  1. I'm waiting for Trump to suggest building a wall along the Atlantic coast to stop boat-borne immigration. It'll be a great wall. He's going to call it the "Atlantic Wall". With a name like that, it's got to work, right? (PS: I know the name has already been used)
  2. Eleven is being 100% factual. It works in Rush, but he's venturing close to second lead guitar territory. Depends on your preference, but I prefer JPJ or Entwistle's (and McCartney too) style far more than Geddy's (even if Geddy is awesome). It complements the music and makes it sound good without being showy. I'm partial to a groove more than a solo. EDIT: OK, so this is really cool, someone posted up an isolated bass track of a live Who performance showing how awesome Entwistle is. This is the original full mix from the same show: This is the isolated bass track (the must have recorded it multitrack at the time): His playing is so technical at times, but it blends in with the song so well you almost don't notice unless you really listen for it. If you're impatient, check out the stuff around 7:00.
  3. Someone around here said Fasching was doing a great job on the boards and getting pucks to his teammates who then didn't finish. Imagine if those two work, and they you substitute Larsson or Girgensons in the real line up. It's worth a try for a game or two.
  4. Has. to. be. Please let that be sarcastic.
  5. My primers and books are probably at my parents' house in the piano bench of the piano that no one plays, I should go find them. I played from 5-6 until 12-13; I was apparently OK. A friend of mine who was genuinely good later in HS told me she was jealous of me when we were younger. Just another example of my lack of drive, I guess. :)
  6. I think later in that article it says 100% of the white players (22 in total, or something) in that informal poll were Trump supporters. I'm a little surprised, but if I think about it as rich white guys that probably grew up in conservative, rural area it makes more sense. I'd still think there were at least one or two left-leaning people though.
  7. I've never really liked Page's herky-jerky style. Technically talented, sure, but not enough flow. That being said, I've barely listened to Zepplin in the past decade or two; I wonder if it'd be different now. Start at the very begining, it's a very good place to start. Start with Do - re (ray) - mi (me). If you start at middle C on a piano, the major scale is just the white keys going up. Start playing nursery rhymes to start, they're simple melodies that don't jump intervals much. For piano, check out an app or two to learn the keys and scales to start. If that keeps your interest, you can pick up a cheap keyboard for <$100 to plink around on. If that keeps working, get a nicer keyboard. I've been thinking about music a lot lately as RosePie is getting to the point where she can repeat songs and almost hold a tune at times. We sing to her a lot, so it makes sense, and I think I'll try putting more structure to it soon and see what happens. I'm already looking at recorders and harmonicas because they're cheap; and I won't lie that I'd enjoy doing more music myself. I just wish I hadn't sold that mediocre guitar a few years ago even if I don't really know how to play it.
  8. Can I also say how shocked I am to learn Incognito is a Trump supporter?
  9. I could imagine a cell phone app that could do an OK job of giving a driving test, at least based on accelerometers (SP!) and timing (not foo fast nor slow). PA you have to go to a tag shop to get a plate, I've never seen a paper tag in normal use. NJ does paper, I think, although the two times someone I know bought a car in NJ they weren't residents so that may have been a special case. On other note, I bought a car from a dealer in VA when I was an MD resident. The dealer had the MD paperwork and plates on-hand so there was no temp.
  10. If there was ever a day for a crotch-grabbing picture...
  11. I think bargain is is shorthand for production per cap-hit kilodollar in the context, not contract vs. market.
  12. It's becoming a trend. Either we're a bit delusional, or the predictions are being done with stats of the last few years and artificially low for Buffalo.
  13. Snooki-like antics at Timmy H?
  14. This is starting to sound like one of those war movies when they test some guy to see if he's a spy. "Where were you when you heard about Pearl Harbor?" "I was sitting down to dinner." "It was dinner time when Pearl Harbor happened.. IN BERLIN!" (I think that's from Stalag 17, right?)
  15. I'm older than my chronological age. :)
  16. Since the Friday thread is locked, I found this for d4rk: http://gmlongroof.4umer.com/t272-hybrid-longroof-locomotive It's a Detroit Diesel 6.2l conversion for a 91 Buick wagon. I look forward to seeing his results in converting his new Buick.
  17. I understand what you're saying, even if I don't think there has been anything in Risto's work ethic to think that he's going to go all Stafford once he gets a fat deal. The question is, are you prepared to pay him $8.8M/year (inflation and all) starting in 2020 if he does progress to being a top-2 D? That 2.8M/yr (based on a 8*$6M signed today) could be the difference between someone like Matt Ellis being the Sabres 4th line center and someone like Paul Gaustad (who obviously has flaws, but is better than Ellis; those two are familiar examples of the trickle down effect of waiting until Risto can expect a fatter contract). Note: I'm just throwing names and money around; the details aren't important. The concept is, if you lock him up now you reduce the risk that in 4 years you have to start dumping depth to fit his bigger paycheck.
  18. I read an article about an elderly woman who swallowed a fly. It escalated quickly.
  19. I'm not even sure when that came out, and I was a yuuugggeeee Metallica fan. I went to Media Play at midnight with my metal-loving bandmates to buy Load on the day it was released. I haven't bought one since. It makes me kinda sad in a way.
  20. I must be the strange one, I never liked Justice the way I liked the first three. Something about the production just didn't have the raw energy of the first three. That could well be Cliff Burton haunting the sessions, I dunno.
  21. Apparently Metallica is feeling its roots based on the two songs off their new album that have been released. I'll never be a fan like I was when I was in high school, but this takes me back; this song could be straight off Master of Puppets (other than not being 8 minutes long).. Check out "Moth to Flame" too if you're a fan of that era. It's a bit more Justice or Black than this, but still like hearing a lost track from an old favorite band.
  22. '72 was a pretty tumultuous year for #14.
  23. I don't think you're a dad, but your Dad-joke game is top-notch. I love it.
