To sum up my thoughts: Ryan O'Reilly is a great player, and will expect to be paid that way. If you trade for him now, you're betting on a few things: You'll be able to resign him otherwise he's a one-year "rental" You'll be able to sign him for significantly less money than he'll get in UFA next year Maybe the extra contract his own team can offer year matters to him It's a gut feeling, but I don't see him doing of those. Maybe he'd get to Buffalo and love it and decide that the future is bright here, but so far money seems to be his driving motivation. The extra contract year may help, but it also may be a negative. I could see him taking a "short" contract of 3-4 years so he can sign an even larger contract at 29. Take a run at him when he's UFA next year, don't waste assets now. As for teams screwed by big contracts, wasn't Tampa Bay hosed a bunch of year ago because they 4 guys on huge contracts and no significant money to fill the roster (Lecavillier, St. Louis, Boyle, and ???). With the cap, you can't pay everyone in you top-6 first line money. It just doesn't work.

That's BS. Seems like in 2012 NBC had daytime Olympics coverage on NBC in addition to its hench-networks. In 2014, NBC had f'n soap operas on during the day. Interesting, I'm kind of torn. The Scrambler is the cooler of the two, but it'd be a shame if you never took those chunky TKC-80 tires off-road, but you'd have quite the stripe of mud on your back with that bob fender. You can say that, but there's no reason to think EDM would have had the exact same seasons if the Sabres hadn't matched. They may well have decided that without firsts they need to be more proactive in FA and trades and built a decent if not good team.

Recommendations: - Victory Headwaters Pale ale: Hoppy pale ale, 4.5% for outside in the summer - Southern Tier Live: another great, hoppy beer that's not going to kill you with ABV - If it gets up there, but Sly Fox makes some nice beers in cans. Even without the tank conspiracy, is it so hard to believe that some of the players weren't motivated to kick ass based on the situation last year? I'm no professional athelete but I know it'd be tough for me work hard and keep motivated last season. In any case, I'd lean towards keeping him (especailly if the penalty is only $800000 like someone mentioned) in hopes that he'll go back to leading the team in points like two years ago.
