Someone referred to Johnson as Ocho Cinco, didn't they? I remember someone here being very excited by that.

Just to note, some 401ks have different matching that 100%. Mine, for example, matches 50%, up to 8% (so their max contribution is 4% if I contribute 8%). And they match with company stock, so every so often you should look at your mix and transfer money out of company stock if that's the case.

There's a regular IRA and Roth IRA, and the differences have to do with when the taxes are applied (on contribution or at withdrawal). I forget which is which, but generally you want taxes on withdrawal when you're young so there's more money in it to grow, and as you get older that switches so you pay taxes on the smaller amount now and don't get taxed on the larger sum at the end.

RosePie is going as a panda, it's adorable. We're just walking acrosst the the street and hanging out the neighbors in the the driveway to give out candy. We'll see at least 200, maybe 300 kids. I live in a newer neighborhood less than a mile uphill from downtown Coatesville, which is a small city with big city problems. We don't have much trouble since the cops roll through regularly and the 5-7PM window is still light out for the most part. Definitely get the drop-off effect up here though, although I suppose some of the more enterprising kids might be hiking up (it's a good 200-300 ft. elevation change, so good on them).

Does that include Labrador too?

Maybe Nova Scotia is the Arkansas of Canada.

To be honest, I snicker at the person for mixing up deficit and debt. (well. not outwardly). :) The deficit is around 434B$ (or as I like to say, gigadollars), the debt is 18 teradollars. Since this is often confused (and I may get this wrong) he difference is the debt is what we owe currently (your total net worth) and the deficit is the net change over a period of time (income vs. spending). I'd respect the Republican position a lot more if they shut up about cutting taxes and just talked about cutting spending to get deficit spending under control. As it is, they seem to want to cut taxes and only marginally cut spending, which is going the wrong direction. It's like they've never had to budget money. "I'm going to take a pay cut, but keep spending money like before. It'll be OK because in the long run I'll make more money. Unless I decide to spend more too, which I ALWAYS do." The successful may not (often do not?) have the good of the economy in mind, just the good of their business. That's a tough one. In a way, you're not getting away from it anyway. Most (all?) financial institutions take the money you deposit and invest it anyway. You put $1000 in the bank at 1%. The bank turns around and invests that $1000 in something (the market, real estate, whatever), makes 7% on it, and pockets the 6% difference. At least that's how I understand it. I know you said no stock market, but how would you feel about an index fund? I'm a rube at this, but as I understand it they don't really try to play games, just spread money out on the market as a whole, which historically nets an OK yield (I think something like 7%).

Read that for a Philosophy class in college; I think I still have the book around because I liked it so much (along with another couple plays).

You know what the video needs at the end? "Oh, and the Pens Score! What a great play by Crosby there, he was on the bench but clearly had a large part in that goal." -

As for the GT question, I think (at least in the old rules) that if you pull the GT and lose, you don't get the OTL point. -

I wonder how long it takes before some coach puts out 2D and a center on the 3 on 3, in hopes they can trade 3 on 2 rushes coming where way to spring the center on a breakaway. Call it the trap for OT. -
The Bills have to go 6-3 for the rest of the season just to get back to last year's record, which probably means missing the playoffs. I wouldn't say a word to anyone that gave up on them at this point; I more or less have.

Maybe this isn't a great parallel, but I used to do track days on my motorcycle (go to a track, ride around really fast). There was one corner at Thunderbolt Circuit that I just could not get; it's a long right hander that suddenly tightens up at the end. After I think two times there I couldn't figure it out; I even went off into the grass on one pass. Then I watched an AMA race on that track on TV and made it a point to watch whenever they showed that corner. Next time out? Nailed it. Turn 9, if anyone is interested. http://www.njmp.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/tboltmap.pdf

Heh, at 1:13, who is #15 that year, he gets a plus 1 (I think) being 10 ft onto the ice for the goal. -
Maybe it's that both teams were coming off "frugal" owners, and Terry does believe that the people already in place will be fine given increased operating budgets. So not "Czar Terry", but "Czar Terry's wallet".

You're 100% right, using a Proxy service is illegal. I think it's a greyer area than paying another entity money to stream, but neither of us has a leg to stand on. FWIW, I haven't actually decided whether I'm going to proxy because I do have qualms about it.

The problem is this year looks more like 7-9 than 10-6, so good start or not, the team isn't showing improvement this year (I suppose they could finish the year 9-2, but I'd put money on it not happening.
-
"Everyone" would be a strong word for it. There are certainly people here that feel that the playoffs this year would be positive, and those that would rather have improvement but still be in the lottery (I'm in the latter category, FWIW). I try not to worry about it too much; for one, it doesn't matter what I think since the team is studiously ignoring my repeated phone calls and faxes offering advice, and two, I doubt this team will be close to making playoffs so the discussion is moot.

Wow, you're really putting the hammer down on that idea. Hey-o.

Having a kid, one does not simply do things when they plan to; being able to wait is the most important part of being a parent.
