  1. A friend of mine died at roughly the same age of heart attack, so it does happen. He wasn't an athlete but he wasn't in terrible shape either. Saddest part was he was a father for only a few days when it happened.
  2. Remind me, these are the number of points a team needs to pick up before the Sabres winning-out still won't pass them, right?
  3. I watched it at a bar while talkingwith a friend, but from what I saw Bogo is either the hard-hitting D that we've been dreaming of or really wanted to make a good first impression and went out of his way to hit everything. Probably a bit of both.
  4. Probably cookie tracking in some fashion. It wouldn't surprise me if the ad companies put together "bio visits SS" and "some people on SS are talking about razors", even if you hadn't looked at the thread yet. I bought a Harry's handle (bright orange) and 4 blades awhile back. It's a nice razor, I like it. Seems like there was a bit of a drop-off of sharpness after using a cartridge for a week, but it still shaves well enough for me so I go for a month or two with each cartridge. It helps that I have a full beard and I'm only shaping and man-scaping ;). I usually shave in the shower, so cleaning the blades out is easy and I haven't noticed Tank's issue cleaning. For cream, I've been using Kiss My Face (lime or something), it's OK and nice that it's natural, but it doesn't lubricate as well as any of the blue-goo or Aveno Oatmeal stuff I used previously.
  5. It was 0 on my phone this morning when I ran out to put the trash cans out (in a T-shirt). That's in Valley Township, but I'm a bit higher than that at my house, so maybe a degree or two cooler. My thermometer doesn't work well when it's this cold, despite having a Lithium AA battery in it.
  6. I'd say technically it's not "malware" as it kind of asked to be installed and apparently didn't hide itself. It's adware or s#1tware, but we're drawing pretty fine lines. Was it Rockettab?
  7. Enroth, he was drafted in the 2nd round where Miller was in the 5th.
  8. The horse that in speaking wants to make himself good. I'm not going to defend Hodgson, but a GM that traded away a player (CH) for a player (ZK) that isn't living up to what the Canucks hoped (5G, 9P, 29 games played this year, I can only assume that's not what they expected) isn't going to say (to the media at least), "Man, I boned that one. I wish I had CH back; ZK isn't getting it done."
  9. My wife is pretty awesome: we decided a couple years ago to celebrate Valentines Day on February 21st, so I don't have to spend $50 on roses or fight the crowds at restaurants.
  10. EH, Binghamton is like a small Buffalo (of 4 years ago, not the current kinda-rebuilding version). It's fine if you have friends that like to drink at neighborhood bars. And you're close to a lot of good hiking and camping. Outside of that, you're looking at driving to Syracuse (1 hour) Ithaca 45 minutes away (which I didn't take enough advantage of), or, NYC is 3 hours away. I liked it well enough, I was sad to get transferred out, but in hindsight I'd consider moving back but not before moving to Buffalo.
  11. This doesn't seem that hard. Points remaing: PR = (82 - Games Played) * 2 Max Possible Points: MPP = current points + PR <--- losing out Remaing Points to Clinch: RPTC = (leader MPP - #2 MPP) ... umm... Maybe this is a little harder. :) Maybe a simple "points behind" like "games behind" in baseball makes sense?
  12. Anywhere outside the Vancouver media/forums? I don't pay attention to league-wide news (or frankly, Buffalo news other than what I read here) so I'm really asking. I've just seen hometown news being more hopeful than objective (Hi, Toronto!).
  13. Dude, Rudy has totally shown he could be a 4th line grinder. :) It'll be interesting to see in three years, but realistically fans of good players always want to believe they'll choose home-town over other considerations. Buffalonians were all over P. Kane until he signed that giant deal last summer (?) and were frothing at the mouth when it turned out Callahan was going to be traded from the Rangers last year. It could happen, but I think agents are always in a player's ear saying "big contract" or "put yourself in the best place for the next big contract". Perhaps Vancouver will be the right fit or Kane has a stronger than what seems normal drive to play there, but I wouldn't count on it, especially if Buffalo is turning/turned around by then.
  14. I think, from an evolutionary standpoint, we've evolved to trust people that look like us. On a more recent note, there's a study that suggests there's a pattern in the genetic code for the people we end up friends with and partnered with. http://www.scienceworldreport.com/articles/16028/20140715/dna-finds-similarities-between-friends-study.htm None of that excuses racism, though, that's just upbringing or a conscious choice. If not overt, I'd guess it's more subtle. Along the lines of not as many people would have issues with the "stacks of cash" picture if it were a white guy.
  15. I agree. I could see buffalo, the crossed swords (but not both, that's a little too on the nose), or chicken wings. If not a Buffalo-themed, I love houndstooth.
  16. Atari 800xl REPRESENT! (although we had a 400 before that; I still have the 800xl (and maybe the 400) in my basement) I burnt out on games in my early 20s, after turning my desire to play Doom multiplayer (and building a LAN to do it (kids: this was before you could buy switches at a reasonable cost)) into a career in IT. Also, I think beer had something to do with it.
  17. A Red Wing with his number retired in Buffalo. It's so confusing, I don't know how to process these feelings! :)
  18. I was trying to remember who was all-in on Enroth...
  19. Twitter reporting that Steve Heinze is furious that his number isn't retired league-wide.
  20. And, it's a go for setting expectations higher than reasonable. Apparently the radio folks were talking about 40 goals today. (not picking on you, dudacek, just trying to head this off at the pass) I'll put this in bold. And caps: PATRICK Kane didn't score 30 last year. We should be hoping that he'll be top-10 in goals for LW (#9 last year scored 30 exactly), but if he doesn't net 30 he's not a bust. K? #28-30 at LW scored 19 goals each. 40 goals puts him ahead of everyone not named Ovechkin. Let's not go crazy when he puts up 25 on a mediocre team.
  21. I can understand that. I've heard fashion is behind in the great white North, but I had no idea 1963 would look modern to you guys up there. :)
  22. I saw it long ago, I think even before there was youtube. :)
  23. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q9z6AH-eIB0
  24. One of these things, is not like the other one...
  25. I think people are worried about his on-ice slackitude. All will be well if he just didn't like the Jets for some reason. The big problem starts if he finds something to not like about the Sabres and pulls the same . If he does, the Sabres have a two-time slacker and will get significantly less for a trade since GMs will be starting to wise up to his discontent. Good idea, I'll start rooting for the Flyers. Wait...
