FWIW, my wife and I have had discussions about various things (moving to the PNW, Buffalo, going to Peru for vacation) for several years now and that doesn't mean we have some evil-genius plan to make it all happen. "Hey Terry, we should buy the Bills some day when Ralph sells the team." "Yeah, that'd be awesome.". That's a discussion. "Wow, Ralph died yesterday, should we put a bid in on the team?" "Yeah, I think we should."

Game Discussion Thread GDT: Wild At Sabres 1-15-2015 MSG 7PM
MattPie replied to Brawndo's topic in The Aud Club
So from the front page, Myers will be playing in front of the net on the PP tonight. Well, can't make things any worse. Who is it here that keeps on saying we should try Myers on wing? Maybe this is a stepping stone for that! -
Mezaros and Benoit are definite boom-or-bust and cap moves. 1-yr, modest money. If they end up playing well they get traded as a rental (or if really good, maybe signed), if not, walk away at the end of the year. It's a great experiment if you're not counting on winning right away.

You're of course free to cheer when the other team scores, but that's really bad form. Most of the folks here had adopted root for the Sabres in the micro sense (while watching), but wanting them to lose in the macro sense (for the season). It's a great coping mechanism since win or loss, you can take positives out of it. "Wheee, they won a game!" or "well, that'll help the draft position." FWIW, I'm sometimes #2, never #1, and with a small child in the house, never drink enough to get to #3. You forgot #4: have the game on while cooking, reading, working, etc.. That's my jam. -
Screw that, Tim Kennedy!

Those are the only two I'd bet on. You might find another odd one further down (see: Tyler Myers) but it'd tough to pick who. Oh, and likely whomever EDM picks if it isn't one of those two.
-
"Come on, guys, we're playing the Sabres today. We *have* to win this one. I mean, Vanners and Pommie suck (no offence there, guys. hah, no offence, hah) Anyway, they were their best players and they don't even have them any more."

And he's calling out Marrone for lack of loyalty!

I've been mixed up all this time, I thought we got the Ryan brother with the unfortunate hair.

Captain, we're at crush depth, if we don't stop this flooding we're going to lose her!

That's enough burninating from you.

Why does Myers have to be a #1? All of us had hopes it'd turn out that way, but it doesn't look like it'll happen. But I think you'd have a hard time disputing that Myers is good enough to play 2/3/4 D any team in the NHL. He's very likely good enough to play 2/3/4 D on a contender in the NHL. Until a couple of the kids down on the farm can prove they'll displace him there's no reason to run him out of town.

He might not have called all the GMs. I guess it'd depend on how much the various GMs talk about such things. I can't really imagine GMs tipping each other on trades they're talking to other teams about.

So I've had various Belgian beers (imported and American Micros in the same style), is there "more" there (porters and stouts and hops, oh my) that we don't see here because the breweries are too small, or is it variations on the Belgian Golden/Lambic theme?
-
Way less than a country mile.
-
That's not saying much. :) I'd venture a guess that there are *far* more beers to try in the USA than Belgium and Germany. Combined. I'm not talking about the big brewers, there are simply a ton of small brewers making great beer over here. Better will be subjective, especially as the micros in the US tend to be far more hoppy than most European brews. Don't judge US beer by what you see over there!

The bar is Liberty Hound. I'm still not sure how far it is. :-p

How close is the bar next to the serviceman's park to the rink? It can't be too far.

Heh, I have a bag of haberno that felt the same way. So a friend of mine sent me a 1-week trial of Blue Apron for xmas, and I made the first dish the other day. The concept is BA is a weekly food service where they send you ingredients for 3+ dishes and 3+ days a week for 2+ people (there's varying plans). What you get is a cooler box with fresh produce and meat and various other ingredients (nuts, spices, grains, etc.) in the correct proportions for each of the recipes. You have to do some of the prep work (dice an apple, slice Brussels sprouts, etc.) and then you make the dish according to a well-written recipe. The dish was roasted Brussels sprout salad with freekah (a grain like farro or barley) and was simply put, awesome. I'm making Tom Yum Soup tonight and a roasted butter-nut squash casserole either tonight or tomorrow. So the food was awesome, but I'm not sure I could do it every week since I have trouble finding the time to cook. You can skip weeks, so I've skipped a bunch and I may do it once a month or so. If I were just learning to cook or had more time (and was a young professional with $$), I'd be all over this service. The recipes are well illustrated and having everything pre-measured is very easy. It's nothing that you can't do yourself (for a fair bit less money and more time), but it gets you to try new things too. I'm on the vegetarian plan so the dishes are wife-compatible but they allow you to select what meats you'd like (beef, pork, lamb, fish, shellfish, chicken). This is the recipe for the Tom Yum for tonight: http://www.blueapron.com/recipes/vegetarian-tom-yum-soup-with-napa-cabbage-tofu

Too late, too late. http://www.complex.com/music/2012/09/100-photos-of-rappers-in-sports-jerseys/1 Also, I can't believe I can't find the video of the Bills of 1990 rapping on youtube.

1: I'd guess Sabres gear is relatively expensive over there. 2: I don't watch many video-recordings of the popular music these days, but it seems like you see sports apparel fairly frequently (I'm thinking more basketball and baseball though).

No, I was TOTES serious. ;)
