. (Note that none of this is directed at anyone in particular, just in general)

Shhh, no one tell him about Diff Eq. :)

I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but taken at it's face I'll point out that people have never been (and will never be) able to say what they want with NO ramifications. 200 years ago saying what you like would certainly get you ejected from some social circles and possibly entered into a duel depending on what you said about or to whom. The best we get is that we get to say whatever we want with no *legal* ramifications. I say something distasteful as part of my free speech rights, others are perfectly to say that I'm wrong and an idiot as part of their free speech rights. It's as simple as that.

Are there some advanced stats on the length of GDTs and weekdays/weekends? I'd be *shocked* if Saturday night games are a bit light as some people surely have something else to be doing?

First section: that's easy to say, and you're "right" in the sense that it should be that way. It's a lot harder when both mom and dad (if the kid is so lucky) are working swing shift to make ends meet. Unless you'd rather the parent go onto assistance so they're at home all the time. Second section: it's totally impossible that kids of working age (15) drop out of school to work so the family has food right?

Well yeah, when you have two of the best goalies of all time, it covers a lot of warts. "Got any extra popcorn?"

Myers and Gorges look good together, Myers and Strachan look good together. Strachan and Weber look terrible together, Zadorov and Risto are welded together for all time. Not easy being an NHL coach. I don't think Gorges and Weber would work either. One of Weber or Strachan have to be the odd-man out and you bring in a more mobile D to try to make up 3 complementary pairs.

Pizza plant is moving down there? Awesome. Their pizza isn't the usual Buffalo fare, but their beer selection is top-notch.

They just didn't call it that, I guess. Shows have generally run from September/October until May, but most shows only shoot 20-26 episodes so there's a lot of missing weeks in there.

I saw something on the news the other night that at least one PD near me has body cameras in and are deploying them "soon". And even if we rule out "I'm going to get my buddy a non-indictment", the DA will have a subconscious bias for the defendant.

Some (many? most?) states it's illegal to record a police officer while performing their duty.

I'm going to keep MattPie. I might get crazy and change my avatar.

Probably not murder (premeditation), but manslaughter or at least negligent homicide would seem in play. It wouldn't seem much different than killing someone in a bar brawl due to "bad luck" (victim falls and hits head, etc., not the assailant using a bottle or ashtray).

I went to college with a girl that came from (what I assumed was) a crappy neighborhood in NYC. After toiling away for 4 years at UB and earning a EE degree, she went back home and got a call center job of some sort for what in NYC would be poverty wages. I don't know how to explain that since at the time (99, in the middle of the dotcom boom) she could have easily nabbed a solid engineering job. On a side note, she used to pilfer TP from the dorm bathrooms and *ship* it back home. She was reasonably good in classes though, so she wasn't a moron. When you, your family, and all your neighbors hate the police it'd be tough to become a "traitor". On a side note, those Bruins fans have lost their way. I'm going to go become one of them and try to steer them the right way. That'll work.

??? I think that's backwards, no?

We could mediocre it up this season and there's a much better chance the guy we pick at #9 is a flop. The odds of injury or trucking are probably the same.

Good god, I wish people would stop using Zetterburg and Datsyuk as examples of good drafting. Picking two guys from 20 years ago that Detroit happened to fall into is NOT relevant in today's draft and scouting situation. Goalies don't count as they're really hard to scout so Quick is out, and Toews was a #3 pick, are you willing to cut it that fine? The #1 in 2006 was D, so you're still talking about the 2nd forward (and center) picked that year. The only player you listed that supports your point is Kopitar, who was picked 11th. That's hardly "a good GM will find those players somehow" territory. As for the flip side: Tavares plays for the Islanders, that's a gigantic hindrance to winning a cup; there's moire dysfunction there than one player can fix. Stamkos is an OK example for your point. It just proves that a top-2 pick without a good plan isn't going to bring home a cup. I think Buffalo has a solid plan set up, and most the pieces are coming into place. I'd like to see a nice high pick this year to cap off the prospect pool; I can watch the remainder of the season to get it.[0] If you're really arguing we couldn't use a Stamkos, who is averaging more than 40 goals (adjusted for GP) per year in the league, I don't know what to say. [0] I've watched in some fashion every game this season, with the exception of the Toronto turd-fest; I only watched the 11-minute condensed version of that game. I even go back and watch the games I don't see live when they become available on Gamecenter.

I hope he's not about to pimp-slap someone, we'll never hear the end of it.
