  1. No. the last four games are in the range of the late 90s and just a touch higher than the early 2000s. Before 1997-98, you have to go back to 1956-57 to find a lower goals per game average. http://www.hockey-reference.com/leagues/stats.html EDIT: I wish SV% went back further (and wasn't as flawed), it's been pretty steadily rising since the 80s when the number starts. Also, power play opportunities are the lowest recorded number (going back to 1962). The answer is clear: call the penalties on the ice.
  2. While I wouldn't sign him or anything, it's not unusual for a player to play well initially when traded. They feel like they have something to prove, or at least they're paying a ton of attention trying to learn their new surroundings. It's no different than any job in a way. He wasn't playing that well before the trade so I don't think the contract-year theory holds as much water as some think.
  3. I'm no expert in the new playoff format, but wouldn't the first two rounds be within the division, so Toronto and Boston, and the third round Philly? Edit: Bracket: Round1: Buffalo v. don't care Round2: Buffalo v. don't care Round3: Buffalo v. don't care SCF: Buffalo over don't care. THE SABRES WIN THE CUP! :)
  4. As much as I want to agree, Edmonton could be a coach's dream. What's that? You have 3 first-overalls and the team can't get out of the basement? I can fix that!
  5. At least it's a more interesting way to be chained to mediocrity than the last 15 years. Based on the post in the Game of Thrones thread I accidentally read, that seems like the soap opera more than sports. :) Nice.
  6. Ah, so the majority were well before the lockout when they became a big talking point. 8 in the 9 years since Lockout I.
  7. You are correct, sir. I think the Slug discussion came about due to the colors.
  8. TRADING INTO THE FIRST ROUND WILL BE FINE.
  9. Funny how you never hear the words flat tax when talking about businesses.
  10. disclaimer: that page has a link at the bottom that implies Dion Phaneuf is UNFAIRLY lambasted as a terrible player. I question the entire site's sanity.
  11. Or what players will be on the team next year. Trades, FA, NHL vs. AHL. What a stupid question to ask the GM.
  12. Oh, you get the fancy ones? For adults I'd just just a blanket; it's a lot cheaper and multi-purpose.
  13. I haven't tried it (I'd be hard-pressed to find more than 10 articles to read), but it's very possible that browsing the News in Private/Incognito/whatever-IE-calls-it mode would defeat the tracking too.
  14. Come on, be nice. How about the Non-BlackSmiths.
  15. So is this the Baptiste show or is McDavid feeding him endless impossible passes for lay-ups?
  16. He's trollin'.
  17. Continued: Reporter: So Terry, we have a special guest to invite. You'll certainly know him. Terry: !!! Is it Gil? I haven't seen him in awhile. Reporter: No, its Mike Harrington! Mike: Hi Terry, why do you hate the Bills, Sabres, and I heard you don't like Rick's calls?
  18. :flirt: and: Mission Complete: got shrader talking about NBA. :)
  19. Nope, just looked. Charlotte Hornets, just like I remember it. I can't figure out Pelicans though. There had to be a better name than that.
  20. Are there 28 other teams he'd waive his NMC for? (I assume he has one)
  21. Whoops. Next you'll tell me it's not the Charlotte Hornets any more.
  22. It looks Blue with gold outline to me, so slug era (2006-09, right?), it was on the shoulders of the jerseys if I remember right. The Adelphia era would be black, silver and red.
  23. That's incorrect. He's driven the Sabres the junkyard and sold off all the old, rusty panels and parts because he has a new shiny set of panels on order.
