The value decision is up to you. :) I always thought of it this way: once you get to the performance level you require for whatever you're doing (games, video, whatevers) that's the base. Buy more performance than that, and you're buying time before the software takes more and more CPU and/or GPU until the hardware you bought can no longer cope. The other way to look at it is stuff gets expensive fast when you get up to the high end. I'll put it in car terms: you can buy a car that's 50% faster than Honda Fit relatively easily. You have to spend a lot more to find something that's 50% faster than that car. There's logic in buying the (hopefully) inexpensive card that does what you need now and then upgrading when needed with another inexpensive card that due to time has much better performance. If we're talking $200 and $300 cards, it's probably a wash; I'd buy the $300 card just so I don't have to mess with it for longer. If you were debating a $200 vs. a $750 card, I'd say $200. You could upgrade that card 3 times in the next 5 years and still be ahead on cash, and probably have a faster card at the end than the $750 card bought now and never upgraded.

Good. Even if you buy "mistakenly posted as public, I meant to send privately" it's still stupid.

THE SABRES MAY OR MAY NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

I'm a fan of Newegg, but that goes back years. Mostly because they have a great search filter to narrow down to what you want (other sites may have caught up) and they often ship out of a warehouse in NJ that means whatever shipping option I choose it shows up the next day (or 2 at most).

No kidding. I think I can stream the football game on my phone (thanks Verizon) but not to my TV (thanks Verizon). If the game is on ESPN2, I doubt I'll be able to find a legitimate stream. I'll have to watch the highlights whenever they show up.

Complete with eye patch!

Are they a contender with whomever Bradford is replacing? If they figure their collection of players won't be together much longer, they're shooting for the moon.

NO IDEA. :)

Ask if they'll add wing sauce to the red sauce on the pizza. :)

I have so much work that I need to do next week that it's not a purely holiday weekend for me.

Hahaha. I've gotten the opposite take: I cannot start watching this as I do not have time to binge watch anything.

How about Las Vegas Nom Muet for their eventual move to Quebec.

I'd think he's on track to be UFA at 25, he's been pro (in Rochester) since 18. Right?

I'm partial to Wegmans Lump Charcoal, primary because I walk past it at the grocery store. :)

I have to yell at kids to get off my lawn all summer, I'm not sure your anecdote holds up. :) The thing that surprised me the most is they'll be out playing football while the Eagles game is on TV. (Disclaimer: both my neighbors with young kids (5-10 years old) moved away, so the kids are fewer now)

Make sense, thanks. That makes my interest even more irrational as I almost never do long cooks. The only thing I cook that's more than "make it hot" is paella, and that's done with the lid open all the time so I can't imagine it'd matter.

Oh come on, if we're talking about layers the discussion begins and ends with Smith Island cake.

I've been irrationally drawn to that style as well, although I have no idea why. I assume the insulation keeps the interior temperature more stable for long-cooking items? In any case, I'll have to keep an eye out for the propane starter if I ever buy another charcoal grill. I never use mine (a very cheap and basic kettle) because it's not worth the time to light for small family stuff, and I don't have friends.

I'm glad it worked out, that's my go-to for stuff like this. So many issues can be software OR hardware that completely swapping out the software will often start you off in the right direction and it's as easy as plugging in a USB stick to test it (well, after you have the stick created and if your BIOS behaves). As for the video card affecting the system running, devices in the system have hooks that are pretty deep. If could have been crashing the bus (PCI Express, or whatever is current now) and taking everything down, or hold DMA (Direct Memory Access, if that's still a thing) open so the CPU couldn't read the memory, re-writing the wrong parts of memory, etc..

I was thinking about this more, if you're getting the lines on the bios screen, I think we're talking hardware. I'd swap monitors, cables, and inputs, and video card after that. Power supply is a decent idea too, the capacitors in the power supply age over time which (I believe) lowers the output capacity. Installing Flash Player is a great idea too; just make sure it's an older one. The newer eco-friendly versions don't put as much emissions but they're a lot harder to work on. ;)

Evander Kane arrested on misdemeanor charge for June nightclub incident
MattPie replied to Hoss's topic in The Aud Club
Likes can be intended in many ways, but none of those can be discerned by anyone other than the person clicking like. People are going to read into it their own way, which may not be at all what the person meant. If you're going to like something that's controversial you better consider the angles if you're worried about your public (or communal) perception. If you want to make a statement, make a statement. If you're using a binary semaphore that's bound to be read the wrong way, you better find a post that says exactly what you want. -

Yes and no. Without looking at the posts in this example, I will say that I personally infer that if someone likes something I assume they at least agree with the statement. If someone likes some meme about it wasn't Tom Brady's fault and he shouldn't be suspendded, for example, I infer they support that position (right before I block them). -
I think 600MB version gets you a basic system with GUI. 7.2GB must be all the packages (many of which you'll never use) for the base and extras channels. The DVD ISO I have is something like 4GB.

Come to think of it, the CentOS 7 ISO image (another flavor of Linux) has a memory tester as part of the boot menu under troubleshooting. Mint may too, I don't have that ISO handy to look. https://www.centos.org/ As for the CMOS battery, I think it would complain at boot (perhaps something about "using default BIOS settings" or something similar) if that's the case. The default BIOS settings are usually pretty good though, so I'm not sure it'd cause strange reboots once the system was running.
