Heh, at 1:13, who is #15 that year, he gets a plus 1 (I think) being 10 ft onto the ice for the goal. -
Maybe it's that both teams were coming off "frugal" owners, and Terry does believe that the people already in place will be fine given increased operating budgets. So not "Czar Terry", but "Czar Terry's wallet".

You're 100% right, using a Proxy service is illegal. I think it's a greyer area than paying another entity money to stream, but neither of us has a leg to stand on. FWIW, I haven't actually decided whether I'm going to proxy because I do have qualms about it.

The problem is this year looks more like 7-9 than 10-6, so good start or not, the team isn't showing improvement this year (I suppose they could finish the year 9-2, but I'd put money on it not happening.

"Everyone" would be a strong word for it. There are certainly people here that feel that the playoffs this year would be positive, and those that would rather have improvement but still be in the lottery (I'm in the latter category, FWIW). I try not to worry about it too much; for one, it doesn't matter what I think since the team is studiously ignoring my repeated phone calls and faxes offering advice, and two, I doubt this team will be close to making playoffs so the discussion is moot.

Wow, you're really putting the hammer down on that idea. Hey-o.

Having a kid, one does not simply do things when they plan to; being able to wait is the most important part of being a parent.

I have pretty infinite patience, because as time is running, I care less. I remember thinking in 99 and 05-07, "man, if the Sabres win it all it's going to be such a party, it'll be great and I'll be there." (meaning in Buffalo or the surrounding area) Now, with responsibilities there's almost no way I'm going out the celebrate the way I'd like; to enjoy it the way I'd like. I probably won't even be able to watch the game effectively since I don't have cable. So while I care, it's not nearly as important to me as it once would have been.

I think most of the people here will call it what it is: a fairly balanced trade. Maybe the Darcy years have set the wrong tone, there are trades that aren't fleecings in one direction or the other. At this moment in time, the two primary players that came to Buffalo are hurt so I guess in your terms it's a hose job. In other news, I got totally screwed on my mortgage, I'm paying all that money and I'm NOT EVEN HOME RIGHT NOW!

That's about the only Twin Peaks I've seen. I remember it being on when it originally aired, but it didn't gain traction at my house.

I'll give you Stafford finishing there gave you the edge on resigning him. As Ink mentioned in the other thread, though, a typical rental player's value on the open market is a 2nd round pick, and negotiating rights have gone for a 4th round pick in the past (Ehrhoff is the most recent example I can think of). If winning the trade hinges on those values, I'm not going to sweat it. Myers and Bogo is a hockey trade: Myers has more offensive upside and Bogo has more grit. Both teams needed the the other, so it's a wash.

Look under "brawl". :) -
Philosophical question: is it better for Toronto to suffer, or have them think they're going to be good (like trading for Stamkos) and then suffering for other reasons?
-
Only in hindsight could that be true, as Ink pointed out in that other thread, Stafford was a UFA; regardless of how well he's playing right now, at the time he could have just as easily walked over the summer. If Stafford had been signed for X more years, you may be right (and that assumes Kane flames out in Buffalo). Myers and Bogo are still a wash; both good D with flaws, just different flaws.

Well, this snuck up on me. I usually plan to watch the Flyers games with a couple local friends (or even go to a game or two) but I'm not sure I can swing it tonight. I think I need to get the proxy stuff set up pretty quick so I can queue up GCL without the local blackout. -
Yep, and Yahoo! showed the technology wasn't ready for primetime at least at my house. Relatively new laptop (1920x1080 screen), FIOS internet (25Mb, I think), and it would still bounce around between "pretty good", "a little fuzzy", and "2002 amateur porn" quality levels. I didn't plug in the TV, but "pretty good" looked relatively clean on the laptop screen.

RosePie just started too. It seemed like she had been ready for awhile then, boom, all over the pace. It's great and terrifying!

Without Jem? That's ridiculous.

It's probably worth noting that Girgensons has played all but a handful of his NHL games in Ted Nolan's system (a bunch of games in October 2013 under Rolston and this year under Bylsma); he may be adjusting to a system that requires more than "work hard" for nearly the last two years. I think he was under Rolston in the AHL in 12-13, which implies a system but I don't know how effective it was.

I found a big jump going to loose tea over bags if you don't mind the hassle. There's a bit of sticker shock when you look at the per-pound prices, but a pound of tea is a *lot*. I haven't tried the Earl Gray Numi tea loose, but the Green Jasmine 1lb bag may be one of the best deals going at ~$20. I weighed it out once and per cup, you're only using a gram or two of tea so 1lb is 250+ cups. More if you do a second run re-using the same leaves. http://www.amazon.com/Numi-Organic-Italian-Bergamot-Black/dp/B00G9NQXZS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1445886730&sr=8-3&keywords=numi+earl
