  1. Carrier needs to put up more points before we can legitimately call him an asset. I like his game, but 6 points in 33 games, even on the low-scoring Sabres, makes him JAG.
  2. Didn't eat the salad nor PB&J. Had a small plate of rice, greek-style Rutabega, and Drunken Noodle, and got back to work. Haven't had time to eat, not too hungry. I had a can of Coke earlier that I forgot. Greek Rutabaga: I bought one on a whim a couple weeks ago and finally cut it up. I found a recipe to make it like those Greek potatoes you get at diners in Buffalo, so I gave it a shot. The sauce base is Dijon mustard, thyme, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and a few other things, mixed up on cubed rutabaga and cooked on a roasting pan in the oven. The recipe said 2" cubes, which was ridiculous but even the 1"-ish cubes took forever to cook. I wonder if the recipe really means 1/2" cubes.
  3. To a degree, you can treat Chessesteak like a hamburger as the base components are the same. That makes mayo OK, I guess. I usually get plain (meat and cheese) and then add some BBQ and/or hot sauce to it. Pizza steaks (meat, mozz, and red sauce) are good too. I rarely get cheesesteak hoagie (meat, cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato) and Buffalo (sauce) cheesesteak. Two things I'll mention that surpass all that: three-cheese garlic bread cheese steak: provolone, mozz, and parm cheesesteak on garlic bread long roll. OMG, I have to get one of those again soon. Also, Italian pork: sliced roast pork with juice, sharp provolone, and garlic sauteed broccoli rabe. *That* is the best sandwich in Philly (many places make them, I think Tony Luke's or Dinics have the best). That's Geno's, place is OK. Think Anchor Bar wings of cheesesteak. There are other local places to make them better IM non-native O.
  4. All with only 3 Sabres skaters on the ice! (M-x slanted-journalism-mode)
  5. Kind Jalapeno granola bar (I was in a rush) Leftover catered-meeting ham and cheese on sourdough sandwich Two kinda mush and small gala apples Banana (not too large, NS) 5oz by volume Habanero BBQ roasted almonds 16 oz cold matcha tea mug hot Earl Grey tea, nothing added On deck: salad, PB&J on multigrain, Chinese/Thai leftovers when I get home.
  6. He skated past 66% of the players on the ice and was in reach of the remaining 33% when he let it go. I stand by my point! :)
  7. Re: above, if I were a moderator I'd totally be using that Locktite image for my avatar, that's too funny. Threadlocker, hahahaha.
  8. Dare I say a #11-like rush to end it? He didn't exactly skate through the entire team in the traditional sense, but coast to coast.
  9. If I remember right, 8th place kind of dips in the middle most years but trends up as the bubble teams play harder towards the end.
  10. I don't know what you mean, it's just a picture of some random thread. Well, not random since I picked out Blue and Gold.
  11. I think we're Tomax and Xamot. Didn't see anything until the second intermission, 2-2. Wife and I started talking about stuff and I didn't turn the game back on until about 8 minutes left (2-4), despite the Sabres being down. Watched through to the end, of course.
  12. We had a bunch of rain and wind here yesterday. Flipped over a cast lawn table that I have to focus to pick up and move. Better than last year, where it was 10 degrees colder and I had to dig out a few feet of wind-blown snow that was *heavy*.
  13. Somewhere, Modo wrote up the crazy end of year tournament that the Swedish Hockey leagues play to determine relegation. The lower league plays a bunch of games that determine who gets to play the lowest 1 or 2 teams in the next league up. Whomever wins that game/series plays in the higher league next year, the losing team goes down (and I think loses most of their players due to contracts becoming invalid).
  14. You guys are so negative, he's drawing power from the 1970s to bring the Sabres back to the glory days of the French Connection.
  15. I'll repeat: .500 is the +/- of team records. Traditional but meaningless. We're really talking about .580 points percentage (points / games played). That'll give you a really good chance of being in the playoffs. Any measure that deals with games won and lost is useless, there's one measure the NHL uses, and that's points.
  16. I think it's pretty close. If my math is right, that 52 points works out to 92.7 points for the season, so right around playoffs. Guarantee is a strong word, if the East beats up the West all season, you might need 96 to make it in the east from the points gained from West teams.
  17. Derek Grant becomes the first player in NHL history to score a hat trick as his first three goals in the league after playing 20 games.
  18. How about this: .500 is an arbitrary mark that means nothing. If you like, we should all be worried about getting to .580 in points, regardless of how many wins and "losses" that adds up to. .500 is the +/- of team records.
  19. I may have noted this before, but any time you mention Halifax the beginning of this song goes through my head. Please don't stop!
  20. I'd like to say I completely missed Darth's post before I entered mine. Sorry!
  21. All right, I don't entirely hate that idea. It would be odd with coaches leaving, players perhaps not showing up (especially if they're not signed for next year), etc. Can we use the name they gave the "last place team bowl" in gym class, the Toliet Bowl. Sorry, that's the "Braun Plumbing presents Toilet Bowl" to you and me.
  22. Star Wars, Episode.. 3. The Sabres were once good, then an abomination (Episode 1), you had hoped the next two were going to be better, but you just ended up disappointed and sad. The hope is the next set will be pretty good (recently watched Force Awakens, not bad).
  23. I'll say that if Kane is kept and plays on the third line, you're looking at Foligno or Carrier cost players on the wing on lines #1 and #2 to supplement ROR-Eichel-Reinhart-Okposo. It doesn't look like there's a realistic way to keep Kane and bring in any big-money players for the wings in the top-6. For that matter, Gionta on the 3rd too seems like a lot of money for a 3rd line. I'm not opposed to the idea of 3 roughly equal lines; having $9.5M in two third line players almost requires that each line has a low-cost player.
  24. Yanks are so lazy, they're not running towards the line of scrimmage before the snap.
  25. Other people's kids are all sick, so I may be able to maintain a reasonable amount of food tonight. Hooray, I guess.
