It's 58 here today (that's in our English measurements). I see it's 80 and 60% humidity in Miami, we're just getting to the season where Florida can keep that ###### for themselves.

Hi, I haven't read all the posts in this thread, but it'll be awesome when the Sabres have McDavid. They're going to finish last and it'll be a sure thing unless the NHL screws Buffalo again! That's Kenny Loggins, not Rogers you moron.

It's like you've never seen how stupid people can be about trivial things. :) I saw plenty of anger on my FB feed last night, including an awesome brother comment-fight about how "Redskin is a totally not-deragatory term" "Um, yeah it is" "Well, let's call them the White Faces then, I won't get offended" "Yeah, it's easy to not get offended when our race has been in charge for the last 500 years".

I don't know your situation so I'm not here to judge. I don't run the email system at my work, but I hear the same things from some of the users here despite having a fairly robust email system. I find that 90% of the time it's just that those users don't know how to use their email or at best, how to work around the quirks. Oh, but this is so much more convenient. Too bad, work isn't there for you to be convenient. I think you mentioned a non-profit, so that's a different game than where I am, my condolences. The primary problem with using unsanctioned services for things like email isn't even the accountability in most cases (although in Clinton's case, it is a big deal). I'm sure the folks that use personal email would never, ever, take files they receive on that email and work on them via their official laptops, no, never. And I'm sure that even if they had to in a pinch, they'd be extra careful to scan and check those files to make sure THEY'RE NOT LETTING SOMETHING INTO THE NETWORK THAT'S GOING TO P0WN IT. Yes, I'm dead certain of they'll do all that diligence. Or even worse, another Bush. I kid, I kid. But in all seriousness, if one party puts up someone that isn't a Bush or Clinton, consider me intrigued.

Toronto's players don't even have the hope that "Hey, maybe I'll catch on with McEichel and end up on his wing next year".

SO anyone got a good exercise to strengthen ankles? Several year ago I bought skates (and returned them) since I couldn't walk around the house without my ankles flopping around. I don't recall what they were (it might even be *way* and I mean *way* upthread), but I'm guessing they weren't the most supportive boots. I'd like something I can work on before I try skating again.

I rooted my Nexus 7 so it could write to USB storage when it was running 4.4. It recently updated to 5.0 (and I guess I should keep an eye out for 5.1), and I think it may have updated within 4.4.x a couple times. Since the 5 update for sure, though, it's no longer rooted (and I haven't bothered to re-root it since the need for USB writing was situational). I'm uneasy about rooting for two reasons (one with absolutely no basis). The first is you're essentially giving a random person the internet the ability to "bug" you phone and since almost all the rooting tools run from a computer, you computer too. It's been drilled into my head to not run software from sources on the internet unless you trust them. The other if you were to pick up a rogue app without a rooted phone, they're sandboxed with only the permissions you give the app to read other stuff on the phone. With a rooted device, there's much more chance that something could infect the lower levels of the phone software that uninstalling the app won't fix.

Jack Eichel: 'Buffalo, I'm coming for ya' in a drunken stupor
MattPie replied to Swedesessed's topic in The Aud Club
I am shocked by this new information that I've never seen before. :) -
I drank way more at my pi-day party to consider drinking tomorrow, even if I had something Irish around. I'll still be eating left-over home-made corned beef though.

I think it's a clumsy way of saying the team should improve but probably won't make the playoffs, which seems like a pretty realistic stance. That's it.

I'll play devil's (not those Devils) advocate, there's a different between starting the year with a bad team and selling off at the deadline. I don't disagree with the Sabres path, but I can see people thinking there's a difference between "we're going to be bad but we're not going to mortgage the future to try to get to mediocre" and "well, turns out we're bad let's give up for the season". Not a ton of difference, but a difference.

I assume this is old hat for those in the game industry, but I get a little Roman-style* satisfaction reading about game testers' crappy work stories. http://trenchescomic.com/tales/post/9810 * "Hey, my life isn't what I thought it might be, but I'm not getting eaten by lions down there.

I think it needs to be youtube.com.

I haven't really looked hard at the specs, does the MotoX support USB OTG (On the go)? My Nexus 7 (tablet) does so all I have to buy was a cheap cable and I can plug USB sticks, SD card readers, or even a USB hard drive (with external power). It's not elegant, but on the rare occasion it works. That being said, I haven't run a portable device out of space since my 30GB iPod, I just don't carry all my music around with me like I used to, and I'm more of a book-reader for planes.

No way, the kid can't jump into an NHL game and produce on the first shift? trade him for a conditional seventh. :) To me, the way to handle this as a coach is Grigs (and Hodgson, for that matter) start the game on the second line, and stay there until the end of the first period. If they're absolutely terrible, move them down. If they're OK, they buy another period. They do NOT get sent to the fourth line after the first bad shift.

Same here. Early in the season I was more apt to "join in progress" if it was in the 1st or second period, but these days I start from the beginning. I almost never sit and watch the game only though, although that's as much a product of being busy at home as the team. I even go through after the GameCenter blackout expires and put the games on I couldn't see live.

That's what I'm confused about. Leaving the team to Nolan is fine and all, but if you have a coin-flip in goal and playing one keeps his rights, it seems like you should play him. I realize his value isn't that high, but (say) a 6th round pick in trade for Hackett in the off-season is still a pick.

I wonder if it's "well, now that we've shipped half the team team out, Nolan has to give Hodgson a shot, right?" "He's still on the fourth line? WTF." I haven't watched, but I can't believe Mitchell and Flynn are playing on the 2/3 lines on MTL.

Channel 2 did in the 80s. http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WGRZ-TV (fun fact: you can change the URL to WIVB and WKBW for a nice stroll down memory lane) EDIT: Channel 49 did too: http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WNYO-TV
