I can understand not wanting one. In my experience, buyer pays the inspector $N (N ~= 500), they look at the house, and find at least around $N of things to "fix" and the seller either fixes them or eats it. For the buyer, it's a little work to possibly get some money off the house plus piece of mind. For the seller, it's an immediate deduction from the asking price or an additional cost to them. I still wouldn't buy without one even if it meant missing out on a house.

I think everything that's normally done for a flip is below the threshold for a building permit, and selling as-is doesn't mean you have to meet code or anything. It's scummy, but like selling a house that's badly in need of repair the buyer can buy anything they want, ill-advised or not. I'd probably not buy without an inspection but I understand what the market is like so that's easier said than done.

I mean, looking at that draft, there are (by my rough count) 8 players taken before Lemieux that have played fewer games, and 16 players taken after FOR THE ENTIRE DRAFT that have played more games. VO is not one of those players, but he's only a couple dozen games behind. After the 1st round, it's more likely any player will not play a significant amount in the NHL than will. Even 1st round picks 20-30 that year are 50% to be in the league now. https://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/draft/nhl2014e.html

There was just some confusion, Tage's Hindquarters are at the upper body level for the rest of the team.

Eichel thrown under the bus by Vegas HC Bruce Cassidy

Not impossible, looks like LA, EDM, and VGK are essentially tied for the last two division spots, and there 2 teams 5 points behind for the wild card spots. So it'd take LA and EDM to play a game or two better than VGK to put them into the Wildcard, and COL and CAL a good run (or a bad run by VGK) to be out of the wildcard at the end of the season. -
Interesting, I'd make a call and see too. It seems like that might be one too many G in the kitchen next year, with UPL, Comrie, Levi (?), but until you find one that's a legit NHL guy I think you keep looking. Being 27, I assume it'd have to be Comrie and Demko on the Sabres, with Levi and UPL in Rochester given the waiver situation.

There's always a GM that thinks a player is just in a bad spot and it'll totally be different on their team. In fairness, the dysfunctional 2010s Sabres were probably the best chance of that being true, but so far it appears that Jack is Jack. Change of scenery is a thing (Jost), but not always (Risto). -
Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?
MattPie replied to inkman's topic in The Aud Club
IIRC, at the all-star break in 2017 the Sabres were in 8th place, and then lost a bunch of the next games to quickly put them out of contention. That was the first year of the "Lost Point Countdown". -
There are lots of things I miss about Philly. I moved mostly because I wasn't tied to anywhere in the US for work, and living in one of the most expensive counties in the country (PA Chester Co) and the post-industrial pollution there wasn't attractive. There are lots of places there that 150 years ago was a tannery or steel mill or something and they go build houses. It's not Love Canal, but ick.

Pretty much. The Sabres have three games in hand on the the Caps and are only 2 points behind. Both the Sabres and Pens *should* be ahead of the Caps at game #52. The next two teams behind the Sabres are already at game 52 as well. If the Sabres keep on their season pace they're be in decent shape. But really, they'll need to gain a win or three over that pace to be really be "safe". -
When I lived in the Philly area, the fans came up, and I quote my friend, "Man, you throw batteries at Santa *once* and you can't live it down." If you want reasons to root for the Eagles, those fans hate the Giants, Redskins Commanders, and Cowboys as much as Bills fans.

Was that were Frazer was interviewing? I was hoping he'd get the HC job so he wouldn't be in Buffalo.

GDT - Sabres @ Jets - January 26, 2023 - 8:00 PM (EST) - MSG and TSN3
MattPie replied to Thorner's topic in The Aud Club
Don't know much about Winnipeg, other than looking at its metro area it's around the same population as Monroe County NY (Rochester proper), so I could see it being kinda boring and generic or kinda cool depending on the culture. Erie county is around 1M, Winnipeg is around 800k. -
I mean it makes sense. Presumably most teams have coaches for each major role on the team. I assume there are approximately 23 position coaches on an average team. 🙂 Not unlike the NHL, where you have a D guy, an F guy, and a G guy along with the head coach.
-
This is probably close to what I'd look for too in SJ's shoes. The Sabres do seem to have a lot of scoring forwards in the pipeline, so the trade *almost* makes sense if not for the money involved. The Sabres will eventually need to start flipping a couple shooters for D and bigger forwards to balance things a little.
-
Well, seems very unlikely either of the coordinators are going. That's unfortunate IMHO, they don't seem to have that next level to succeed in the playoffs.
-
For that kind of money, he has to be an immediate core player, and the Sabres likely need to ship out one of the budding core players in return. There's no way the Sabres are going to be able to pay Dahlin, Power, Skinner, Cozens, and Tage plus Meier and have enough left for depth. (given they all continue playing and improving).
-
The interesting part about bringing in cap dumps is the Sabres would have to send down current players (who we're mostly pretty happy with right now) to make room on the roster. This would be easier if there were a couple injured players and AHL call-ups playing.
-
To be fair, Tage is also worth a fraction of his upcoming deal. That fraction is like 7/4, but still a fraction. 🙂
-
Not poking at the original poster, but sometimes I wonder if people think there are teams out there with 9 20+ goal forwards and a 4th line where they only have 10-15 each.

I take Playoff Run to mean actually playing in the playoffs.

Are the Sabres out of the running for the playoffs?

Hmm. TB is at 0.663, so 109 points on that pace for the season. Sabres need 56 points in 35 games, so 26-5-4. TGS would be more like 28-4-3. They better get on it. 🙂 -

The nice thing about the slump was the other teams around the Sabres weren't playing lights out either. If they all continued playing 7-2-1 hockey like before, the Sabres would be nearly sunk. The Islanders falling down a sandbank helps a lot (1-6-3!) and everyone else is also in the 5-4-1 neighborhood. If this is the case, it's a lot easier than the 98-points an NHL0.600 required. The Sabres clearly *can* make the playoffs at this point. But they're going to have to be better, I believe bubble teams traditionally pick up steam after the All-star break / Trade deadline as the games are perceived to mean more. -
Sounds like I'll be maintaining my participation at the "keep an eye on this thread, watch the 10-minute highlights" level. No way I'm gonna start watching full games.

My guess is there are "Anderson" games probably every 6-7 games that are kinda planned out for the rest of the season barring a trade. He might request one if the Sabres chances for the post-season get more tenuous, I suppose, I'm not sure the Sabres would just up and trade him without discussion. UPL has taken the #1 spot with his play for now. I have to think the Sabres will treat the non-Anderson games with a normal rotation between UPL and Comrie. So out of every 10 games, Anderson gets 1-2, Comrie gets 1-2, and UPL gets 7 or so. If Comrie is solid or UPL falters, I'd guess Comrie gets more starts.
