  1. I watched an episode or two but didn't get back to it. That's on me though, I tend to group stuff on Netflix into three groups: stuff I want to watch, stuff that's suitable to have on while I'm doing something else, and stuff that the wife and I might watch together. Mixology is in the third group, but we rarely have time to watch anything together.
  2. So, when the lottery odds were 25% for the last place team (all 20 years until this year, I assume), the last place team won 5 of 20 times? Interesting! :) I think it would depend on the draw, right? If it's the pick-4 or daily number, they used 3-4 machines because numbers could come up more than once (3141, for instance). On this one, the 11 had to go back into the hopper so it wasn't eliminated from the subsequent draws. I guess it would be the same for the big lotto, since numbers could only come up once there too.
  3. Essentially, this discussion boils down to: at 26, is Lucic really on the downward trend, or is it situational with the Bruins this year? Lucic in the past has shown some really strong play, but so have a host of players shown a couple years of "good/great" and then never get that magic back (think Marcus Foligno for those 25 games with Ennis and Staff). Making calls like this are why GMs get the big bucks. The follow-on discussion is, "Is what the Sabres give up worth what Lucic brings now on an already-crowded LW?" I can't say I recall much that Lucic did in the Buffalo v. Boston games this year, but that's not saying much. I'd pass, personally. Good Lucic is a sure upgrade to any Sabres LW not named Kane (and maybe even him, too). This year's Lucic is a 3/4 liner, whom you generally don't pay nearly that much or give up assets to get. Interestingly, Lucic has 3 fighting majors this season. That's one less than Foligno, Weber, and Strachan, and five (!!) less than Chris Stewart.
  4. I'd say anything approaching where the Hawks and Pens are now is fine, even without the Cups. No Cups would be disappointing but there's a lot of chance there so I can't rightfully blame the tank if the Sabres are constantly in the hunt but bounces or injuries always keep them out.
  5. Agreed. With the alternate reading, player sees that the puck clearly was in but play continues. Player knows that none of this counts so skates over and commits some egregious offence to someone on the other team. (PK Subban slash, McSorely, etc.). When it's ruled a goal, that can't get erased.
  6. If I had more access to Star Wars (as in I bothered to buy any of the discs), I'd probably be more into it. As it is, I watch more Star Trek since I can watch nearly all of it on Netflix whenever I feel like it. I remember going to Empire and Jedi when I was a little kid (I would have been too young to remember Ep 4). I saw Episode 1 in the theatre in Fredonia. After that, I had no reason to commit to seeing episodes 2 and 3. I did have Episode 2 on while I was cooking one night a few years ago, and the scene where Obi-wan is driving a speedster-type vehicle through a city making wise cracks for like an hour annoyed me enough (even when I wasn't paying attention) that I turned it off. That's the last time I saw anything Star Wars-related. I probably haven't seen the original Trilogy in at least 10 years.
  7. Matrix loves catch phrases, he's like a sitcom character that way. There was one that he would post and link in the Politics thread and repeat the same line every time. Can't be bothered to look it up. Just for the record, the article is fine (if too long, maybe find an editor to cut out some of the redundacy) even if don't agree with most of the premise. However, as someone upthread mentioned, when your Twitter feed (or any other public forum content) is a dumpster fire of idiocy people aren't going listen to whatever valid points you may have.
  8. Check the Tank Wars thread, last couple pages.
  9. yep. I doubt AZ would trade their 2016 1st round (they'll probably be bad again) and 2 years out is enough time that I'm not sure I'd want their 2017 1st (they may be back on the up-swing).
  10. Oooh, Oooh, who was logged in at the time! :)
  11. Or even receiving passes on your forehand.
  12. I agree, that'd be fantastic. If they wanted to draw it into a 30-minute show, talk about the teams that get eliminated before drawing the next ball. "Oh, New Jersey is out: NJ is looking to improve RW this year with the departure of Jagr and ...."
  13. Three people are using a 6-sided die to select who wins something. They declare that all the even numbers are invalid, and each gets a one odd number (1, 3, 5). If an even number comes up, re-roll. Each person has a 33.33..% chance of winning, despite owning only 16.67..% of the numbers. You'd be right if the draw stopped after the first try, but since it redraws in the case of an invalid number, the percentages are all same as if there wasn't an invalid number.
  14. But in NHL15 you can do it and it only reduces the players stat matrix by 1 point each!
  15. Interesting, based on his Twitter feed I'm shocked that he could write something as intelligent as the article (and I'm not saying that article was intelligent in the first place). It's tenuous, but it's one of only 10 accounts that retweeted the article. And 3 hours later, he tweeted: It appears that my article predictably riled up a bunch of into acting like , proving my point.
  16. I just think trucks like that scream "I wasn't held enough as a baby." Loud motorcycles fall into the same category.
  17. Yeah, you were all guns a-blaze back then. :)
  18. Nick, Lucic, and Kane are all Left wings (as is Foligno, for that matter). Like LGR said upthread, if Lucic was a RW, the idea might get more consideration. Chris Stewart, being a RW, should get some.
  19. Heh, I love reading that thread. The sausage picture, the old posters, Fu-man Drew...
  20. I think provider is a key word there. I'd watch a lot more playoff hockey if I could see it on gamecenter. Without a TV provider, at best I'll turn on some of the NBC games if I'm around the house at the time. Once the playoffs become relevant to the Sabres, I'll probably go with a proxy service. The NHL playoffs aren't worth $100/month (if that even gets me the right cable package). 0xB: send me the semi-legal site in PM if you don't mind, I'd like to give it a look. Preach it brother. Maybe if I get time later, I'll unleash my real complaint for the day.
  21. Para 1: To me the civilized thing to do is reply to the attack with facts, and not attack back. It's the choice between bystanders thinking the "other" poster is a jerk and thinking you're both jerks. Para 2: That's fair. I wonder how much of Nolan's issue with CH is the quality of his play vs. the style of his play. Let's take this to an extreme: without comparing him to CH, what would Nolan do with Ovechkin? Bench him for floating or look the other way? Para 3: The coach's job in that situation is to do what's best for the team in the short (er, middle maybe) and long term. It's not like we're talking about Lundquist vs. Hackett here, we're talking career backup vs. career backup. In the grand scheme of things I don't think Hackett will be a big loss, but in a season winding down with nothing to play for, I don't see the issue with putting the guy in to preserve his contract.
  22. To be honest, it sounds like half the failed dot-coms during the boom (the first one, that is). Whee, we're making money! Wait, what happened? I wouldn't be so bold as to say get out while you can, but...
  23. To be fair, it was bought with company funds. But yeah, suck it up and buy your kid a copy or overnight a new copy to the office.
