Short term? Like this season? Write it off, maybe bring up some kids and eval their progress. Sign a couple promising kids out of college if possible. Kulikov will be fine, whether in Buffalo or someone else. See if he'll go for a 3 x ${something modest} to reprove himself. Bogo would probably be fine in a different system. Hopefully that different system will be in Buffalo by October.

It appears GMTM is OK with Bylsma. I don't know how much low-event hockey I can stand; if HHDCRGDDB is here next October, or someone in the same mold is in his place, I may be taking a step back. It's not worth 2.5 hours of my life to watch.

GM Tim Murray - Time for a serious conversation
MattPie replied to Scottysabres's topic in The Aud Club
I'm not saying Cody is the man, but the last thing we need is a guy who blocks a lot of shots. We need a guy that has the puck on his stick and therefore can't block shots because the other team doesn't get a chance to shoot. -
HHDCRGDDB. Head Hot Disco Coach Rube Goldberg Devotee Dan Bylsma.

It depends on how you look at it. I don't think it's bad, unless it convinces people things are awesome when it might be a false indicator. In hockey terms, I think it's like +/-. If you have some gaudy +20 or something that's cool, but it doesn't necessarily mean you're better than the guy with a +12. These are the companies on the Dow: http://money.cnn.com/data/dow30/ In theory, these guys could be going like gang-busters with small-medium (and large but not huge) businesses failing at record pace and the Dow would keep going up.
-
We could actually trade them, though. I believe you can make trades after the deadline, they just won't be eligible for this year's playoffs, which is N/A for both teams in this case.
-
Can this please tone down the "we gave up too much for Kane!!" nonsense?
-
Interesting fact: economists kind of hate the Dow. It's been the same since time began, which on one hand is good, but it doesn't always accurately represent today's economic mix. And no, I'm not saying this as sour grapes.

They could have Rivet and Petey yammering about how the Sabres need more D in the Gorges mold. Petey: "Man, I'd knock someone out to get Mike Weber back. Er, I mean it'd be nice to get Webbie back. I'd never condone punching anyone, especially kids. I used to punch adults for a living, but that's hockey."

And here I thought I wasn't going to have to update today. 0-2-1 for the last 3 ain't gonna cut it, guys. -
I think that was floated back around the announcement of WJC. I'd put it as, "likely".

Deadline Nearly Here! What is GMTM going to do?

I approve this comment. -
I almost put the "Luna Craters vs the Sea of Tranquility Rage" as the final game of my triple header.
-
Without a time frame, I'm sure it will. Eventually every team will play every other team in an outdoor game. It'll be a the second game of a triple header with the Bangkok One-nights playing the Tokyo Katanas in the early game, an orignal-30 matchup Sabres vs. Rangers in the middle and the Sydney Operas playing the Terra del Fuego Flames in the first outdoor game played in Antarctica.

What NHL Rule Changes Would You Like To See?

I like it a lot. -
I appreciate your knowledge of coaching, but come on. As an adult, you can't shove a kid whether you mean to knock him down or not. Are we applying NHL rules where "oh, I didn't mean to give that guy a concussion when I elbowed him in the head" has weight.

It's a public service; I hope to temper people's enthusiasm so when the (nearly) inevitable happens it wasn't out of the blue. :)

And redefine periods. We serve to the 4th period, but the intermissions are considered periods now! -
MrsPie is doing a juice fast, and it's working pretty well for her. A week in and she's fitting better into clothes and seeing it on the scales; I'm really proud of her. I have a serving or two per day. I'd be doing it too but frankly, between the two of us and and a toddler it's tough getting through all the prep and juicing and clean-up to keep her supplied. It probably averages 1.5 hours per day, although we try to batch it up so we're not spending every day on it. I drink maybe a pint of juice and I'm not nearly as hungry for dinner. As a part of this, it's fallen on me to "clean out" the fridge of any perishable stuff. Today's menu: - Quiche (pea and broccoli, we had a pie crust and eggs to use up) - Provolone and Tomato Basil Jam on Multigrain (this is actually pretty awesome; I'd love to try on some whole wheat Italian bread) - IPA Jelly in Greek yogurt (there's a local place that makes beer jelly; it's not bad as a novelty. I have a jar of Porter Jelly to use up next) - Handful of blueberries - Some leftover mixed vegetables (broccoli, carrot, cauliflower) - Some smoked cheddar and manchego cheese This evening will be juice and some hippie turkey kielbasa and sauerkraut. I still have eggs I need to figure out, maybe I'll just hard boil them and put them on salad.

15-4-1. That's the record the Sabres need for the last 20 games to get to 93 points. You can talk about "just 6 points back on Toronto, and Montreal is bad", but that's not promising. The only out is if somehow third place in the division is only something like 87 points (nearly record low, I think). Then the Sabres can go 11-6-3. That number doesn't look much better; it's still 70% points, higher than this "good" streak they've been on and better than any extended stretch this season.

I'm pretty happy with the 0vrevann I have from Vikre (Minnesota based distillery). It's taffel style and not aged, but it's a nice, herbal clean taste. <$40 at a PA Liquor store. I think I had Aalborg years ago; that was a bit harsher and move caraway. I kinda miss the big caraway, but but the pleasantness over the Vikre is more enjoyable. http://vikredistillery.com (please note, I just read the whole wikipedia article which is how I know what taffel style is; I'm not an Aquavit connoisseur). -
I think it depends on the area. Philly is a big beer town so when you go somewhere it's a cross-section of people (admittedly white, middle class casual). You can't drive more than a few miles and not run into a brewery; it's just a normal place to have dinner or a beer. Victory is full of normal people and kids almost every time you go. I mean, I wear flannel a lot these days and have a beard... oh crap, I'm a hipster.
-
Dude, people have been booted from here for those kind of accusations. Unless you have proof, I wouldn't throw that kind of talk around. Anyways, Peters is a moron for losing his cool. The refs and kids need to sort that out, no place for a coach to do that. Shove, punch, or bad breath knocking that kid over, he should be done and it's a bad look for WGR to have him on the radio today.

Only if I decide stop at 0 and not be negative. :( Sample playoff record for the remaining 20 games: 15-4-1.
