Not directly sandwich related, but oven-roasting vegetables is awesome and easy, especially carrots and Brussels sprouts (just "sprouts" to Huckleberry). Carrots: wash and cut into 1 inch pieces diagonally, olive oil, salt, and pepper, oven until they're soft. Sprouts: cut in half, oven until getting brown. Tip for both, use some bread to wipe up the oil, salt, and pepper from the pan; it's awesome. Oh, I may have mentioned this before but salmon filet in the oven with any of the following things on top is awesome too: basil pesto, salt, pepper, and caraway seeds, BBQ rub, garam masala (Indian spice in a jar from Wegs), or Old Bay. Bake at 425 for around 15 minutes.

I think you're reading too much into it. There's no reason to think Whaley wasn't in Boca, or that anyone would rather be in Boca than Buffalo in January. The picture is candid, and could have been posed better, but I tend to think the only people who'd think about that are obsessives on the internet. No offense. :) (I'm kidding with you here)

I was 7 and it's one of very few hockey-related memories I retain from that age.

Brewing goaltender controversy? Sabres get points with Nilsson in goal
MattPie replied to Stoner's topic in The Aud Club
Somewhere on the internet, someone muses that Cal Peterson may be looking at the Sabres goaltending depth and decide to play out college and sign as a UFA somewhere with an easier path to the NHL. The internet then decides that Cal Peterson is not going to sign with the Sabres and will be UFA. Then the internet gets its wires crossed and he's UFA this year. Ugh. Cal Peterson will probably sign with the Sabres at the end of this year. Almost every college player does; they're not going to pass up the chance to make even regular-person money to play a game they love. We're going to be hearing about the Vesey scenario for years, just like the "trade at the deadline and sign them back in the off-season" scenario that gets bandied around but has happened only a handful of times over the hundreds of trades. -
I took two things from that: one, he's mad that whatever leaks are happening aren't getting to him. He thinks that's Whaley, so he's not charitable to anything else Whaley does. Two, is a little unclear, but he either doesn't agree with or doesn't get the idea that playing Tyrod Taylor for the last game could put the Bills into a crappy situation in terms of the cap if the new coach wants a different QB. He only mentions it as proof that the Bills are going to cut Taylor, not from the standpoint that it gives them flexibility. I'm not saying that's a great call on the Bills' part, but it does have logic. If I'm thinking about buying a new house, I'm not going commit to a new car bought in cash using the down payment money tomorrow; I wait until I have a better picture and then make decisions.

I'm at @2185 after losing on the Hawks. I'll put one on the Sabres at +145. Why not.

I got the F-troupe reference; I'm not old as the hills just old at heart! Another: until recently, the Sabres have looked 4-F, but I dare say they might be 1-A.

Expansion Draft -- Sabres moves and speculation
MattPie replied to SabresBaltimore's topic in The Aud Club
I thought there was a stipulation in there that each team would lose a player. If that's the case, LV will have to pick up some AHL or 2-way guys as to be able to get down to the roster limit. It'll be interesting to see if LV tries to flip guys by picking them and then trading to another team for something. Also, in your list you have Bogo as "required", but the jury is out on that one. Once he waived his movement clause to be traded to Buffalo, Buffalo isn't required to honor it. As far as I know, no one here knows whether Buffalo reinstated it after the trade. -
Compare and contrast: subtweeting and vaguebooking. K-thx-bye.

Hasek should be a lock. Perrault maybe, but even borderline there will be borderline guys from the Habs and Leafs that'll get in before him. I never considered LaFontaine that big of a deal, I'd be surprised if he made it unless connections.

Re: McCabe interference: Just a joke, based on the 5-minute major he got for this similar-looking hit. I didn't know you could get a major for interference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeblqxNrcWk 07:17 BUF Jake McCabe: Interference (maj) — 5 min http://www.hockey-reference.com/boxscores/201404120BOS.html -
He'll end up playing at some point due to injury and luck one in. I feel it.

As much as I like a good hit, both of those ended up seriously affecting the hittee and dampens my enthusiasm. I hope Laine fairs better than Umberger. Also, I'm surprised McCabe didn't get a 5-minute major for interference on the Laine hit. ;) -
It'd be interesting to bring shot blocks into this discussion too. A D that has lots of shot blocks per opponent shot but also sucks at shot suppression is breaking even at best. Makes me wonder how Jay McKee would have faired.

These are the points, distilled. Clip and save when talking to the Leafs fan in you life: - Marner is playing wing and with better players. - Eichel was on a terrible NHL team last year and still scored reasonably well. - Eichel is on a bad NHL team this year and is scoring reasonably well. - Marner is playing on a team that emphasizes scoring. There's no way Marner would score as many in Buffalo, and no way Eichel wouldn't score more in Toronto. - Centers are more valuable than just points. - Intangibles! :)
-
The Sabres will make the finals but never win the cup with Eichel. There, I said it. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm not even sure then. You have to question anyone raised by parents that thought "Chad" was a good name. :)

I'll eat a couple with shells too, oddly satisfying. What happened to Pearl Street? I was there a few years ago but didn't eat. The beer there is good, but nothing memorable. The primary thing I remember was the awesome belt-drive fan system.

I saw an awesome on earlier with break and milk photoshopped in.

But not an individual player's defensive ability.

I'd venture to say "most of them", sorry. Bad football can be great; fumbles, interceptions, big runs, safeties, etc.). Bad soccer is great because there's scoring. Bad racing has lots of crashes. It does depend, though. Bad baseball where no one can hit would be insufferable; bad baseball were the ball is flying around and fielders are missing plays sounds pretty cool.

I picked up a case of Storm King before the holidays, may have one in a few. I picked up one of these for NYE but didn't get around to opening it. http://beerstreetjournal.com/victory-jubilee/ I'll have to find a night that I'm comfortable with 750ml of 12% beer.

No kidding, In recent experience, my wife's parents up on Centerline (in Wales) tend to have a few inches more than my parents in Elma.

I don't think it was many of the boomers giving them out, but I remember hearing about them back in the late 90s. which would have been pretty early for Gen X to be tossing them around. The point is, millennials got the trophies from Gen X and maybe Boomers; they're a product of their upbringing like anyone else. Boomers have their own myopic perceptions, both figurative and literal. :)
