I was (hopefully) pointing out that fans often bring their own baggage to player evaluation so saying something like, "the Avs fans aren't happy with Grigorenko" may not hold as much weight as people think. If you asked around here last year, Weber was terrible (and some still hold to that now), but realistically he's probably average for a 5-6 defender in the NHL and his play shows it this year. (and yeah, I typo'd Lehner; I'm usually pretty good with getting names right but I haven't had to type his name much :))

FWIW, if you listen to the fans there, Robin Lenart is the worst Swedish goaltender since Gustav Turdisson (Turdsie to his teammates). The Avs fans are going to have expectations for Grigorenko as part of the package coming back for O'Reilly; expectations he may never be able to live up to.

Tim Thomas. And... Miller?

I'm convinced, good work. I'd guess that the baseball ASG A: looks like regular baseball as team chesistry isn't as important to playing normal-looking baseball and B: that weird home-field advantage thing for the WS is riding on it.

Attention all NC folk: Wegmans is coming to Cary

At the Big G, there was a tasting room where various people (who had some training) would sit together and sample the output over the last day or two and compare against samples from further back to make sure everything was consistent. I assume it works the same in all food industries; although for that one I'm guessing there's a spit bucket and the tasting is done towards the end of a shift. -
I expect he'll come out playing with his hair on fire to show Buffalo what they gave up.

I'm not sure too many people outside area code 716 (and 814, hat tip to you) expected the Sabres to be in the conversation.

I tend to agree. How about this: the Eagles has a profound effect on music listeners in the 70s and maybe 80s, where Bowie was never as popular for his classic rock period, but his moves into pop and electronic later in his career, as well as movies and fashion puts him more prevalent in the popular mind.

At the western Philly suburbs stores I frequent, Bison is usually available. Troyer Farms chips I haven't seen. I looked last night and they had Zweigle's but not Sahlen's (they also had Hoffman's, from Syracuse). You might get more Buffalo stuff in NC though; there's certainly a large and vocal enough population of Buffalo ex-pats. -

My wife digs Weg's Vodka sauce, thanks! I like all the pasta sauces I've tried, although they're not as good as mine. :) -
Well, before the weekend I would have doubted it, but now, still doubt it but at least it's in the range of possibility.

How far are the Sabres from a playoff berth this year?

I haven't seen Sahlens as lately at my local store (which is on the small side), I'm going over to a larger store tonight; I'll have to take a look. They usually have Weber's and the mix to make the brown hotdog sauce though. -
I don't know who Mike Sharpe is either. Mick Box is the Guitarist for Uriah Heep and Ron Bushy is the drummer for Iron Butterfly (I had to look them up). I used them (somewhat joking) as examples of bands that were popular (Iron Butterfly has a platinum album and Uriah Heep had several albums in the top-50) but largely forgotten. I'm not saying the Eagles will be forgotten, BTW. Another interesting one is JJ Cale. If you look at the people that cite him as an influence it's incredible that almost no one knows who he is. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JJ_Cale

Pysyk back, game won, case closed! :)

Anyone tried running snowshoes? I'm not a runner, but I've run very short distances in my regular snowshoes and it's not that unnatural.

Could be, I was a kid in the 80s and not around for enough of the 70s to remember much. All the same, I don't think the Eagles currently have anywhere near the impact of Bowie or Alan Rickman on the general consciousnes; I somewhat stand by my point (not to offend anyone). It's not like it's Mick Box or Ron Bushy we're talking about here. :)

This belongs here I guess: It looks to me like the player in red that was tied up with the Linesman (73, also hit the GT) may have still been fired up and was going to go after someone else. I'm not sure what the trainer was thinking (maybe he's the kid's dad or something).
