  1. 8. The Buffalo Sabres choo- choo- choose Jack Eichel.
  2. it. I wrote it, Firefox didn't flag it, I even Googled it to make sure (where I missed the extra 'L').
  3. Isn't Grigo still ranked in the top-100 prospects in most places?
  4. No poll? 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 12-20, The entire Hamlet soliquoly. (Also: i can't believe I spelled soliquoly right the first time; while typing this parenthetical I misspelled "beleive" and "rigth")
  5. Hmm, maybe EDM would be a more interesting matchup. :)
  6. Maybe, they tend to close a bit early there (I know, I closed the place down a few times). I think closing time is 1AM here Sunday-Thursday and 2AM Friday aand Saturday.
  7. I think you can say a lot of things about today's hockey, but being the same as 05-06-07 isn't one of them.
  8. , the place I had lunch today has it on tap and I didn't try it. I wonder if they're still open...
  9. Only if she floats. (Are we trying to get Angry 11 out?)
  10. PA is spinning up right now, I can't wait to see what he writes!
  11. I'll give you that it's not Russians per se. It seems like players that have drafted by a KHL team (who largely are Russian) carry risk as from my reading of the article I posted, the KHL team may not release the player to go back to the CHL. Or is that something specific to Zadarov's case?
  12. So you're saying Zadorov being Russian didn't have any bearing on this? I guess the best question is: how many of these Russian players have been drafted in the KHL, and is the normal case? http://frozenfutures.com/2014/10/20/nikita-zadorov-buffalo-sabres-tough-spot/
  13. Murray WHO! people, names!
  14. How about a glossary of terms? Every sport teams communicate with each other but by necessity it's very terse. hockey has "hard" (I think) to denote to a D that a Forward is right on him when he's going back for the puck. In volleyball your team will call out the opposing teams blocks (1, 2, 1 big, etc) (I gather as a hitter I'm supposed to process that info and change my strategy mid-air; I'm just trying to hit the ball the right direction most of the time). So how about it, are there fairly standard things your teammates will be yelling at you in soccer?
  15. My guess: A commissioner can only do bad or neutral things (in the fans' eyes) for your team. I'll use a Sabres example: if Gary Bettman had come out after Hull scored and said, "that wasn't a goal, Hull's foot was in the crease, get these cameras off the ice; we have more hockey to play". Everyone in Buffalo wouldn't be saying, "wow, GB really hooked us up that time; we owe him."; the response would be, "damn right that wasn't a goal, nice of you to not f' that up".
  16. Thanks for summing up my post! :)
  17. To sum up my thoughts: Ryan O'Reilly is a great player, and will expect to be paid that way. If you trade for him now, you're betting on a few things: You'll be able to resign him otherwise he's a one-year "rental" You'll be able to sign him for significantly less money than he'll get in UFA next year Maybe the extra contract his own team can offer year matters to him It's a gut feeling, but I don't see him doing of those. Maybe he'd get to Buffalo and love it and decide that the future is bright here, but so far money seems to be his driving motivation. The extra contract year may help, but it also may be a negative. I could see him taking a "short" contract of 3-4 years so he can sign an even larger contract at 29. Take a run at him when he's UFA next year, don't waste assets now. As for teams screwed by big contracts, wasn't Tampa Bay hosed a bunch of year ago because they 4 guys on huge contracts and no significant money to fill the roster (Lecavillier, St. Louis, Boyle, and ???). With the cap, you can't pay everyone in you top-6 first line money. It just doesn't work.
  18. Still not buying it, no one willingly goes into HR.
  19. Especially in last-minute, crushing fashion in Boston.
  20. Two HR reps enter! One HR rep leaves! Congrats!
  21. To steal (and mangle) a quote from Dave Letterman, "if this is a wig, why would I buy one that looks this bad?"
  22. Thanks Lanny. So $875k-ish difference to decide this month. Out of curiousity, what happens if Cody sticks around for another 2 years and the team buys him out then to make room for the big contracts?
  23. HOss is one of your favorites? That's the stupidest thing ever posted here. :)
  24. Come for the Sabres talk, stay for the incredibly off-topic nonsense!
  25. That's BS. Seems like in 2012 NBC had daytime Olympics coverage on NBC in addition to its hench-networks. In 2014, NBC had f'n soap operas on during the day. Now this is the fight that makes sense. :) The quasi-legal (or maybe not really) is to borrow someone's cable login to watch the streamed games online. Oh, and for Saturdays: HOCKEY NIGHT IN CANADA.
