I don't know how you get to that point as a band.

That's odd, I used the phrase a week or so in an email. It's not something I use often. Or more than a handful of times in my career.

Hmmmm..... Also: Ask those same Kings fans if they're still upset their team finished 3rd-to last in 2006-7.

What if Eichel Decides to Return to BU Next Year?
MattPie replied to Dave Dryden's topic in The Aud Club
Exactly. Let's say the insurance company offers $20M career-ending injury insurance for $1M (I'd think that at least 20 players would take that, so even if one guy is injured the insurance company is making a profit). So Eichel calls them up and says: yes, I'd like some of that insurance but I can't pay for it right now. The insurance company can easily say, "sure, that $1M will be charged 5% APR until you pay off the balance". Now, there's only really three ways it van go. Jack gets hurt, and the insurance company pays out. Maybe they just dock the $1M off the top and they go on their merry way. He doesn't get hurt, and the insurance company gets $1M+interest for doing nothing (other than assume the risk) when Jack can pay up. The primary risk is if Eichel flames out and can't pay. But that's not even "that" bad, since the insurance company hasn't actually paid anything out. They'd just have to sue him or work out a payment plan based on his normal-job salary. -
The BSL has extended a friend request to X to join the grazoristas, but he hasn't responded yet.

Glad I could brighten you day.

That may well be true, even if he was the leading scorer last year. I just don't think you can make that decision based on seeing how he plays with Matt Ellis on the 4th line. If I remember right, if CH gets bought out this year, the cap hit is 1/3 of the contract, whereas next year it's 2/3. It would seem like an easier decision if CH had sank (or swam) on the 2nd line for the last two months.

Complaint: that's way too early.

I'm not sure you've heard of it either. I'm not trying to antogonize you, but civilized dialogue generally doesn't allow calling people that don't agree with you children or sheep. As for the point, my eye-opening moment on Nolan was indeed the trade deadline; maybe that's why the "tide turned". After it, I figured we'd see players (I'm thinking of Hodgson specifically) given another shot on the upper lines where they "should" be playing now that a few of the vets had been shipped out. Instead, Nolan just found new AHL vets to put on those lines. I'm not trying to defend Le Coney Hotdog, but every once in awhile it seems like you need to put him in a position to succeed to see if he's gotten it yet. The fear is Nolan would nail McEichel to the 4th line if he has a few bad shifts. Maybe you do that a few times to send a message, but at some point you have to put the player in the right place and let them either work through it or sink. EDIT: Oh, and the Hackett eligibility situation: maybe Murray had said don't worry about it or maybe he wanted to see more of Lindback, but it seems foolish to keep playing Lindback and lose out on Hackett's rights for no particular reason. If nothing else, maybe you get a (very) late pick for Hackett or add him to a trade that's bringing a goaltender back.

Ennis goal = #3 in top 10 goals of the year
MattPie replied to SarasotaSabre's topic in The Aud Club
Agreed. it's an extraordinary goal, but maybe not for good reasons. -
Please, The Penguins in the 80s (and that's just NHL). I was a bit young, but from the sounds of it, everyone knew what was going on from the players through management and the public. These last two seasons are what they are, but to pretend that this was extraordinary is navel-gazing.

You're on list now too. Signed, grazoristas speaking for the BSL.

We should go ta the bar and get a couple two tree beers, heyna? Your car or mayan?

Or: Buffalo is a largest small town in America. I see it on Facebook a fair bit, people I know that shouldn't know each other are mutual friends and whatnot.

Variations are found in a bunch of dialects. Eh ("A"), Eh (as in EHLERS!), "huh", in Northeast PA they use "Heyna" (hey now). It's function is to turn a statement into a question. In Japanese, apparently it's common to end statements in "desu ne" (day-sun-a), which means "Is in not". I think the speaker uses it to soften a statement and not offend the listener.

"Is GMTM a Weasel?"

Now I get it: Chicago to Nashville is 470-ish miles, or 7'15" by car. For comparison, Buffalo to Raleigh is 600+ miles and 10 hours.

So what if the Sabres get the first two picks in 2015....
MattPie replied to dejeanneret's topic in The Aud Club
So for the flip side, are you assuming that we have Eichel? While that price doesn't seem like enough, O'Reilly only has one year left on his contract so maybe that's about right. I'm not sure it's "legal" to have an agreement with a player/agent ahead of time (although I'm sure it happens). The problem I worry about is, based on past history, ROR is going to want some exorbitant amount of money to re-sign, I'd guess $8M. he's good, but is he *that* good? -
I think it could: making the playoffs every 2-3 years and getting bounced in the first round, and just missing the playoffs the other years.
-
I was going to look it up and post that. Damn, that LGR beats us to the punch again. The Sabres have a lot of LW (and centers that would gravitate to LW if moved over). I'm not saying the Lucic wouldn't beat out several of them, but it may be more important to shore up RW if we're giving up assets.

Come on, really?

Da, he not as nice.
