  1. That doesn't sound like a Vogon name, but then you said worst, not third worst. This has been making the round on NPR. I find it oddly compelling:
  2. Ha, that's true. Google now tells me the average speed of my trip when I use the nav to get home. The last time I did on the bike the average work to home was 63 mph. People drive fast around here. (oh, and no offense; I should be able to ride a bike faster than someone can plausibly run)
  3. This just in: women can be too.
  4. I'm very much a recipe cook, and this is why: I made some meatloaf a few weeks ago and while I was making the "glaze", I realized I didn't have enough ketchup for the recipe. I looked around and decided instead of ketchup, cumin, and cayenne, I'd use the ketchup I had, skip the cayenne, and make the rest up with Trader Joe's Sriracha BBQ sauce and cumin. It. was. awesome. But I'll never be able to recreate it. I want it again. I've never been good at embracing the fleeting moments of life; I always want to repeat.
  5. It moved. I'm jealous; I camped off US276 on my last bike trip down there. On the way down, someone introduced me to a pretty awesome "race": Start up at the top of one of the hills (like on the BRP), put your bike in neutral or off and coast down. First to the bottom wins. It entirely rewards corner speed and brake control. The roads up there are such that there's no lack of speed, that's for sure.
  6. I think I'm at $1995. I cannot and will not bet on the Flyers. 1 on Buffalo; a bet from the heart.\
  7. I like to think the wily old vet can frustrate the new kid. I also think McDavid is the kind of talent that won't keep frustrated for long once he sees the old dog's tricks.
  8. That was my bike. :(
  9. Rome wasn't built in a day.
  10. I saw an article that said IBD had Romney similarly at this point, but rapidly swung just before the election. I don't know the details, but I'm left wondering if the data changed somehow or the poll put a thumb on their scale so they can claim to be right in the end. Ignore the title and video, just read the parts about polling shifts. https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/trump-loss-could-mean-hillary-151500454.html
  11. Probably "boring" is less evocative but more acceptable. :)
  12. I assume you have a 5.0; I'd be surprised if a 5.0 could hang in the corners with with even a moderately sporty current car. That's not a slight on the 5.0, just that 20+ years of progress have made some incredible strides in handling and braking even for everyday cars. Unless you were planning on doing work on those things and not returning to stock, of course.
  13. Admiral, a Dutch historical drama about Admiral De Ruyter, a naval hero. Frankly, I don't know much about his era on history or speak Dutch (of which about 80% of the movie spoken in), but Netflix kept telling me to watch it and it's up around 5 stars so I gave it a shot. It's not bad at all, I'd watch it again. Lots of ships and cannons, a bunch of political treachery stuff. Plus, stars Dutch Ron Jeremy in the lead role.
  14. Heh, I don't know if I'd do it in the diesel; I'd be too embarrassed holding everyone else up and I'm not sure the turn-outs are big enough to let people by. I've been lucky enough to run those roads a few times with minimal traffic on Wednesdays. I've never really been in that area when it was busy, and I'm glad.
  15. If you have something fun to drive, make sure to hit the Dragon/Cherahola triangle.
  16. As Drunkard mentioned, 30 minutes of game action. Years ago in the UK they'd have 30 minute slots on Monday for each game and show what sounds like the same compressed version. Good work! For normal desktops, it's not really worth building but you can save a ton of cash building gaming systems. The only thing I'll say is wifi's inherent latency sucks for twitch games, wired is a lot better. :)
  17. I'm interested in that as well. I will say that if there was any meat to it, *someone* would have details if only to be apologists. My bias is saying Trump is just flinging against the wall, but I'd like someone to actually refute it.
  18. I could go for some Okpopho for dinner tomorrow.
  19. RWD got a bad name in the US because the old cars had like 65% of the weight on the front wheels. If you pick up a car that's closer to 50/50, they apparently handle pretty well in the snow. Cars that are close to 50/50 are BMWs, Miata (believe it or not, other than the clearance they're apparently fantasic in the snow). I'd bet a set of snows on the Buick would make for some fun.
  20. The Sabres are on an 82-point pace, that's not that terrible. Considering a win tonight would put them on a 98-point pace, I think it's safe to say this game against Vancouver will surely mean postseason if the Sabres win.
  21. It's a lot more informative to watch what they're doing rather than cut them off.
  22. NHL.tv. Different clients have different capabilities. They don't edit out commercials any more so replays are almost an hour longer. Can't rewind live on Android. Amateur hour.
  23. At 1895, 1 on the Les Flammes. I think ChadJo stands on his head to prove the Sabres wrong.
  24. It seems like that bike was way more rake and trail than modern stuff. Was that just this bike or indicative of the era?
  25. The NHL has said they'd be on the lookout for teams trying to circumvent the rules, and I bet this is what they have in mind. Much like when MIller left, at most I think the Sabres may say something like, "before you sign somewhere else, please take my call." but that's about it. But it's all moot: - LV is very unlikely to take a UFA - There's no way Moulson scores 30 this year. There were 28 players in the league that hit 30 last year, so we're talking top-line guys. I want to see Moulson succeed as much as anyone, but 20 goals would be a great season for him.
