Dan Bylsma new Sabres head coach (now official!)

That's how I took it. -
I'm sure they already are. I'd say Communism is the melding of Extreme Socialism and Fascism. There's no reason you can't have Socialism as a part of a Capitalistic economic system, as America is right now. Everyone is essentially arguing over where to slide on the scale, with really tight regulations and large social programs on one end and completely open economy on the other end.

Can you salvage the parts from the old one for the new, or did you just replace the motor on the randomly up-down one?

Thanks. I skipped a word in there, Drouin is very boom-bust right now. He may be worth the #3 pick someday, but right now any team that takes him is as likely to never see 100 NHL games out of him. I'd consider a combination of a couple non-1st round picks or an OK roster player. This is where good GMs and scouts make their money. Some team will take him, have no doubt. The potential is too high. How many teams have taken a flyer on Cody H or Zack K so far? I wouldn't even mind seeing him in a Sabres uniform for the next couple years if the price isn't too high. I was very cautious about Ryan O'Reilly because he made a stink while he was in Colorado, and that turned out OK.

Handy map. My house is just inside the bullseye at 2 o'clock.

Uber is an interesting example. It sounds great on the surface, but issues come up when you start to dig or you throw away the assumption that everyone is going to be nice and play by the unwritten rules. Mostly accountability since Uber vehemently classifies it's drivers as contractors and not employees. If something bad were to happen during an uber trip (ranging from the driver deciding to kick you out because he feels like to robbery to rape), Uber is going to just say, sorry for your luck; here's the info on the driver, maybe it's not fake. I'm not even sure there's a reasonable verification process for drivers, it's not like they have to go sign up at the local uber office and check IDs. Deregulation equals buyer beware, it puts the burden of being safe on the individual. Some may argue that's a good thing, but sometimes I just want to get in a taxi and not have to vet the driver beforehand.

Does Matt Ellis have a NTC? :) I'd be wary of a 2nd and a player, but either or a player and lower pick I'd be all over it. Gigantic reward, and the pick isn't that much risk.

I'm with you LGR. I wasn't paying 100% attention, but a few of Lehner's "incredible saves" were directly related to him flailing around the net in the first place. As I think I said upthread, it reminds me a bit of Ullmark early this year who seems to play out it. Hopefully the game will slow down for Lehner as he gets more comfortable and he'll look more composed. -
Seems that way, this looks like one of those storms with moisture coming up from the south hitting cold air from the north. They seem to run along the Blue Ridge / Blue Mountain line of ridges (Roanoke / Harrisburg / Allentown / Poughkeepsie) and don't cross to the north or west. Last I checked, my house is forecast on the edge of the line where I should be buying 12 cases of beer or 15 bottles of liquor.

Jeebus, Risto, that was sweet, it may have even made ESPN talk about hockey if it had gone in. -

ROR with a point, McGinn +1, I'll take it. -
I fully agree. And kudos for nabbing the Eichel/Reinhart avatar.
-
I'd watch it if I had cable and was around in the past. I enjoy the skills more than the game though.

I want him just for Fiala la la la la SCOOOORRRRREEEESSSS! (or would Fa la la la la, Fiala! be better?)

I was (hopefully) pointing out that fans often bring their own baggage to player evaluation so saying something like, "the Avs fans aren't happy with Grigorenko" may not hold as much weight as people think. If you asked around here last year, Weber was terrible (and some still hold to that now), but realistically he's probably average for a 5-6 defender in the NHL and his play shows it this year. (and yeah, I typo'd Lehner; I'm usually pretty good with getting names right but I haven't had to type his name much :))
-
FWIW, if you listen to the fans there, Robin Lenart is the worst Swedish goaltender since Gustav Turdisson (Turdsie to his teammates). The Avs fans are going to have expectations for Grigorenko as part of the package coming back for O'Reilly; expectations he may never be able to live up to.

Tim Thomas. And... Miller?

I'm convinced, good work. I'd guess that the baseball ASG A: looks like regular baseball as team chesistry isn't as important to playing normal-looking baseball and B: that weird home-field advantage thing for the WS is riding on it.

Attention all NC folk: Wegmans is coming to Cary

At the Big G, there was a tasting room where various people (who had some training) would sit together and sample the output over the last day or two and compare against samples from further back to make sure everything was consistent. I assume it works the same in all food industries; although for that one I'm guessing there's a spit bucket and the tasting is done towards the end of a shift. -
I expect he'll come out playing with his hair on fire to show Buffalo what they gave up.

I'm not sure too many people outside area code 716 (and 814, hat tip to you) expected the Sabres to be in the conversation.
