  1. 1: Until there's independent confirmation it could very well be measurement error or a flaw in the "expected" results. 2: You should always be skeptical until the results are verified. :) The media is trying to drive clicks and eyes, so they're not going to wait months to publish "that thing we heard about but didn't publish actually works" or "poorly set up experiement that suggested FTL travel turned out to be wrong" because some other media will have already published it.
  2. Evan-der Kane? A quick google turns up that Rodrigues (Son of Rodrigo) is Portuguese and Rodriguez is Spanish.
  3. Fixed! :) It's really the same thing two sets of 1-8 seeds is the same as one set of 1-16. Teams 1-2 in 1-16 would be 1 and 1 in the two sets; likewise, teams 15-16 would be the two 8s. This assumes the conferences are roughly equivalent which on average I'd say is true.
  4. Re: SOA: Don't worry, you're still not into motorcycles. :) :) I don't want to badmouth it since I haven't watched much of it, but it's soap opera with motorcycle overlay. And I don't mean soap opera as a bad thing either, since that's what a lot of drama tv ends up being. Any Star Trek series: Space opera with wrinkly foreheads. Farscape (which is my current time-filler): Soap Opera with Space-puppets! Continuum: Soap Opera with.. I dunno, that plot is such a mess. Someone mentioned Turn: good show (soap opera with muskets), season one just popped up on Netflix streaming. Also, Borgia (not "The Borgias") is really good series. What’s amazing to me is they found actors that actually resemble the historical figures.
  5. You got it good, at least computers are a lot easier to move now. When we wanted to do a group coding project, I had to drag a 21" Sun monitor over to someone's house. Laptops existed but were far too limited and expensive for students.
  6. Awesome, I'm tied for almost-last.
  7. When I was in school, a friend of mine managed to petition to have some classes removed from his transcript for GPA purposes. He was more separated from his "party" days (1983 to 1996, if I remember right). I assume you already have, but make sure to talk to the department office to make the case that who you were in 2008 isn't who you aren't now.
  8. I'm assuming an ebook reader on the ipad doesn't count?
  9. I have both CompSci and EE. I'm not sure which I'd pick if I only had one. I think EE was a fair bit harder than CompSci but has probably opened doors. I don't think most employers would tell you "no, you can't have a programming job with an EE", although you should probably make sure to do some CS stuff on your own time to have you bases covered. That being said, I got both in 5 years at UB (three classes over summers) and there's overlap. It's a good thing to put on the resume if you can manage it.
  10. Yep. http://www.splendidtable.org/recipes/buttermints
  11. There's 33% "O" in that name, way too much. :)
  12. Was it a basket of those buttermint things? (note: I just learned the name buttermint; before this they were "those mints at grandma's" or "the mints we get at Ponderosa")
  13. That's never a bad idea. :)
  14. You could hit on chz again... :)
  15. This a new one: Finish the Job. This is an old one: This. How could I forget: $PLAYERNAME!
  16. Well, rotate between NY, LA, and Chicago.... hmmmm.....
  17. Last I saw the conversation was drifting towards libel and examples of it.
  18. I wish mine were out, I hate fluorescent lights.
  19. I'm not arguing loudness in the two buildings, but it's not like there's a NIST or ISO standard for "Hockey Microphone Placement and Gain Levels for TV Broadcasts". There are so many factors in how loud the crowd noise, from building materials to "we have an HoF announcer we don't want to cover up" that the TV can't be taken without a hefty portion of salt.
  20. I work for the same company, but it's very large and I don't know Neuvsie. General server-side network stuff (not much desktop support these days). Firewalls, network security and management, Linux servers, DNS, Storage, VMs, etc. Need to work on cloud crap more, but from what I've seen it's the same as the VM stuff I've been doing with a webby interface.
  21. I looked at the boxscore, and didn't see his name as a sakter. Clearly he must be injured.
  22. Eliminate one idea: Matt Pie ‏@mattpi 2h2 hours ago @martybiron43 Thanks Marty! Hey, Buffalo's thin on G next year, you coming back? 0 retweets 0 favorites Martin Biron ‏@martybiron43 2h2 hours ago @mattpi "Biron" doesn't translate to crazy!!
  23. Matt Pie ‏@mattpi 17h17 hours ago @martybiron43 Does "Biron" really translate to "two circles" which is why you rocked the 00 early on? http://www.hockeygoalies.org/faq/numbers.html … 0 retweets 0 favorites Martin Biron ‏@martybiron43 15h15 hours ago @mattpi "bi-round" would be dual circles. I had the number given to me when I was 16 and somebody came up with this theory years later. 11:32 PM - 21 Apr 2015 · Details
