I'll play devil's (not those Devils) advocate, there's a different between starting the year with a bad team and selling off at the deadline. I don't disagree with the Sabres path, but I can see people thinking there's a difference between "we're going to be bad but we're not going to mortgage the future to try to get to mediocre" and "well, turns out we're bad let's give up for the season". Not a ton of difference, but a difference.

I assume this is old hat for those in the game industry, but I get a little Roman-style* satisfaction reading about game testers' crappy work stories. http://trenchescomic.com/tales/post/9810 * "Hey, my life isn't what I thought it might be, but I'm not getting eaten by lions down there.

I think it needs to be youtube.com.

I haven't really looked hard at the specs, does the MotoX support USB OTG (On the go)? My Nexus 7 (tablet) does so all I have to buy was a cheap cable and I can plug USB sticks, SD card readers, or even a USB hard drive (with external power). It's not elegant, but on the rare occasion it works. That being said, I haven't run a portable device out of space since my 30GB iPod, I just don't carry all my music around with me like I used to, and I'm more of a book-reader for planes.

No way, the kid can't jump into an NHL game and produce on the first shift? trade him for a conditional seventh. :) To me, the way to handle this as a coach is Grigs (and Hodgson, for that matter) start the game on the second line, and stay there until the end of the first period. If they're absolutely terrible, move them down. If they're OK, they buy another period. They do NOT get sent to the fourth line after the first bad shift.

Same here. Early in the season I was more apt to "join in progress" if it was in the 1st or second period, but these days I start from the beginning. I almost never sit and watch the game only though, although that's as much a product of being busy at home as the team. I even go through after the GameCenter blackout expires and put the games on I couldn't see live.

That's what I'm confused about. Leaving the team to Nolan is fine and all, but if you have a coin-flip in goal and playing one keeps his rights, it seems like you should play him. I realize his value isn't that high, but (say) a 6th round pick in trade for Hackett in the off-season is still a pick.

I wonder if it's "well, now that we've shipped half the team team out, Nolan has to give Hodgson a shot, right?" "He's still on the fourth line? WTF." I haven't watched, but I can't believe Mitchell and Flynn are playing on the 2/3 lines on MTL.

Channel 2 did in the 80s. http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WGRZ-TV (fun fact: you can change the URL to WIVB and WKBW for a nice stroll down memory lane) EDIT: Channel 49 did too: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WNYO-TV

Good info, although you can't really equate the D since there's only 3 pairs of them to split time vs. 4 forward lines. He's also 23rd in shifts per game. Interestingly, Deslauriers is right there with him. Could Nick's TOI be off from the few games he's played 3rd-pair D?

I love the numbers, but I bet there are rules that say the numbers have to be solid and contrasting. Maybe fill in the spaces with white?

Ah, I missed that. The Moto X is a "normal" sized phone, around 5" I think. I didn't think of Sprint, I'm on Verizon so the Z30 is an (expensive) option for me.

I think I coined "Septic Six" to mirror the "Original Six". But, I'm not the one pulling in the data and doing the work, so if it's easier to drop to fewer, then don't let a name get in the way. FUBAR FIVE, F'N FOUR, THROWING GAMES THREE, TWO HAPPY TWO LOSE, or ONEROUS ONE, it's all good.

I'd suggest the Moto X as a budget option, but it stays pretty close to the Android base GUI, like the Nexus which you've said you don't prefer. I'm the other way, I want as little manufacturer BS on my phone as possible. Just give me straight Android. One of these days I have to get around to upgrading our phones, we're both using Samsung Galaxy Nexuses (Nexii?) which, for a 3+ year old phone is holding up better than expected but is on the border of not being useful. Adding: I'm toying with the idea of a Blackberry Z30. Anyone have a newer Blackberry, as in something with a full touchscreen?

Ennis, maybe, but mostly because he's playing Nolan's game and getting time.

But not the B-52. On a Thursday, the Air Force rejected Boeing's proposed 4-engine prop bomber and the Colonel asked if they had something in a jet-engined model. Four guys drew up the B-52 overnight in a hotel room and presented it Friday. The Colonel wanted a few changes, and by Friday evening the four guys plus another two that happened to be in town had the B-52 designed. Over the weekend they built a model, ran the figures, and bound a 30+ page presentation. And that's the true story of how the longest-lived military aircraft came to be, The current maintenance contract is up in 2044, which puts it a stones throw from being in service for 100 years.

Has anyone heard of people growing fresh peppercorns at home? I think the conditions are difficult, but I had some in a dish in Thailand and they were incredible. In my not-that-hot tasebuds, they walloped you when you bit into them, but didn't retain heat very long, so you could keep doing it over and over without burning out.
