So you're saying Zadorov being Russian didn't have any bearing on this? I guess the best question is: how many of these Russian players have been drafted in the KHL, and is the normal case? http://frozenfutures.com/2014/10/20/nikita-zadorov-buffalo-sabres-tough-spot/

Soccer (Football) ~ Everything About The Beautiful Game
MattPie replied to Sabres Fan in NS's topic in The Aud Club
How about a glossary of terms? Every sport teams communicate with each other but by necessity it's very terse. hockey has "hard" (I think) to denote to a D that a Forward is right on him when he's going back for the puck. In volleyball your team will call out the opposing teams blocks (1, 2, 1 big, etc) (I gather as a hitter I'm supposed to process that info and change my strategy mid-air; I'm just trying to hit the ball the right direction most of the time). So how about it, are there fairly standard things your teammates will be yelling at you in soccer? -
Should Bettman award the Cup? How to improve this ceremony.
MattPie replied to X. Benedict's topic in The Aud Club
My guess: A commissioner can only do bad or neutral things (in the fans' eyes) for your team. I'll use a Sabres example: if Gary Bettman had come out after Hull scored and said, "that wasn't a goal, Hull's foot was in the crease, get these cameras off the ice; we have more hockey to play". Everyone in Buffalo wouldn't be saying, "wow, GB really hooked us up that time; we owe him."; the response would be, "damn right that wasn't a goal, nice of you to not f' that up". -
Thanks for summing up my post! :)

To sum up my thoughts: Ryan O'Reilly is a great player, and will expect to be paid that way. If you trade for him now, you're betting on a few things: You'll be able to resign him otherwise he's a one-year "rental" You'll be able to sign him for significantly less money than he'll get in UFA next year Maybe the extra contract his own team can offer year matters to him It's a gut feeling, but I don't see him doing of those. Maybe he'd get to Buffalo and love it and decide that the future is bright here, but so far money seems to be his driving motivation. The extra contract year may help, but it also may be a negative. I could see him taking a "short" contract of 3-4 years so he can sign an even larger contract at 29. Take a run at him when he's UFA next year, don't waste assets now. As for teams screwed by big contracts, wasn't Tampa Bay hosed a bunch of year ago because they 4 guys on huge contracts and no significant money to fill the roster (Lecavillier, St. Louis, Boyle, and ???). With the cap, you can't pay everyone in you top-6 first line money. It just doesn't work.

Still not buying it, no one willingly goes into HR.
-
Especially in last-minute, crushing fashion in Boston.

Two HR reps enter! One HR rep leaves! Congrats!

To steal (and mangle) a quote from Dave Letterman, "if this is a wig, why would I buy one that looks this bad?"
-
Thanks Lanny. So $875k-ish difference to decide this month. Out of curiousity, what happens if Cody sticks around for another 2 years and the team buys him out then to make room for the big contracts?

HOss is one of your favorites? That's the stupidest thing ever posted here. :)

Come for the Sabres talk, stay for the incredibly off-topic nonsense! -
That's BS. Seems like in 2012 NBC had daytime Olympics coverage on NBC in addition to its hench-networks. In 2014, NBC had f'n soap operas on during the day. Now this is the fight that makes sense. :) The quasi-legal (or maybe not really) is to borrow someone's cable login to watch the streamed games online. Oh, and for Saturdays: HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA.

My wife and I were complaining about the heat and humidity here in PA this week (90+ and 60%+), until a friend from Greensboro NC stopped by and note how cool and low humidity it was here. We had joked about moving into a house next door to them that's for sale, but I think it's off the list now.

I doubt most folks would think of that, it'd be nigh-well impossible for you to get 20-30 live Avs games in FL without CI/GC, but watching replays makes sense. Everyone Keep Calm and Keep Going. :)

Better if you rm -f /etc/blatter.sh && sync to make sure it gets written to disk right away. Although with FIFA, mkfs $(awk '{if ($2 == "/") { print $1;};};' /etc/mtab) might be the only solution. EDIT: That's a semi-valid command, not just jibberish. -
Other posters have implied that the difference is $800k. While not pennies, it's not a ton of money either.

Maybe she raised the money on yotespace.com. :)

Sounds good, I've had a couple basil cocktails but not that one. As a note on the bakers sugar, I think you can put regular white sugar in a food processer to make it finer-grained.

Interesting, I'm kind of torn. The Scrambler is the cooler of the two, but it'd be a shame if you never took those chunky TKC-80 tires off-road, but you'd have quite the stripe of mud on your back with that bob fender. As much as a like design exercises, motorcycles are for riding (I have 71000 miles on mine) and have to be a little practical before it really moves for me. We should really unearth the motorcycle thread for this though....

You can say that, but there's no reason to think EDM would have had the exact same seasons if the Sabres hadn't matched. They may well have decided that without firsts they need to be more proactive in FA and trades and built a decent if not good team.

When do you figure you'll get back to the board tongiht? I want to have my popcorn ready. :) (I'm just jealous, I don't get to go out boozing very often these days.)

I was going to post a picture of the Ducati (I hadn't really looked at it), but when I did I thought, "Ick, that's not a scrambler." I haven't looked much at the Huskies, running off to Google now!

Recommendations: - Victory Headwaters Pale ale: Hoppy pale ale, 4.5% for outside in the summer - Southern Tier Live: another great, hoppy beer that's not going to kill you with ABV - If it gets up there, but Sly Fox makes some nice beers in cans. The Phoniex Pale Ale and 113 IPA are really good, the Wiess is a little off but good too. I haven't had the others recently. -
