It's been some serious partying around here this week; on Tuesday (as mentioned above) I got out of work late enough that my wife and kid were in bed so Victory for me. Then, my wife's parents have been in town this weekend so I've been out with MrsPie three nights in a row; Friday to "The Whip Tavern" for beef on weck and beer, Saturday to Victory (in Parkesburg), and tonight to Station taproom. I feel like I'm 37 again!

SNOW-MERANG! OR AN ALIEN CRAFT! OR MUTATED GEESE BAILING!
MattPie replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
My mom mentioned that it snowed on my grandmother's 70th birthday (which would have been in the late 90s, I think), which was 5/25 (within a day or two). -
IIRC, McKee broke down early in that St Louis contract, so saying they bought him out because he was too expensive might be only half true. http://espn.go.com/nhl/news/story?id=4295856

I concur, the recipe I use (that I haven't made in years) is oat-based and turned out like big slices of meatball.

Correct, the first thing you probably had to do was log in with your TV provider info.

You have to be more specific re: "lockout" :wallbash: . At least it's still not on "Outdoor Life Network" sandwiched between huntin' and fishin'. Damn, you beat me too it.

NBC paid a ton of money to the NHL for the TV rights, and being a cable company as well (Comcast), they're not going to make it easier for people to turn off cable and go internet-only. Maybe that's short sighted in the long run but it's the way they're playing it. To a degree, I think they have to; NBCSN probably isn't a big draw without the exclusive rights to hockey when negotiating with cable carriers. Carries would start dropping it if people could get games online. And yeah, it sucks. Next year if the Sabres are in the playoffs, I have some big decisions to make in terms of cable (I don't have it now, and don't really want it back outside this one thing)

How do you feel about Sabres charging for NHL Draft?
MattPie replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Aud Club
Gavin Rossdale, wasn't it? -
I have more trouble with Yakima Glory when it's around. It's 8.7% but drinks really easily. Some years ago when my wife and I were dating, we had lunch at victory while hockey was on. At the end of lunch I suggested that we go over to the bar to watch the end of the game (I seem to think it was Philly/Pitts in the playoffs). We ended up sharing Storm Kings for the rest of that game and a bunch of the next game too. She didn't realize how strong it was until she could barely walk when she got up. When we got back to the house, she tripped on the stairs in the garage and told me "just leave me here, go on inside". I carried her to the couch; chivalry isn't dead.

They may be 20oz pours, I'd have to check. At least 16oz.

I hear the price is going up to $30.

If I remember right, when Joe Montana went to KC he had to go from 16 to 19 because 16 was retired. (Googling...) Len Dawson (HOF QB) apparently offered the number to Montana but he turned him down. Montana hadn't worn #19 since youth FB.

I had two beers last night an I'm feeling it today. Granted, the first was a Victory Storm King (on nitro!) at 9+% and the second was a St Victorious at 7.6% so I have some excuse, but man am I getting old.
-
I see where you're confused: you expect ESPN to do more than the bare minimum to cover hockey.

Dinosaurs, man. There's a ring headed by Milbury and NHL HQ. haha, nice. On a side note, learning a little Python wouldn't be a bad idea, WC. It's a lot quicker to get small stuff done than Java. It's also OO, so you shouldn't have too much trouble picking it up. I started writing a tool for work and within a day or two I felt like I had a decent handle on the basics (and I haven't coded much of anything in at least a decade).

Fat tire has it's moments; Someone told me it's a lot better on draft rather than bottle. The Ranger IPA isn't bad either way; I think I have one bottle of that left in the fridge.

Buffalo is almost Canada, right?
-
Two notes I hadn't thought about before: - Roy to have what, 4 points that night? (I'm not sure if he got an assist on the 10.7 seconds left goal. - The two Sabres goals to end the game were only 30 seconds apart in playing time.

Depends on if GDP (or some better measure of the economy size) stayed the same too.

Rule of thirds! I'll have to dig some more up, I have a few that I'm somewhat proud of. My wife is a lot better at this than I am; she's done shows and taught classes for kids a CEPA in Buffalo.

How do they feel about the Swiss league?
