If I remember right, when Joe Montana went to KC he had to go from 16 to 19 because 16 was retired. (Googling...) Len Dawson (HOF QB) apparently offered the number to Montana but he turned him down. Montana hadn't worn #19 since youth FB.

I had two beers last night an I'm feeling it today. Granted, the first was a Victory Storm King (on nitro!) at 9+% and the second was a St Victorious at 7.6% so I have some excuse, but man am I getting old.

I see where you're confused: you expect ESPN to do more than the bare minimum to cover hockey.

Dinosaurs, man. There's a ring headed by Milbury and NHL HQ. haha, nice. On a side note, learning a little Python wouldn't be a bad idea, WC. It's a lot quicker to get small stuff done than Java. It's also OO, so you shouldn't have too much trouble picking it up. I started writing a tool for work and within a day or two I felt like I had a decent handle on the basics (and I haven't coded much of anything in at least a decade).

Fat tire has it's moments; Someone told me it's a lot better on draft rather than bottle. The Ranger IPA isn't bad either way; I think I have one bottle of that left in the fridge.

Buffalo is almost Canada, right?

Two notes I hadn't thought about before: - Roy to have what, 4 points that night? (I'm not sure if he got an assist on the 10.7 seconds left goal. - The two Sabres goals to end the game were only 30 seconds apart in playing time.

Depends on if GDP (or some better measure of the economy size) stayed the same too.

Rule of thirds! I'll have to dig some more up, I have a few that I'm somewhat proud of. My wife is a lot better at this than I am; she's done shows and taught classes for kids a CEPA in Buffalo.

How do they feel about the Swiss league?

That was a pretty cool documentary.

I agree. There are certainly good and bad teachers out there, but on the whole there are more issues with the system than with the teachers themselves.

:) Part of the issue is RosePie is a fair bit ahead of where she should be in terms of language and some physical abilities, so we're concerned she'll get bored. She's already got a decent handle on letters and phonics and she's started counting things (although I'm not sure she's actually counting per se or just saying the words in order; except 7, she skips 7 every time). By time she gets to K, it'll likely be review for awhile. MrsPIe was one of those kids that couldn't deal with it and acted out.

In Germany, I think they separate out into tracks in 4th grade. I understand what you're saying, but at the same time I'm not sure it's better for everyone to be lumped together even if it means breaking up some friendships. This has been a hot subject of discussion at Chez Pie as we're in a pretty crappy school district so we're trying to figure out if we're moving, doing private school, or trying to make the local public school work for awhile to buy more time.

This. We're currently solidly in the "well, some scouts have the said consensus #2 pick might be really close to the #1 pick now!" part of the rhythm. It's happened the last three years. Before that year, I think it was the 3-way tie of Drouin/MacKinnon/Jones that do they had to update their articles a bit to talk about Barkov might challenge the big 3.

OK, which one of you did this? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/343769998/trump-against-humanity

That seems unlikely, but who knows. I'd think Edmonton would want the best D prospect in the draft and could pick up someone Pysyk-like somewhere else.

I think you're talking about this year, "in the hunt for the top picks" seems like a stretch for a team that finished 22nd and played at a playoff-bubble pace for several months after a pretty crappy start. I'm guessing they're not the same people. :)- 456 replies

I think we're all spoiled by the 6.050 and 5.651 in 2005-06.

What's incredible is how well World-wide Stout hides its alcohol. One day at lunch I had a normal beer, then that and for the next hour or three I was loopy. If I didn't read the board I would have guessed 9%, not 15+%. I couldn't pass up a 10oz pour for something like $7.

If I happen to be in town, which is pretty unlikely, I'm in. I love making non-commitments for stuff that's impossible. -
FWIW, 120 minute isn't nearly as hoppy as other IPAs.

I read an article about that subject awhile back on Players Tribune. There's this crazy gold-rush right at the end of the draft. Teams have already been in contact with players to let them know they'll be in touch, and it's a "accept this offer in 10 minutes or it's off the table type stuff" as soon as the draft ends.
